Chapter Thirty.

“You’re pregnant.”The doctor’s voice seemed to draw her out of her subconscious as Patricia sat up in her bed. Her fingers twirled nervously around one another as she realized what this meant.“It’s not possible” A shrill whisper escaped her frail lips. She avoided the sincere eye contact of the doctors in front of her—a physician accompanied with a gynecologist. It was the third time they had broken the news to her, and the third time Patricia had replied the same way in disbelief. She quivered, not out of cold. But of fidget.Of nervousness, and confusion. Because something of this levity could change everything. What was she to do? Was she going to tell Leonardo that she was carrying his baby——of course it was his baby, he was only man she’d know in about six years. Was she going to tell him that it was successful, the time they were trying for an heir? What was she going to do?A million questions rattled her head as she buried her face into the palm of her hands. She didn’t kno

"Mother." She arose from the edge of the bed, drawing to the floor the duvet and Isabella smothered her dress behind her as she brought her gaze to settle on the elderly woman in the wheelchair before the both of them.Leonardo stepped away from her, which was forward and had his arm outstretched. "Mum this is Isabella" He introduced in a thick voice and Isa curtsied to the scrutinizing gaze of the woman who appeared to the indifferent."Isa, meet Freya. She's my mother." He turned back to her and a smile charged to her lips, curving it to the side. Freya retained her emotionless facial expression as she nodded."It's a nice name." She croaked before her hands settled on the wheels, propelling her forward. "Leonardo" She called and he was out the doors, closing it behind her."I hope she's not like the other one." Freya threw her head back at him as Isabella clung to the doors, raising her hands to her ears to hear the subtle echoes of the ongoing conversation. "Her name was Patricia,

"Mom"Patricia's hands fell between her thighs as the lights that hung from above shone in her eyes. If you looked close enough, you'd notice her quivering as she set her eyes on Elena. She'd only just gotten back a few hours ago, and after that much pondering, she decided to let her mother know of the unborn child—perhaps she could have a better solution."What is it?" Elena gritted through her teeth and Patricia cupped her chin in defeat. "Oh my God, look at your head, child" Elena suddenly charged towards her, holding the side of her face to examine the bruises."They did this to you." She said and Patricia pushed a lump down her throat. She was always fearful and on-edge around her mother but she managed to stutter. "I—i was in an accident, ma.""But this is all their fault, look at you." Elena replied, scrunching up her face in distaste, unwilling to look at her own daughter. Pat had tears well up in her eyes as their eyes met. "It's not" She said and Elena pulled away from her,

Chapter Thirty-Three.

“Fuck yes.”Joan let out a sweet, little cry from her lips as her hands fell to Ivan’s strong chest, rotating her hips on his manhood. She bent backwards with her long dusty-brown hair as his hands clasped firmly around her throat. He pushed into her, thrusting aggressively and the creaks of the bed became louder as they approached climax, luckily the door was sealed shut—in an entirely baby-proof apartment. This was the only upside since Isabella left. Ivan was the only upside in her life, right now.“Harder” She was insatiable, and he groaned deeply from the back of his throat in pleasure. Her perky breasts bounced in the silhouette across the walls as Joan’s moans intensified. He was like a god, and even fucked like one. Hell, she could straddle him all day. Moving her hips in a circular motion, Ivan began to jerk forward, burying his chest between the warmth of her bosoms. Her wetness was the lube as she thrusted back and forth. His teeth met her hard rock nipples and her hands

Isabella sat into the car, closing the door behind her to silence the incessant beeps from its ignition. It wasn’t until Leonardo sat in as well that he started the engines.“Have you sent out the invitations?” He threw his head over his shoulders, reversing out the driveway of his massive villa and she pulled out her phone, seeing fingerprints across the screen that wasn’t hers. Arching her brows, Jazzlyn’s words seemed to echo.“Ma’am.”“I saw it while it was cleaning.” It wasn’t the first thing that she lost that was all of a sudden magically found by the maid—only if she could give it much thought would she realize the truth staring her in the face. She shook her head, diverting her attention back to Leonardo who grasped the back of her chair while staring back.“I have.” She cleared her throat and he let his gaze wash over her. “I already requested your dress from your stylist. You have to look pretty tonight.” He said, void of any emotion and she let a lump go down her throat. “

