Chapter 91: A Troubled Sleep
My mouth goes dry, bile threatening the back of my throat. I glance down at Samuel, standing at his father's side, hand in hand with Laila as they both wait silently. I look back up at Dominic, his expression bathed in dread as warm tears begin to sting my lids. "Samuel...," I whisper in my head, "his eyes, Dominic, they were solid black for a split second. I tried telling myself I was just being paranoid but now..."Laila shifts, moving closer, I look down as she takes my hand, "I'm tired," she says, yawning. "Me too," Samuel agrees, his mouth opening into a following yawn."Yes, we all need some rest," Dominic's deep voice resonates, a stark difference from his tone in my head."Alright," I say as calmly as I can. "How about you two sleep in our room tonight?"Smiles light up their faces as they immediately rush off, hopping back on the bed. Dominic takes my hand and pulls me close, kissing the top of my head."We cannot protect them once they are asleep," He whispers, voice

Chapter 92: Just Say It
The door to our bedroom is wide open with the sound of giggling children echoing down the hallway. Dominic stops just outside, waiting for me to walk in, and I look up. "What is it?" I ask as his expression changes like he's in deep thought."Victoria," he says, glancing down at me. "She is on her way with food.""God bless her," I whisper, walking into the room.Laila is sitting at the table, laptop propped open to a screen full of cartoon jellyfish. Samuel is seated next to her and looks up when he sees us approaching."Mom," he turns to me,."I saw you in my dream the other night.""Oh?" I ask, curious. "What was I doing?" I take a seat beside him."Well, it was really dark, and Deumus was talking to you. You didn't seem very happy.""Yeah," Laila cuts in. "You were reaching out, but we were too far away to touch you.""Hold on," I say, scooting closer to the table as Dominic pulls out a chair next to me. "You two can see me when I dream?""Uh huh," they murmur in unison.

Chapter 93: A Family Affair
After the movie ended, we had a long conversation about demons, angels, strategies, crystals, even martial art moves. Anything and everything, we talked about it. We also decided to keep Samuel and Laila with us another night. We had a job to do as a family, and we needed to stay physically close. So, we lay side by side in our bed, holding moon crystals, amethysts and clear quartz tightly in our hands, Dominic on one end and me on the other. Once Dominic turned off the lamp, the only source of light was half a moon, though, that didn't matter-we wouldn't need light where we were going, only the combined efforts of our dreams. "Mom, Dad?" Samuel whispers. "I need to tell you something.""What is it, son?" Dominic asks in a soft voice."Well..." Samuel pauses for a moment. "The demons, Deumus and Baphomet...they will try to fool you.""Oh, we are well aware of that," I chime in. "You never know which direction they'll be coming from...""No," Samuel interrupts. "Not that," he sa

Chapter 94: Never Trust a Demon
He cocks his head and smiles. "Ouch," he mocks me. "That's unfortunate. I was sure I could sweet talk you into at least, giving me your daughter." He shakes his head. "I suppose I'll just have to take her without giving you a reward.""I'm warning you, stay away from my daughter!" I bite out my words, standing up on the table. He tilts his head. "Come now. You know I can't do that. But I can make you a deal.""I don't make deals with the devil," I say through clenched teeth. His smile deepens and he tosses his head back, laughing. "Compliments, too? I'm flattered. I haven't been called that in years.""Don't believe him, Mama," Laila's voice suddenly echoes in the room. I glance around, searching every inch."Laila! Where are you?" I cry out, trying to keep my emotions in check."I'm here," she says, appearing next to me. She wraps her arms around my waist, and I reach down taking her in my arms, squeezing her in relief."Ah, were your ears burning?" Lucifer says, walking in o

Chapter 95: Michael
I struggle to open my eyes as he walks toward me and finally manage a peak. He's with someone, but my vision is blurry and full of black spots. I know I'm on the verge of passing out when a rush of overwhelming calm passes through my body, and I relax, no longer fighting the pain. Dominic gently shifts me in his arms, lifting my head higher, and I manage a second look, panting for breath. To my relief, Samuel is safe, standing next to someone who reaches out for my hand. Then it hits me. I've felt the ease of his glorious presence before. My eyes slowly draw up to a bright yellow aura and black wings majestically glistening in the light. The Archangel Michael. "Warrior," the Archangel calls out, his tone soft yet stern. Dominic finally looks up, pulling his attention from me. "You will have to release the Queen," The Archangel instructs.Dominic freezes for a moment, I can feel his apprehension, his possessiveness, and he glances back down at me, torn. I can only take shorts breath

