Farren's Point of ViewBoth men hurriedly slid away from me. Pulled the blanket over my body. I sat up, not paying any attention to the shard of pain in my side. Nerezza stood at the door. Her mouth was open. Eyes wide and bewildered.Red crawled over my cheeks. Planted themselves firmly on the tips of my ears. Sheepishly, Alejandro sat back down in his chair and twiddled his thumbs. Rafael stood beside my bed, refusing to look up at my sister."Nez..." I started. Bit down on the words in my mind. None of them wanted to come out. Hell. I couldn't even put them all into a sentence.Nerezza shook her head at me. Smirked. "If I had known there would be a party in here I would have come sooner." She mused, cocking her hip out to lean against the door. I blushed, covering my mouth with a hand. "But I'm not here because of that," She sighed. Looked over her shoulder at the silent hallway. "You have... Guests. They are saying that your presence is needed at the Amador manor. I assume you gav

Farren's Point of View I had tried my luck and failed. But my growing anger reminded me that I wasn't in the wrong here. This was for the best of both of us. Neither saw it sensible to try in this relationship anymore. How could we when the bond had been so severely mangled? There was no recovering it. Besides, my plan was solid if protection was all he wanted for me. Of that I was sure that Lysander's men would protect me until their last breath. This just proved that Camilo had other motives for keeping me here. Hurriedly, I stormed after him. My wet clothes squelched as I walked. Made a trail of water up the stairs and down the hall. He was headed to his office. moved faster than I had thought he could. His steps were near silent. The house inhaled around us. Lightning lit up the window on the far side wall. I flinched and carried on. Camilo wanted to throw the door closed in my face. I pressed my foot inside the frame to stop it. Barked beneath my breath as the bones protes

Farren's Point of View The high Camilo had given me was even beyond Alejandro's capabilities. His body knew exactly what I needed. Drove me to the edge of insanity and drew me back within seconds. Wave after wave of pleasure hit me. Drowned me. Until all I could do was scream his name. But standing in the middle of his office again, I couldn't help the feeling of shame that washed over me. The guilt I felt for essentially betraying Al. Because I had slept with Cam not long after him. Made him believe that Camilo and I would never be something. Until this moment. "This was a mistake," I whispered, hugging my arms around myself. Camilo was buttoning his pants up. Whirled around when I uttered those dreadful words. "You didn't think that when it was Alejandro." I could hear the sorrow in his voice. The sadness at my shame for being here with him. "Yes, but I went to Alejandro out of love not hate." "And why do you hate me so much?" He folded his arms in front of himself. Stared a

Farren's Point of View All he asked for was one week. One in which he proved to me he wasn't as horrible as he seemed. Showed me the projects he had in the works. The thought was appealing. Maybe it was my romantic heart that tried to urge me to fall into his arms. Hoped that everything I had thought about him until now was nothing more than bad expectations. But another part of me knew that even if he wanted to make Lupitum better, it didn't mean he hadn't murdered anyone before. There was once a time he had wanted to hurt me as well. Even if the man in front of me begged me for even a scrap of the benefit of the doubt. It didn't mean he wouldn't kill again. But I owed it to him and myself to at least try. "Alright. I'll give you one week in which you show me who you really are. If I am not happy with the results, I am not going to carry on. You have a lot to make up for and I am not going to let you off easily." I explained. The lines on Camilo's face vanished. His lips parted

Farren's Point of ViewI had wanted to keep my promise to Camilo. Stay in the house. Out of sight. Whatever was happening next door, it was well outside of my capabilities to help. To do anything other than getting hurt. I knew it. I also knew that Camilo had trusted me to stay here. Hadn't assigned guards to watch my every move. On the contrary, only his mother and sister got guards. It was a small token of faith from him. Something to look forward to in the future. It showed me that he was willing to compromise. But I couldn't ignore that tug at the back of my mind. Something was on the other side of that wall and I needed to see it. As if the goddess herself was forcing me out of his office. Because something was waiting and I needed to find it. This thing might help me later on. I was betraying Camilo's fragile trust. Walked slowly, but surely, down the steps of his house, careful not to draw attention to myself. Snuck out the back door. Four guards nodded at me when I exited.
