All is forgiven
"Chin up! " the instructor barked. Lana was stepping out of her comfort zone again, this time at the gym. After noticing an opening in the self-defense class, she decided to sign up. What she didn't expect was the one on one attention that Debbie, the instructor, gave her. It was just the two of them in the ring, after no one else showed up for the early session. Initially, she was intimidated, but after reminding herself why she was doing it, Lana decided to take a leap of faith. Running from Danny wasn't that great of a life plan, so she had to prepare for the inevitable confrontation if she ever had a chance of reclaiming a normal life. She hated to think of herself as weak, or defenseless, so learning how to protect herself was empowering. With every punch thrown, she could feel her confidence building. More than she needed to develop a new personality, Lana felt she just had to break down all the walls she had built up to protect herself in her marriage. Dan wa

Boxing
Circling the ring, Xyrus kept creating combinations for Lana to follow. She was a quick learner, and she had great form. Careful not to be obvious, he caught a few glimpses of her amazing body as they continued their workout."Good job," he commended her after she landed a left hook. She had a bit of fire behind her punches, and he was impressed. Most women liked less aggressive workouts, so the fact that Lana enjoyed boxing was intriguing. It was one of his favorite pastimes, and knowing they could have that in common felt like a good sign. It didn't matter though, because Xy had promised he would not ask Lana out again. They had made things right after his failed attempt at hitting on her, and now he just wanted to let things go, confident in the knowledge there wasn't a woman in the city who could say she had been harassed or bothered by Xy Ashington. He had really been sick about pushing her.Now he just wanted to focus on helping her with her exercise, but from th

She was boxing!
Sitting in his office, Xy felt more powerful than usual, thinking back to his wonderful morning with Lana. She was the perfect start to his day, and he couldn't stop praising himself for making the last-minute decision to go to the gym before work. Cancelling a meeting to enjoy lunch with her was an easy decision. The two had so much fun together and Xy felt it was the first time he'd laughed so much in years. Work had taken over his life, but it was difficult to acknowledge that until he sat across from Lana. She was what he had been missing-a connection that allowed him to relax and forget all that he was supposed to do in the office. It wasn't until he watched her walk away that he knew how much he'd missed having that special connection with someone. What would usually seem like a full and exciting agenda, now felt more like a dreadful lists of tasks standing between him and his life outside the office. Just thinking of that concept brought a smile to his face. Wa

"Okay, we don't have any guests. Tell me about it before the lunch rush," Tina pleaded to Lana. She had told her about running into the hot guy from the grocery store, but promised to share more when they had time. Now, knowing that the lunch rush was only a few minutes away, she tried to take advantage of the down time."It's not much to tell," Lana blushed, a smile quickly spreading across her face. The truth was, she hadn't stopped thinking of Xy since the two parted ways after breakfast the previous morning. She'd wanted to share the details with Tina since she got to work, but now that she had the time, she felt a bit embarrassed by her giddiness. For the first time, she felt like a girl again, crushing on a boy."Don't get modest now. I want to know everything!" Tina prodded, placing her hands on her hips. The shop was empty besides one guest sitting near the window, typing away on a laptop while nodding his head to the music blaring through the speakers of his headpho

Breakfast Date
With her nerves going wild, Lana rushed to rinse the shampoo from her hair, not wanting to keep Xy waiting. She'd had so much fun boxing with him and getting to know each other. He was easy to talk to, and she found it hard to say goodbye when it was finally time to go their separate ways. After rejecting him so many times, it was only right that she was the one to initiate their breakfast, but man did it feel weird. For someone who was typically shy and soft spoken, Lana felt far out of her comfort zone inviting Xy to breakfast. Thankfully, he didn't allow her to back out when she got cold feet. It was just so foreign to her to be facing rejection, although Xy happily accepted her invitation. Soon enough, she was dressed, and after a few minutes in front of the mirror, she decided she was ready to go on what she refused to think of as a date, not wanting to get ahead of herself. Lana couldn't plan her life weeks in advance because Dan could show up any time. So there

A Proper Date
So engulfed in the new product mock ups his designer had sent him, Xy didn't notice Lana until she was standing directly in front of him. Slowly, he closed his computer, a wide grin spreading across his face as he watched her shift her weight from one foot to the next, looking nervous."All done?" He glanced around the bakery, noticing it was empty for the first time. When he arrived, it was packed with patrons, but now the bakery had cleared out, leaving no one but Lana standing before him. Forcing a breath he didn't realize he was holding, Xy was blown away by her beauty, staring with appreciation as she blushed before him. He loved the effect he had on her. It was obvious she liked him, though she still blushed as if she was holding a secret. Amused, he stood, quickly packing his laptop away before offering his hand."Ready?" he asked. Lana stared at his hand for a long moment before placing her thin fingers in his palm, allowing Xy to lead her out of the bakery afte

Thanks for the Night Out
With her eyes closed, Lana was left to her dreams as Xy caressed her lips softly with his. He was so gentle, and careful, treating her like a delicate flower as she pressed her thighs close, desire rushing through her quickly. As her mind swirled with thoughts, she tried to convince herself that it was all real because the way Xy made her feel, it felt like a dream. He had been a perfect gentleman the entire night, and now with a sweet kiss, she doubted it could get any better. While secrecy had been a cloak she found comfort in, Lana suddenly felt the desire to strip the layers away and reveal the true self she had shielded from everyone all these years. More than a little friend
"Good morning, Mr. Ashington," an older gentleman greeted Xy as he made his way into the office. He hated the formality of being addressed by his last name, but older employees demanded the formal structure, so he allowed it. Many of the younger employees simply called him Xy, and he was fine with that as well. There weren't many CEOs at his level going by their first names, but he liked to be an anomaly."Morning. What's on the docket for the day, Akira?" He greeted his friend and assistant as he approached his office. As usual, she was moving between two desks, with a headset on her head and a stack of papers in her hand."Good morning! How was your night?" She quizzed him, right on his heels as he moved into his office."Great. What are those?" Glancing over his shoulder, he struggled to get a peek at the paperwork she was holding."The contracts for next spring's line and the designs for this year's Christmas costumes," she smiled, carefully placing the sheets on Xy''s desk."When

First one
She had just unpacked the last of her boxes, standing back to take in her new place. It had all come together in the final hours as she found the perfect nook for every photo frame and knick-knack she had picked up from one place or another. The living area was very cozy and centered around a brick fireplace Lana couldn't wait to use. It was the selling feature when she first saw the apartment, daydreaming of cooler evenings when she could cuddle up on the sofa with a book and a cup of tea. She wanted to make a life in her new place and had all the trappings to make it happen. The small couch was more like a loveseat, evident that she didn't have much plans for hosting others or entertaining. It was a small space, but it was perfect for her. She needed to rebuild her life and it was the perfect setting to do just that. The hardwood floors ran through the entire apartment, including the small kitchen that featured an island with a metal countertop, covered by the cut marks

Lady wants
Lana Reign had been even more excited than Xyrus expected when he invited her out to the charity event. She was beaming as he walked her through the restaurant, and now at their private dining table, she was overflowing with questions about what to expect and how he had gotten involved with the charity. He appreciated her enthusiasm, smiling as he fielded her questions, trying to answer as many as he could."How long have you been involved with this charity?" she asked, glancing up from the leather-bound menu she held with two hands."This one in particular, I'm not sure. My friend keeps me in the loop of all the most influential charities. He's got an eye for spotting potential, and I just like to be a part of helping them help others," he answered honestly. It was his way of balancing out the way he devoted so much of his life to his career. He needed to help others, but sometimes his time was so limited, he could only lend money. Luckily for him, he had a lot of t