Chapter 96: Victory
The next morning, Dominic left to check on Rachel, leaving it up to me to decide if the twins should attend school or stay home to recoup for a day. It became immediately apparent that Samuel and Laila weren't staying home-they couldn't wait to tell Riku all about their dream and how they used his martial arts techniques to maneuver and strategize against the demons. I was proud of their bravery to openly talk about the frightening things they saw, not to mention their tenacity for getting back to their normal routine. Dominic's genes are strong in both of them. I'm not so sure I would have been as courageous, especially at their age. Dr. Walsh arrived quickly after the children left by Dominic's request, bowing his head before checking my blood pressure, which was normal. Dr. Bradley came a few minutes after, wheeling in a portable sonogram machine to check on the baby. So far so good, although, Dr. Bradley noticed my amniotic fluid was slightly low and subsequently put me on bed re

Chapter 97: The Council
"Good afternoon, Queen Katherine," the white cloaked councilwoman in the middle says. "I hope you are feeling better.""Yes, I am." I nod, standing next to Dominic with Zack on my other side. "Thanks to the Archangel."Her mouth curves into a smile. "I am aware," she says. "The Archangel has informed you that we have important business to discuss?""He did," I answer, biting my lip. Dominic takes my hand and softly rubs the top with his thumb."Very good," she says, leaning to the councilman on her left, whispering something I can't make out before looking back up. "I will get right to the business at hand." She folds her palms on her lap. "We have observed that the Prince and Princess have succeeded in mastering their new abilities.""To some extent, yes," I answer, forcing a smile. "But we won't know the extent until their full Seraph transformation."The councilwoman nods. "Agreed." She leans forward. "That is why time is of the essence.""I don't understand," I admit, swallo

Chapter 98: It Cannot Be
I tighten my grip around his waist, relishing the steady beat of a strong, loving heart. This man is the only person that will remain a constant in my life, and I can no longer depend on how our family used to be. I should have thought about it before now, or at least anticipated some kind of change. I blocked it somehow from my mind, deceiving myself that the demons would stay away. But all the signs were there. I'm sure Dominic knew. Maybe he thought I did too? And now, Samuel and Laila will be taken from me, from us, forever..."Hi Mama!" Laila calls out, walking toward me as Zack and Victoria enter the room. They smile, giving me a quick nod as they head toward to the table. Samuel is right behind his sister, more reserved, his face going bright when our eyes meet.I pull away from Dominic and wrap my arms around them both. "Hey you two," I say as Laila tightens her grip around my waist. "Oomph! What's this all about?""We don't like it when you're not feeling well," Laila adm

Chapter 99: Getting Used to the Idea
I look over at Samuel, beaming with delight, and my heart warms. My eyes dart to Laila sitting next to him, the look of devastation no longer shadowing her features. She's leaning close to her brother, face lit up with a smile, no doubt influenced by his enthusiasm. I just hope it's not one-sided."Laila," I call out to her, "how are you feeling about all this?"She looks up at me, expression clearing as if not wanting her eagerness to show. "I'm fine, I think," she admits, pulling her eyes away from mine, "If Samuel wants to go, then so do I. We have to stay together.""Yes!" Zack cuts in, elated. "In fact, you should think of this as a type of boarding school." His eyes go wide. "Like you're at Hogwarts."Nice spin.I glance over to Dominic, torn. I don't know if I should be relieved that our children are suddenly okay with leaving us or sad that they actually want to. His eyes meet mine and narrow, thinking about something as he strokes the scruff on his chin."Your uncle make

Chapter 100: The Gemini
Samuel straightens up in his chair. "You mean when we're both using them at the same time?""Exactly," Zack answers, tearing off a piece of his garlic bread. "And, from here on out, you will no longer be referred to as, 'the twins.' You are now, the Gemini.""That's weird," Samuel says, taking a drink of milk. "Why would they do that?" "Well, for one thing," Zack pushes his salad plate away, "The Hierarchy Realm places great importance on astronomy," he looks up, "and the stars, especially the symbolism of the Zodiac." His eyes dart back and forth from Laila to Samuel. "And the significance that you were created from a half Seraph Queen and a full Seraph Warrior...""I don't get it," Samuel interrupts, shaking his head.Zack chuckles under his breath. "It's extremely rare. So rare that you and your sister are the first ever twins born in the Angelic Realm. That's symbolic on its own, not to mention your abilities are already beyond what anyone, even the Hierarchy Realm, could hav
