DAMON Sweeping her hair off her face, my elbow leaned into the bed some more and I took in the view of her sleeping face. Despite the dim light in the room, I could still see notable facial features and when my gaze landed on her closed eyes, I recalled the passionate look I saw in her eyes while our bodies yearned for each other more than they did in the past. DAMON “Wh-what?” Basiton’s question ripped my heart. “Why do you think she’s keeping you close?” his rough voice spoke, wearing some sort of excitement. The hold he had on the back of my head turned into a light caress which made my insides churn with anger. I tried to push my head out of his hold, but he was too strong. And, the booze stench coming from the innards of his mouth caused me to swing my head to the side but that caused my eyes to link with Selena’s. That lack of expression was still there and the fact that she wasn’t making a move to refute Basiton’s unbelievable claims made me feel more scared. DAMONI have no idea why my feet led me to the mansion, but as I looked up and took in the grandness of the building, I recalled the circumstances that caused me to become a frequent visitor of the building.Recalling my mother’s words after, anger overpowered the sorrow in my soul and I walked past the surprisingly open doors.For some reason, the huge living room was empty. There were no guards in the room, the couches were missing and the artworks that usually brightened the room were nowhere to be seen.Looking toward the stairs, my ears picked up some faint voices and once I traced them, my feet led me to a part of the mansion I have never been to before. Just on that ground floor, past the naked living room, there were two doors tucked away from prying eyes. Noting how dimly lit the space was, it made sense that I never noticed that area.“What the hell do you think you are doing, Selena?” I recognized the voice of Selena’s father. DAMON “Ma!” I rushed into the living room, my jacket and cross bag falling onto the ground as my eyes hastily scanned the room. “I am here,” I announced again, hoping that nothing was wrong. I had gotten a text from her, telling me that we needed to talk. And that was all she sent. Despite the numerous messages I sent to her after, my mother didn’t reply and I became more worried. So much so that I abandoned my work and hurried to her house while praying fervently that Malik or Selena’s father had not gotten a hold of her. “Oh, Damon…” My mother’s voice greeted me as she calmly walked out of the kitchen.
