Princess
TOVA It took most of the rest of the day to get Erik down the mountain. Despite his jocularity, he was sore and tired, and we had to take it slow. No one complained. We all knew how close we had come to losing our king. Some of the warriors had ridden ahead to make sure that the accommodations were ready for Erik when he arrived. When we finally made it off from the mountain and out of the trees, we were greeted with hundreds of warriors gathered around, cheering for their king. Erik sat straight upright in his saddle, waving and thanking them. I followed, a smile plastered on my face. Someone came to take Troi’s bridle and help Erik off his mount. Another warrior came to my side, but I waved him away. “I will take care of my steed myself, but thank you,” I said with a smile. He bowed deeply and disappeared. I watched to make sure Erik was being helped into his tent and relaxed when I saw Garth hurrying towards him, ready to settle him into his bed. I took my time wash

Love You
TOVA I walked to the bed, stopping at the side. Erik reached out a hand and grabbed me around the waist, pulling me into the bed. “I want you so bad,” he said. “I want to make you scream.” “Whatever will the warriors think?” I asked with a grin. He didn’t answer, just pressed his lips against mine. I opened my mouth and felt his tongue. I moaned and his kiss deepened. His hand was running up and down my side, fingers dancing over my nipples and then down to my mound. I spread my legs and arched myself up a little, moaning into his mouth and begging for him to take me. He circled my clit with his fingers before plunging three of them into me, hard. I arched my back and opened my mouth in a wordless scream. His fingers started slamming in and out of me quickly and hard. I spread my legs wider and arched my hips up more, changing the angle slightly so that he was curving a little inside me. I started shaking; the pressure was building inside me, and I didn’t want him to s

Dreams
ERIKI dreamed last night. I dreamed of being hit over the head and dragged out of my tent. I dreamed of being back in the barn, afraid for my Realm, sure I was going to die. I thrashed around in my sleep, finding a soft body in my bed. In my blind panic I felt the need to be in control, to dominate. I climbed on top of the body and ruthlessly jammed my rod inside, pounding in and out, finding a release for all the fear and anxiety that was riddling my body. When I opened my eyes and my senses returned, I saw that Tova was under me, looking up at me with wide eyes, silent. I rolled off her in horror.Neither of us said anything for a moment and then I asked quietly, “Did I hurt you?”She paused a moment before answering. “No.” I could hear something else in her voice, but I was too far gone in my emotions to worry about hers in this moment. She lay very still next to me, barely breathing, waiting for me to make the first move or to break the silence. I considered things I c

Unexpected Rage
TOVAI woke up to Erik thrashing in the bed and groping around. I half sat up, looking at him. He was dreaming.I stroked his hair, trying to calm him, when he suddenly rolled over the top of me and yanked up my nightgown. His knee forced in between my legs and I shifted, trying to get comfortable, when he rammed his c^ck into me, violently. A small cry escaped my lips. It hurt. I was dry and not ready.I looked at him, not understanding, and then realized he was still caught in the throws of his nightmare. He had his eyes closed and his head turned, and he wasn’t looking at me. He grunted, spilling his seed inside me, and then finally awoke, turning to see me. His eyes darkened for a moment and then he rolled off from me. I said nothing.“Did I hurt you?” he finally asked. I was quiet for a moment before answering. “No,” I said. It seemed the only acceptable answer. He was sleeping, having a nightmare, and he had lashed out. The sheer power of it scared me but I calmed

The Interrogation
TOVA The night was long. I spent it in Erik’s bed, but we didn’t talk nor did we touch. I spent most of it afraid he was going to roll on top of me like he did the previous night. He seemed calmer than when he left the tent, but he wasn’t back to normal. I didn’t know what was wrong. I was gathering chamomile for the sleipnirs when I saw Leila’s battalion heading to a nearby ravine to train again. I looked for Leila and didn’t see her, so I called out to one of her mates. “Where’s Leila?” I stood, holding the basket on my hip and shielding my eyes from the sun. “Interrogation,” he shouted back. “Who is she interrogating?” I asked. “No, she’s being interrogated,” was his reply. My blood froze. “Do you know why?” I asked. “The High King thinks she had something to do with him being taken,” was his reply. I dropped my basket and raced back to camp. I had to ask two warriors where the interrogation was taking place, but the second one was able to lead me to the tent. I wa

