“He hasn’t picked my calls since yesterday”“I’m worried” Isabella paced around the corridors with the phone in her hands as she was sent to Daniel’s voicemail for the nth time since last night’s dinner that ended in shambles. Joan was by the mirror, applying mascara across her eyes and she turned back to Isa’s worrisome face before heaving a sigh.“So she just like blurted it out?“ She asked, referring to Patricia.“Who could blame her—“ Isabella’s shoulders fell. “She was really drunk and you needed to see the expressions on both their faces” She grunted. Joan pulled away from the glass. “Leonardo doesn’t really have a right to an opinion, i mean he moved halfway across the state, didn’t he ask any questions?” She said.“Besides all you owe him is that you do your work well.”Isa bit into her lips, surrendering her phone to the table. In that moment she might have thought it the best time to tell Joan that Leonard was in fact the father of her kids, but it was just never the right t

"I like you a lot" Isabella reminisced Daniel's words as she walked back home after a long day. She couldn't shake off the feeling that she was being watched but each time she turned around, it was nothing—there was no one. So to take her mind of her paranoia, all she could think about was their moment in the closet."I like you too" She muttered, feeling like a child in love again. As she made her way up her apartment building, she hefted out her keys. But once the elevator opened, her eyes were met with a set of familiar ones. "Patricia?" She surprisingly called, seeing her hovering in front of the door. The woman who had a phone on her ears put away to look back at Isabella."You're back" An exasperated sigh escaped her lips, showing she had been waiting for long. "What are you doing here?" Isabella asked, pulling from the quick hug they shared. Patricia pulled off her glasses that was probably worth twice Isabella's rent. And she could see the remorse in her eyes. "I just wanted

"Patricia likes the designs!"Joan pierced her ear lobes with a pair dangling pearl earrings. She had just gotten off the call with Trish, after resubmitting some of her more authentic designs. She squealed, unable to control her excitement while Isa was more panicky as she paced the room. Ravaging the top of her drawers for her makeup, an arch invaded her brows. "Em, stay away from that cake" She yelled at intervals to make sure they didn't go near the velvet one that hadn't been delivered yet. "Thought you said someone would pick it up?" Joan asked as she slipped into her dress with her face already made. "Well he bailed. Luckily they have the most important one" "This one is just for Leonardo" She added."So you're making private cakes for the billionaire now?" There was sarcasm buried somewhere in her tone and Isabella darted her a warning glare. "It was requested" She said, out of breath before gesturing to Joan to help with the silver zipper of her ball gown—she went for a bei

TEN MONTHS AGO.“What is this?” Leonard’s gaze fell to the gazette in his hands before matching up to his mother’s. She towered over his desk with the corner of her lips twitched with a smirk. He excused his guards and placing the papers down, he had only a vague idea what to make of it. Freya sat down with an accompanied lawyer. “Your father left you something” Her words pierced through his ear like his teeth into his fingernails. “Why would i ever want anything from that man?“ He asked and she pushed a hard lump down her throat. “Hear me out Leonardo” She pleaded.“It’s been six years and you’re only coming now with some bullshit two dollar asset” He cussed in a raucous tone and the lawyer felt the need to step forward. “This isn’t a two dollar asset, Mr Carter—your father couldn’t have overemphasized it more that you get it at thirty. He always said you’d know what to do” Harry reinstated and Leonardo scoffed with a jeering laugh.“Oh please. Mother.”“Listen to him” Freya urged.

"Here" Isabella leaned into her aunt, the pills rattled in her hands and from the plastic bottle, she removed a single one. Majorie faced the ceilings with barely opened eyes. She however managed to slip the pills through her chapped thin lips.Grabbing the cup of water, she gave her aunt and kept it all aside—Majorie was home now, after being discharged a week later. And Isa spent most of her days and nights by her side. In that moment that she choked, Bella smothered her lower back and both their eyes met. "Bella." She usually called with so much emotion and she pushed a lump down her throat."I'm here."Holding firm her hands, Isa brought her head to lean into hers. "I am here ma" There was a subtle crack in her voice but she didn't let go until Majorie was asleep again, which was in few minutes—it was all she did now. And towering over her, tears filled Isa's eyes. She couldn't bear this. She couldn't bear to see her aunt this way. It was as if she was good one moment and her who
