“Hunter King, you're surrounded.” A man with a black cap and dark sunglasses was speaking through a megaphone. “Let Rebecca step out of the car and once we have her, I'll give you further instructions.” “Wait, is that... is that...” Rebecca squinted at the speaker and then looked over at Hunter and back. “Sylvester?” Hunter asked. “What does he want?” Rebecca quickly tried to unlock her door, but it was locked. “Woah, wait.” Hunter told her quickly. “It's just Sylvester. I want to know what the hell he thinks his doing.” She responded. “Hunter King let the Sparrow step out of the car.” Sylvester repeated. He had one hand aiming at Hunter and the other holding the speaker to his mouth. “'The Sparrow'?” She was clearly offended. “Is that some code-word nickname for me?” Hunter nodded. “Why? Why Sparrow?” She looked more interested in the answer instead of why they had been stopped at the centre of a four-way stop. “Is it because they think I talk too much?” “Rebecca, s

Pedro ran Joe through the etiquettes and rules of being a bodyguard. He taught him everything he needed to know about doing the job in just twenty minutes. Something you would have had to train for one to three months was taught to Joe in twenty minutes. Joe bobbed his head and asked a few questions along the way. Hunter stood against the uniform wardrobe and watched the class unfold. Pedro was seated behind his desk and Joe was on the chair across from him. “I think we're all done.” “That's all?” Joe asked. “I also think you're a faster learner than Hunter there.” Pedro smiled at Joe. “He told me it took him weeks.” “Well, thank you sir.” Joe was gleaming back as though he was handed a certificate. Hunter shook his head, stepping closer to them. “Whatever... You know it's true.” Joe bragged, turning in his chair to face Hunter. “On a serious note though, you understand exactly how you're supposed to do this job right?” Hunter asked Joe, his face revealing how much he didn't w

Hunter looked down at the pool of blood flowing from under Wendy Jackson. He knew that he had to leave her house and fast, but he couldn't move. Even though he had finally ended the life of his childhood molester, he still did not feel any better. He didn't know how long he had stood there watching her still body, the sounds of sirens were what took him out of his fixature. He ran down her stairs and out of her house, leaving it wide open. He got into his car and speeded off... When he parked in front of his house he ran in and locked the door. He hurried to his bathroom and looked himself in the mirror. He was supposed to feel better now that Wendy Jackson was dead, but no, he didn't. Instead, looking at himself now, he didn't know what he felt, just anxiety. He paced in his bathroom and then pulled out his phone. He phoned Rebecca. She didn't answer. He tried again. No answer. And when it went straight to voicemail the third time. He called Joe. Joe answered right away. “Yes?” Joe

When Hunter saw 'Miss Rebecca' as the caller ID on his phone, his heart almost skipped a beat. His thumb hovered over the accept button. “Two simple choices, Hunter. Accept or reject.” Zahn then slurped her milkshake. Hunter turned his phone face down and looked away. “Mind your business.” “Who's it?” “I just said mind your business. Geez.” Hunter could feel his phone stop vibrating and then start again. Why was she calling him while she was in another man's arms anyway? “Accept or reject. Easy.” Zahn told him. “I don't understand people who just let their phone ring. If I don't want to talk to you, I'm gonna reject your call. I don't give a f*ck who you are. In a way, I'm actually being nice because I'm saving your time.” Rebecca was probably calling him now because she had come back to her senses, after sleeping with Carlton, he thought. She felt bad and that's why she was phoning him. If he picked up right now and asked her where she was, would she lie to him? She probably w

She followed her helper with her eyes. With the way he walked, it dawned on her that if he had on a suit, he would look exactly like Hunter from behind. She frowned, his eyes were also grey, like Hunter's. Also, she didn't know if it had just been the effect of almost going into a respiratory coma, but she was certain she had heard Hunter's voice during her asthmatic episode. She couldn't remember what he said but she had definitely heard his voice. Or at least it sounded like him a little. She watched her helper pull up the garage door and disappear, followed by the man that had been sitting on her left in the car. The two men that remained, had brought out chairs from somewhere behind her, letting it scrape on the cement floor all the way to the garage door where they set camp. The men were deep in their conversation, bad mouthing someone they both did not like. Being ignored, the human instinct to seek freedom came over her. She looked around as far as her neck could go. She saw a