TOVA I left the tent and went blindly back to where I was gathering chamomile before this whole nightmare started. I bent to pick up the basket and refill it with the blossoms, wilted now in the heat. Tears coursed down my face. I felt a huge sense of loss; not only have I lost my friends, but I feel like I lost Erik. I understood that he experienced some pretty severe trauma, but I believed that he could overcome all of it, if only he didn’t have Arne whispering in his ear. The sun was beginning to set, and I was having a hard time seeing the blossoms, so I picked up the basket and started down the hill. I would give the basket to the groom with the instructions to put a handful in the sleipnirs’ food every morning. Chamomile was a nice treat for them, and it was good for them, too. I entered the camp, and a guard intercepted me. “My queen, the king is requesting you.” I gave him a half smile. “I’m guessing that’s not how he said it, is it?” I asked. “He was pretty ang

Aftermath
TOVAI wrapped my arms around myself and hurried to the river. I held my tears in; I wasn’t going to let Erik be the reason they fell. I climbed down the bank and took off my clothing, slipping into the cold water. I gingerly sat down, letting the cool water soothe my aching skin and body. I scooted deeper where the current was faster and let the rushing water gently massage my body. I lay back and relaxed.I realized that I was no longer scared of Erik or of my future. I was angry and I was tired. I was angry at Arne for putting suspicions into Erik’s head that didn’t belong there. I was angry at myself for putting myself in the position I was in tonight. And I was mostly angry at Erik for allowing the trauma of what he went through overwhelm him so much that he turned abusive towards me, the person who was trying to help him. And I was so tired. I was tired of being treated as an object to be loved or thrown away at a moment’s whim. I was tired of the damn prophesy being

Chores
TOVAI was drying off at the river, just finishing a lesson with another warrior when Arne came stomping up. The warrior next to me stood at attention, but I ignored Arne, shaking the water out of my braid before pulling on a dry shift over my wet undergarments.“I have an assignment for you,” he barked. It took me a moment to realize that he was talking to me.“Yes?” I asked, mildly curious. I knew that I had been making him mad this entire week. For some reason my presence anywhere irritated him. It also irritated him that I didn’t care. He looked at me with barely concealed hatred. “The latrines are being moved and need to be cleaned,” he said. “There is a bucket and lye on the southeast corner. You need to go into the latrines, clean each one and then let the warriors know when it’s ready to be moved. They’re digging a new trench. When you’re done with that, the stable boys will need help mucking the stalls. They are filling in the old latrine with soil tonight so they

ERIK I had sent the guard after Tova hours ago and he still hadn’t returned.  I felt a brief moment of fear, thinking that she had fled, but then that fear turned to anger.  The more I thought about it, the more convinced I was that she had left and the angrier I became.  I knew that the guards feared me too much to bring me the news, so I assumed they were hunting her down.  They would get her.  If she was teaching warriors to swim this afternoon, she couldn’t have gone far. The guard finally came back, nervously shifting his weight between his feet.  I sat back, waiting for a report. “Sir, we had trouble finding the Queen.  We were finally able to locate her.” I was curious where they finally apprehended her.  “Where was she?” “In the latrines, sir.” That was not the answer I was expecting.  I looked at him with raised eyebrows, waiting for him to explain.  He swallowed nervously but

Shackled
TOVAI sighed with relief when the king left the stable.  I picked up a pitchfork and went into the stall I had been cleaning when he pulled me out of it.  Chaz was in there finishing up.“Please don’t antagonize him, my lady,” he said in a low voice.  I smiled at him.“I can take care of myself, but thank you, sir,” I said, soothingly.  He leaned on his shovel and looked at me. “No, my lady, you cannot.  The king is two different men.  He can be fun and jocular with us one minute and the next he is raging, and someone is losing a limb or their life.  He can be ruthless, even to those he loves.  If you push him too far, lady, you will have consequences.”  He turned back to the work. “We don’t want to see you get hurt,” he mumbled.  “High King Erik is not the same man when he is on the battlefield.  He is mean and merc
