Marco, I'm sure he is not telling you the details. He's definitely tight-lipped because of the trauma.” Tears started to dawn on her eyes. “You aren't here to check if I'm okay, right twin? A bandage was secured around the wound. “Finally you are awake, Alpha,” greeted by an old woman on her mid-fifties. She is carrying a bowl with water in it.“Who are you? How did I get here? Why did you call me Alpha?” His continuous queries rendered the old woman a smile on her face. She put the bowl beside him. “Save your questions, Alpha. You're going to exhaust yourself.” She reached for a towel and soaked it in the water-filled bowl. “We found you under a big tree. You are wounded and...” the old woman felt the hot blood rushed onto her cheeks. “...and naked.”Alpha Lachlan diverted his gaze. He felt the hot blood rushing on his cheeks as well. (38) XXXVlll: Watching From AfarAlpha Lachlan hid himself behind the shadows of nearby establishments. He is in the dark watching how Maridelle smiled to Sebastian. They are sitting in front of each other eating inside a restaurant just few meters away from him. They conversed as if no one is watching them; as if their worlds seemed to stop spinning and everything in the background fades; as if they are not on the run. Well, with their disguise no one would suspect that one of them is wanted.“That should have been me,” Lachlan whispered to himself. Again, regret creeps into him. He is all to blame.Lachlan enviously waited for them to finish their dinner. He had endured the misery seeing her with another guy. For a short moment she was stupefied by his unusual and ridiculous suggestion.“Are you serious?!” she said, still enwrapped by awe. “I don't know what had gotten into your mind to say that.” Finally she had herself back.“Yes, I am very serious, Mari. Wolf's blood is much tastier and nutritious for vampires.” Lachlan hesitated to say the last word. Is Maridelle a vampire? Could there be no chance she'll become his Alpha female?Maridelle turned her sight sidewards. He called her a vampire. The word that tells her how abominable her blood is. It painfully says that she belongs to the race she couldn't accept. Maridelle doesn't like what is happening to her. She cannot accept being called vampire, but that is what she is turning herself into. She fully gazed at Alpha Lachlan who doesn't get rid of his seriousness. “Sure. I wanted to know how tasty your blood is.”
