The Guest
Days passed by and each day, Simon found a way to make the shed a little more habitable. He finally found a source of water, looked for a large water container, found us a place to cook food, and lots of things. We finally had a small bath house just behind the shed, and we were finally warming up to living together. He sometimes had to sneak back to the pack just to let his phone charge, but I felt like it was mostly because we still needed a lot of things to actually be fine.Six days has already passed by ever since the news of Austin's marriage came. At first, I tried not to let Simon know just how shaken I was by it, but now that I sat on the hay bed, alone, watching the door and expecting Simon back from getting water, I knew I was wrong. It hurt me to death that he was getting married just like that, when I was almost convinced he would choose me. Eve had said she never saw him, but the family was back to nornal. Caroline was always on the way to the alpha's house, probably ta

How Have You Been?
Just watching him stand there brought tears to my eyes. I could feel my heart thumping wildly in my chest and I sniffed, then looked at him again."Alpha Austin," Simon said unable to keep the disappointment out of his voice. "Come in."Austin looked around for a bit, then took a step in, but stopped in front of me. His eyes fixed on mine, and they were calm, as if he was waiting for an answer. "I..." I started to say, before tears made me choked down on my words and I, shamelessly, ungratefully, yet happily wrapped my arms around him and buried my face in his chest. It was warm, like home. It was soft and it was hard too. Like perfection. He gave a small sigh but let me cry in his chest, and after a while I moved away slowly on my own."Why couldn't you wait?" He asked again.I sniffed and wiped my tears with the back of my hand. "We were...we were caught. By the time we came back and you were unconscious...the grand alpha already found out I am not your mate from Lily and Catherine

Do You Pity Me
I blinked slowly, then nodded. "I guess I...""Don't lie to me." He said a little sternly. "I know if you are not fine.""How will you know?" I asked, suddenly. "You don't even know me and the only reason you are here is because you feel responsible."He gave a small sigh. "This is not the time to be emotional. Let's go."I nodded, trying hard to calm myself down. It isn't the time to get emotional. At least, he came back for me. At least.Simon came back heavily laden with our things, and Austin held my hand. "Put it in the car," Austin said to Simon as if he was retaining me to ride with."You came with a car? How come...""He has to trek to where it is." Austin answered simply, then pulled me to start walking. I followed behind him as Simon led the way to the bright flashlight Austin must have left on.We walked the distance to the same car we had gone to Duncan's lair with, and Simon threw in our things at the back.Austin let me go around to the other side, while Simon got in at

The Wedding
"Pity you?"H examined me for a while. "I feel like you do. Was it because I was unconscious? Or is it something else?"I swallowed. The memory of the grand alpha and Lily's threats slowly came back to me and I turned away."Maybe I was just being tender. Being tender is...very close to pity."He sighed. "Would you want to marry me tomorrow? I made the decision all on my own and I guess I should listen to you first." "Do you think I would have a different answer? Didn't you chose me because you knew...I would willingly come?""You make it sound like I take you for granted." He said. "You make it sound like I didn't wonder where you were when I woke up.""This is torture." I said to him. I wasn't sure what I meant however. Was it what he was facing? Or what I was facing? He opened his mouth to talk, but nothing came out of it, and he slowly pursed his lips agsin. "Rest well."I watched him close the door then sat there on the solo bed, blinking back the uncertainty I felt. So what now

No
Tears filled my eyes as I watched him leave, my heart thumping slightly in my chest. I stood by the window throughout until I saw him emerge at the wedding grounds, his hair tied in a man bun behind him. I would definitely see a black handkerchief from here.I swallowed and sat on the window rim, just as Eve brought a cup of water to me."Crazy, right?" She asked and sat beside me."Right. I can't believe any of this is happening to be honest. It's...weird." I sighed again and turned to the wedding. The more dignified wolves of the pack were in attendance, with the grand alpha right in front. I could see the gamma sitting in front, with Catherine, his hands holding her tight. The gamma was the same age as the grand alpha and would retire to an eclipse with him. Eric was there too, his white suit standing out just a little less than that of Austin. Austin was standing right in front of the altar, his hands clasped in front of him. I watched as the first prayers to the moon goddess wa

