"Easy.." I breathe out, standing on the bed while holding the bedpost, trying to stay composed and not freak out. Sweat rolled down from my forehead as I was panting heavily. "Watch it!" I shouted as Christian turned to look at my scared form and narrowed his eyes at me in annoyance. "It's just a lizard." He sighed. "You know me, damn it! I am scared of any kind of insect!" I whined. "It's a reptile." He corrected me. "I don't care what it is! Just kill it already!" I just woke up and saw a lizard on the ground and my terror took over as I screamed, waking him up. And now he is looking for the lizard as I was standing on the bed in dread. "You have such a castle-like mansion can't you watch it out from insects!" I complained. He spares a glance at me and said. "It's not my fault. And a lizard is a reptile." His stressed face turned into a wicked smirk as he said. "I'll catch it and throw it at you." My eyes widened in horror as I shook my head no. His smirk grew wider.

Eugene said as he was leaning on the column. Our eyes widened as we stood up. He walked closer. "Your husband told me everything." He hissed in anger. “And I mean everything.” It gave me chills when he emphasized on ‘everything’ it gave me a strange fright but when he said this, he glared impulsively at Mother who gulped in fear. “We will talk about it later, Mother.” He growled and turned to me. "You think I am that stupid that I can't see the pain behind your eyes." He said as his eyes flicker with intense sorrow. I looked down in shame. "Mother, Can you give me the keys to our house?" He asked. "Why?" Mother asked in horror. "I have no intention of staying in someone else's house." He said with venom. "Please don't go, Eugene." Mother clung onto his arm as he smiled sadly. Just then, Christian came, when he looked at Mother's crying form he asked, "What happened?" Eugene let out an empty laugh as he glared at Christian, "You. That's what happened." Eugene growled. Ch

Christian POV:- That woman is driving me insane with her tears. “What does she want?” At first, she defended me in front of everyone, shocking me to no extent. I never thought that she'll choose me over her brother. Instead of taking her brother's side, she took mine. And after that, she became angry with me, which filled me with the guilt of breaking her heart again. Her words broke my heart and when I came to the room she suddenly asked for a divorce. “Just what the hell is wrong with her?!” And once again, lost in anger and the inner demon of mine, I scared her. I was trying so hard to remove those apprehensions and once again I evoked them. Once again, she was crawling beneath my feet like a vulnerable being. Just how much it shattered my heart. “Her place is not there.” I don't want her to be like that. I broke my promise, I doubt that she'll ever trust me again. She provoked me to become what I am not. I didn't mean to hurt her intentionally. Even if I don't

Sophie POV:- I went to the kitchen and leaned on the counter and began to let out deep breaths to calm myself. “What the hell happened?” Amid heartbreaking truths and the labyrinth of the mystifying realities which never occurred to me; Another strangely beautiful emotion aroused in me which I am not ready to accept. “What.. was it?” What I learned today was too much for me to bear, that's why I also didn't push him to tell me everything. But I don’t understand why Mother didn’t tell me, she should have told me. That’s why she tried to convince me to marry Christian but why can’t she tell me bluntly about it? Is there something more unbearable? “Honestly, I don’t think anything would be more horror-stuck than being sold to some rich person without being aware of it.” I muttered, shivering by the thought. “And this guy has known me ever since the beginning while I know absolutely nothing about him.” I added, shaking my head. Just how complicated our relationship is?

Mother stated to which I replied back quickly, "I forgive him, Mother, please... He can't be alone." I pleaded, remembering about that night. How badly it affected him only to hear I want to leave. "He? You are still thinking about him. What about you Sophie? He defiled you!" "He is repentant and I forgive him! I signed the contract, I have legally given him all my consent" I said, shutting my eyes. I know Christian is too shocked upon hearing my words but it's true. Whenever I look at him he is filled with penitence. It's been almost three months since that day. It's enough, I am the one who gave him this authority so why would I go against him? I don't want him to suffer anymore. “He neglected the basic demand of our contract. Intercourse, Mother. He doesn’t touch, maintains his distance.” I whispered, hoping she might listen but to no avail. "You are still not going with him. Accept her as your wife and love her, Christian. And you are free to take her with you." She
