Summer POV"Lyra," I called out, but there was no response."Lyra...!" I said again, but still, there was no answer.Frustrated, I kicked the coffee table in the centre of the room, wincing at the pain before glaring at Damien, who was sniggering at me."How can I get the wolf to come out? Does she only show up when I'm in danger?" I muttered to myself.I had even gone to the dock earlier and threatened to jump into the frozen lake, knowing I couldn't swim, but Lyra had remained silent. Now, it was as if she had never existed.I glanced at Daniel, who frowned at me."That's no way to talk to a wolf," he grunted."Then show me instead of being quiet and watching me suffer!" I snapped, biting my inner cheek as Daniel raised his eyebrows."I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap. I'm just frustrated," I said, trying to calm down."Get your act together because we'll need you for the upcoming feast," Daniel muttered before standing up and walking towards the door."Meet me in the room later," he

SUMMER'S POVThe full moon was out, and I found myself back at the training centre, this time with Damien instead of Daniel. I was unsure why Daniel had ditched me, but he had made an excuse about having something important to do. However, I found it difficult to believe, considering he was only sitting on the bench a few feet away from where Damien and I were training. To make matters worse, he was watching all that we did. I was tempted to confront him and ask if he was busy, but I didn't dare to do so. Instead, I kept my thoughts to myself and decided to focus on the training.Damien caught me zoning out and smacked me in the head, making me wince. I shot him a glare and darted towards him, attempting to swat him, but he dodged and gripped my hand, twisting it behind my back before shoving me to the ground. I growled in frustration, eyeing my bleeding leg grazing against the grass."See why Daniel was berating you? How the hell will you bring out your wolf if you can't stay focused

WINTER'S POVThe decision had been made to cancel the Alpha feast in Slade's absence, but we were still celebrating. It wasn't the same as the feast; it felt like a last feast- knowing it would be our last before the attack. At least, that's how it felt to me.I sat at the head of the long banquet table, scanning the crowd of werewolves around me.The hair at the nape of my neck prickled, and I shuddered as my heart thumped. It had been happening since I stepped into this hall, and the feeling even got stronger. My instincts told me that we were in danger. We were being watched, and someone was ready to strike when we least expected it.But who? I couldn't tell. The crowd in the hall made it difficult for me to tell who was with us and who wasn't.The warmth of the fire in the grand fireplace filled the room, but I still had goosebumps. I caressed my arms and heaved a breath; my eyes fixed on the entrance, then darting around the crowd occasionally. My nostrils twitched at the aroma

SLADE POVMy entire body ached as if I had been beaten with a stick. My head throbbed as I reluctantly dragged myself up from the bed. Gripping the edge of the mattress for support, I groaned as my shoulder ached. It felt as though the weight of the world was on my shoulders. My mouth tasted sour, and I wondered if Winter's potion had contributed to the unpleasant taste. She always ensured I drank the disgusting concoction whenever she deemed it necessary.Wincing, I slowly manoeuvred myself down from the bed, knowing it was a bad idea. If Winter found out I was up, she'd throw a fit and might even chain me to the bed.Walking to the vanity, I tried to remember why I had woken up in the first place, but my thoughts were chaotic, and my head spun.I gripped the edge of the vanity table as the room tilted. Emitting a groan, I leaned into it while blinking back the haze clouding my eyes. Perhaps getting up wasn't such a good idea. It was definitely a terrible idea, but I couldn't help bu
