CHAPTER 51
CRYSTINA’S POV I was in my room on Friday night, trying to pack some of my clothes so I could get move my thugs to Luka’s apartment in the packhouse. It must have been empty for a while because Miss Mary told me she sent some cleaners to get the place ready today. Since the last confrontation I had with Luka, I haven’t seen him. I didn’t bother to ask about his whereabouts from anyone because that’ll make them think I care about him. I wouldn’t even want to know where he went because I might end up being heartbroken with my findings. I got the approval letter to move to the packhouse from Baba today but when he didn’t say anything about Harry, I guess I wouldn’t be allowed to see him. Maybe I would never get to know the answer to those questions of mine then. My door flew open, pushing me out of my thoughts. I turned to see Luka striding in like it was his room. “Haven’t you heard of knocking? What if I was naked?” I was angry at his sudden intrusion. He can’t just go missing in

CHAPTER 52
CRYSTINA’S POV My eyes went wide at the sudden and tragic news. My heart went out to Grace and I wondered how she must have been coping with the news. I wanted to ask what happened to him but knowing Luka well, I sealed my lips. It was better to not as him and trigger one of his childish jealous traits again. “Won’t you ask me what happened to him?” I moved away from his hold and resumed what I was doing. I wasn’t ready to start another round of arguments over someone that I barely had two conversations with. “Do I have the right to ask that?” He shrugged. “Weren’t you anxious to see him the other day? I thought you wanted to ask him some questions,” “Since he’s dead now, I guess my questions would have to remain unanswered till I die,” Suddenly, he grabbed my hand and pulled me closer. “I was messing with you, he’s not dead. He’s just too weak to talk,” “Why? What happened?” This time, I couldn’t keep my curiosity at bay even though they always say curiosity killed the cat. H

CHAPTER 53
LUKA’S POV Instantly, I started laughing and removed his mask. “What the hell Luka?” She yelled“I hate it when you sneak up on me like that,” I raised an eyebrow as I stared at her. It wasn’t my fault that she couldn’t recognize my scent immediately after I walked in, it was her fault for shutting her wolf out and breaking our mind link. I’d noticed the connection had been broken since the day I went to see her at the school but I decided against asking her about it because I didn’t want to scare her. “Apologies for that, your grace. I promise not to sneak up on you like that anymore even though that was fun,” I laughed. She glared at me before she twisted her hand into a fist and punched my chest. We were back in the room already and she won’t stop talking about how I scared the hell out of her. She punched me the second time and I fell to the floor, holding my chest, pretending I found it difficult to breathe. “Stop messing with me, Luka, and find something else to do,” I s

CHAPTER 54
CRYSTINA’S POV It’s been two weeks since I moved into the packhouse and those two weeks have been the most silent of my life. I couldn’t say peacefully because my wolf was restless and I wanted to block her back but decided against it. It wasn’t supposed to be normal, blocking my wolf twice in a few months might make me lose connection with her totally. These past two weeks, I’d been staying at the apartment with Luka. He had insisted on sleeping on the couch instead of the bed. I didn’t bother to invite him to bed for the first few days but when I couldn’t take it anymore, I asked him why he was punishing himself. He said it wasn’t a punishment. He told me he knew I hated him and he would only touch me or come to me if I asked him to. I groaned as I remember his words again. Quickly, I stood up from the bed, took my bath, and was ready to leave. When I came out of the room, he wasn’t in the kitchen as usual. I could imagine him holding a cup of coffee and smiling as I walked out o

CHAPTER 55
LUKA’S POV “Draenei,” I repeated the name over and over again. I know I’ve heard that name somewhere but I just can’t wrap my head around where I’d heard it before. I’d given Baba and my Gamma the assignment to keep interrogating Harry and see if he’ll say anything else but under no circumstances should he be released from jail. I want to see if the person who sent him on this job would care enough to penetrate into my pack and rescue the kid. I’ll be ready if that did happen. “Any finding?” I asked Baba as he walked into the office. “Nothing,” He shook his head. “You?” “He’s not an Alpha. I’d called the filament of questioning to demand if any Alpha, old or new goes by that name and not even one person turned up,” Baba took a seat. “That’s unusual. If he’s not an Alpha, then maybe he’s a Vampire or even a rogue. Didn’t the elders say if his name sounded familiar?” I shook my head while I furrowed my eyebrow. Even though I didn’t think about it before but now that Baba mentione