“No.” An earth-shattering yell escaped her lips as she fell to the ground. “No. No” Isabella cried, reaching for his body and holding it firm in her hands which were stained with his own blood.“Leonardo!” She stared heavenward.“Somebody help” Her voice was raucous from her screams, and he could taste the saltiness from her tears. “Somebody help” The whole party had stopped with people slowly caving in on her in the center. But she didn’t let go of him.Why weren’t they doing something? Why wasn’t anyone doing anything? His pool of blood gathered around the hem of her violet strappy midi dress. But she didn’t care—she didn’t care about anything in that moment. Because she could loose him. She could loose the man in her hands, and she wasn’t sure she’d survive it. THREE HOURS EARLIER.“You look gorgeous” Leonardo didn’t fail to compliment as his large hands struggle to grasp the little zip behind her violet dress. It was a custom made midi with a high-cut leg. Silk and draped in its

"No." An earth-shattering yell escaped her lips as she fell to the ground. "No. No" Isabella cried, reaching for his body and holding it firm in her hands which were stained with his own blood."Leonardo!" She stared heavenward."Somebody help" Her voice was raucous from her screams, and she could taste the saltiness from her tears. She began to panic as the entire floor seemed to close in on her. "Somebody call 911!" She screamed.LESS THAN AN HOUR EARLIER.Patricia just needed to know one thing. One thing that would change the course of the night. And her thin lips parted slowly. "Was it real?" She asked softly and he was restive in that chair, searching for the words to reply."How much of it was real, and how much was not?"It was on seeing the difficulty in his brows that she rephrased to the actual question she'd come that night to ask him and Leonard pushed a lump down his throat, gazing into her ethereal eyes."Did you ever even love me?" Her eyes threatened to close as h

The water swirled in the tank of the toilet, echoing a rushing sound through the system. Patricia walked out of the stall doors and went straight to the sink. Opening the tap, she placed her palms beneath. But her solitude only lasted a few seconds before she heard the sound of a gunshot ripple through the air above. Her heart stomped suddenly as she heard the screams that bestowed a moment later. And she swiped the tap to close, sauntering out the bathroom doors to see the immense chaos. The music was well subsided beneath the thuds from a hundred feet and Patricia turned around in utter quagmire. “What—What is this?” She stuttered, barely audible as she tried to reach for a waiter who’d let go of the tray in his hands, spilling a few glasses of red cocktail to the ground.Patricia realized if one person were to slip here, there would occur a stampede and a majority of guests would have their skins punctured by the shards of glass that laid capriciously on the floor—she needed to le

Joan rolled freely to the other side of the bed, and slowly, she brought her groggy eyes to open. The early morning Chicago sun poured in through her windows, aggressively spearing her eyes that were still barely awake. She groaned into the pillow, her arms raising in the air as she stretched. The birds chirped by her windows and the leaves of the close evergreen trees rustled with the breeze. She was always at peace with nature, so she’d rather wake up to this than a blaring alarm, even though it was just the morning after a long weekend. Her eyelids were heavy and for a moment, her thoughts confused but she did remember his face as the last thing she saw before closing her eyes—actually no, it might have been the cartoon on the television. But that would have meant Ivan carried her into the bedroom, where she now found herself. She sat up with disappointment clearing her eyes. And her hands grazed the empty portion of the bed right next to her—she expected to see him, but he was go

Chapter Thirty-Nine.

“Leonardo!”His hands ferociously barged through the doors as Isabella clung to him through the two-hour drive. “What is going on?” There was a crack in her voice. She was surrounded by red and yellow tapes that crossed through the entire entrance of his villa. And uniformed policeman that stood aside.Tears shimmered in her eyes as she let go of one leg of her heels—it was a terrifying sight and the fact that he had not said one word even haunted the more.“What happened?” Isabella yelled, her voice returning an echo as she grasped his arms roughly. “Look at me.” She gritted through her teeth, coming face to face with his clenched jaw.“You tell me what is going on right now, and who these people are.” Her words were followed by the stopping of an engine, and coming through the doors was Freya, alongside Sheriff Stevan. You know it was serious since she wasn’t in her assistive wheelchair. And Isabella turned to her to see the horror that filled her eyes.“Have you told you?” Freya as