I Do
I almost lost my breath as I heard it."No."One word, so many destinies intertwined. So many emotions. So many peoole. No.The eldest wolf raised his brows. "What did you say? Let me come again with the question."Austin raised a hand to stop him and in between his fingers was the black handkerchief. There. That's my cue."You don't need to come again with anything. No. I do not want her as my wife.""Alpha..." The minister said before he was rudely interrupted by the grand alpha. He walked to the altar and without waiting, landed a slap on Austin's cheek.Austin seemed to have been expecting expecting it, as he broke into laughter. "That was long due, father.""How dare you disgrace me? How dare you not accept the marriage?"Austin laughed again and I slowly left the window. Should I really go down now in the midst of the heat?"Is it because I am refusing to marry my nate? Or because if I don't marry her, a very expensive secret will be blown in front of everyone?" Austin said.I t

At Least, I Do Love You
"You can't do this to me, Austin. We go back way longer than anything you hold against me right now. You love me more than all the obstacles, all the...""Enough, Catherine. My wife is listening." He said, then turned to me. "The past is gone, and we all know whose fault that is."I swallowed, a little timidly. The adrenaline has washed away and reality started to dawn on me. I am now Austin's wife. I may have been the substitute a lot of times before, but now..."You think you will not regret this? You think I will let you go scot free?" The grand alpha snarled, his eyes raging."When have I ever gone scot free?" Austin asked. "Even my mother didn't go scot free. Who am I?"The grand alpha raised a hand to slap him again, and I rushed between them, opening my hands to cover Austin up.He stopped for a moment, the anger in his eyes mixing with a little bit of surprise."You have done enough, grand alpha. The marriage is already done and doing this will only make you look worse." I sai

Peel It Off
The ring shone beautifully on my finger, and rather than the normal coolness of steel, it came with the warmth of being on his finger all through. I let my hands run over the stone and sighed. It felt almost too beautiful for me.The house was a little too empty, and I decided to make it a little lively. I went to change into his hoodie and came back to the sitting room. It would make a good sitting room if the couches were a little closer and if the house just smelled of new cooking rather than the scent embedded in the walls.I threw myself into the work, immersing myself so that I could forget the circumstances and the answers I wanted.I brought the couches together, dusted everything and went around the kitchen to look for groceries. There was nothing. It was all empty.I knocked on Austin's door, hoping he wasn't asleep. "Are you asleep?" I asked, clasping the kitchen towel I had dampened to clean the place with. "No." Came the short answer. I opened the door and went in slowl

Catherine Is Pregnant
I stayed there watching the tattoo, hesitatting for a while. It would hurt, and I dont want to see him hurting."Just do it once." He said, then turned sideways so his profile was availed to me. "Don't you hate the sight of it too?"I swallowed. "I do. I hate the sight of it but not enough for this.""Well, I hate it more than enough for this. So do it."I nodded, then pushed my hair back. "Maybe you should come up on the bed. It will be easier for me that way."He said nothing and I moved away from the edge. He got up on the bed, then laid on his side, facing away from me. His hair fell sideways and he put the pillow under his head, as if he didn't know what I was about to do.I close my eyes. The knife was still blazing hot in my hand, and I moved it slowly to the tattoo, exactly where the C was.He said nothing even though I knew he nust have felt the heat from how close the knife was."I am doing it now," I said.He gave me a nod and nothing else. Slowly I lowered the knife to his

It's Not Mine
"Catherine is pregnant."I wasn't sure I heard it well. I couldn't have. Pregnant? As in a baby in her belly kind of pregnant?I closed my eyes, willing for everything to go away. Eric, Catherine, every single thing. But when I opened my eyes he was still there, looking at me like I was the most pathetic thing in the world."That's a lie," I managed to say, surprising even myself. It was weird how even though I knew it had every right to be true, I wanted to defend my heart and believe the opposite."It is not a lie. The shock from you snatching her mate had actually brought her down, and she is recovering now. She didn't lose the baby however. You know who she would be pregnant for, don't you?""Eric!"I couldn't bring myself to look at Eric or the voice that had thundered his name from inside the house. The view of the floor beneath was dizzying and I felt like falling right through it. My eyes clouded with tears as I slightly opened my lips, then let my hand go into my hair to grab