CHAPTER 56
CRYSTINA’S POVThe full moon was the talk of the town. Almost everyone in the pack talked about it at every opportunity they could get. It rarely happened these days, the last time they witnessed a full moon was two years ago. From stories that I heard as a child, the full moon does happen once in a month or once in two months but these days, climate change has also affected it and the wolf’s full moon became a once in two years occurrence. Even the students were released from school to return home early as it was possible for some of the wolves to go rabid or mateless wolves to attack each other and nobody wants their kids to witness that. “How bad is it?” I asked Paige. She and Samer have also been talking about it. We were on our way out of the school premises because we had to ensure all students had left before we did. “Really bad. Some wolves go rabid, and newly marked mates also jump each other. It’s going to be a long crazy night. I guess I’ll have to lock myself in my room

CHAPTER 57
LUKA’S POV “How do you feel?” I asked Crystina as I placed my lips on her temple and caress her face. My palm was large enough to hold her small face. I smiled at her and she smiled back. It was morning already, the moment I’d dreaded the most and I hope she doesn’t hate me for what happened last night. Last night, after I realized she was already asleep in the kitchen, I picked her up to bed so she could sleep better while I went out of the room. I was on the balcony when the full moon appeared in the sky and the first thing I felt was a sudden cold air against my skin before a tingling sound resonated in my ear. My entire body was as if it was on fire and I closed my eyes to control my mind. The first thing that appeared to me was my mate, Crystina and at the thoughts of her, I stood up from the balcony to check on her. She was still sleeping soundly and that brought a smile to my face despite the fact that I was dying inside. At least,

CHAPTER 58
CRYSTINA’S POV Luka hadn’t said a word to me since the day after the full moon. It has been awkward and unusual to be in the same space as him and not argue or talk with him. He would come home late at night after I’m asleep and leave very early in the morning before I woke up. I know he was angry about what happened but it was all a misunderstanding. Yes, he was right that I was disappointed about marking him. I’d never planned on laying claim on Luka in the heat of the moment like that. All my life, I’ve thought about marking my mate after I heard female wolves could mark their mates as well. I’d always thought of laying my claim on someone that I love but with Luka, that thought never occurred to me. It was never in my plan to mark Luka because I don’t love him. That marking was the only thing that I had left after everything was taken away from me. It was the disappointment that made me cry and not the fact that it was Luka that got my mark. Today, I plan on waiting for him t

CHAPTER 59
CRYSTINA’S POV After Nico’s wedding, I and Luka went back to ignoring each other again. I wasn’t ready to talk to him because I didn’t believe he could do that to me. He told me himself not to talk to Nico and now, he took me to his wedding, for what exactly? What was he trying to prove? Was he testing me or trying to see what my reaction would be to seeing Nico getting engaged?Nico is my best friend and of course, my first love, I wouldn’t deny that but after seeing him at his mating ceremony I didn’t feel sad about anything. In fact, my feelings were indifferent and I was happy for him. A tiny part of me wished that was me standing beside Nico but as long as this universe exists, I don’t think that was possible anymore. That part of me that wanted to be together with Nico was somehow dead and I can’t deny the fact I was a little pained about this. My eyes met that of Luka more than once during the ceremony and he had that smirk plastered on his face. It’s been four days since the

CHAPTER 60
CRYSTINA’S POV Luka had an evil smirk plastered on his face as I walked into the house. I don’t know why or what was going on but I watched that smirk slip off his face as I moved closer to him. His jaw clenched and I could see the veins running through his neck. He was angry about something but I was too pissed to care about that. “Why didn’t you tell me about Paige’s family?” I asked calmly. I knew attacking him instantly like that wasn’t smart but I couldn’t think twice about approaching the matter in another way. “She’s your best friend, isn’t she? You care more about her so why should I be the one to tell you about what happened to her.” He spat. He turned away from me. I watched his back as he walked into the bedroom. “She didn’t tell me anything and you made me a fool out there the same way you did at Nico’s wedding. Why didn’t you tell me he was the one getting married?”“As I said earlier, they’re your best friends, I’m nobody to you,” “That doesn’t explain why you did t
