Despite the circumstances my heart is racing at the heat between us.My skin tingles where he grips my neck and I just want to sink in deeper, craving more. I’ve long since stopped fighting my attraction and desire towards Damien and I lean in as he moves his mouth against mine. There’s hunger and desire and this raw primal attraction which my wolf is bathing in.But at the end of the day, I have to pull back, despite wanting more.“You stink,” I finally manage to say once I catch my breath. “You stink of too much blood.”Damien studies me, “Should I shower?”For an instant, he reminds me of the child I met while in the Arush, and then I bink and that image is gone.“Wrap things up, please,” I step back. My tone is polite and it’s taking every bit of me to keep myself calm. He seems to respond t my calmness, “Okay. Let me make sure that our room is secure and then you can go there. I’ll wrap things up quickly and come to you.”“After showering.”“After showering.”He starts

“So, we’re just going?” I watch Damien as he moves about the room, looking for something. “What about the castle? After what happened the last time, do you really think it’s a good idea to leave it alone like this?”“I trust Fera.”I scoff, “So you say.”He stops what he’s doing and gives me an incredulous look, “What’s that supposed to mean?”“I mean,” I sit up, glaring at him. “You and her are skirting around the issues between you two, like two bulls in a ring. Neither is willing to engage. You won’t apologize for how you treated her all these years and she won’t put her faith in you again.”Damien looks uncomfortable, “She doesn’t want me to apologize.”“How do you know?”“I know her.”I stare at the man my heart now beats for, “You’re a coward.”“Hey!” Damien growls at me. “Watch it!”“Or what?” I shoot back. “What’re you going to do? Not apologize to me?”His jaw sets, “Why are you so persistent over this topic? She knows I care about her. She doesn’t need my words. Sh

Damien’s kiss is fierce and as he backs me into the wall, I can feel the throb inside of me of the link that connects the two of us. The mating bond has been growing stronger and right now, there is a fire building inside, a desire to connect and meld, and I give in, wrapping my arms around Damien’s neck.He growls in delight, understanding my intentions. He doesn’t ask if I’m ready or if I want to rethink this.No. The Damien I love wouldn’t ask. Once he had his answer, he would take. He’ll seize and he’ll devour, consequences be damned. My body responds to the hunger in his and when I feel my clothes tear, I know this is it. And I know I’m ready.I’m ready to put the past behind and choose to be happy again. There is no fancy bed or fragrant candles to set the mood. There is burning desire and need and the desperation of two souls to once again unite. My cries are loud and he is rough and gentle at the same time, making me reach a heaven I never knew existed. My heart feels

It’s a bar that we end up going to.The moment we step inside, even I can tell that this is not a human only bar. I can sense the magic in the air which meant there were Others here.We make our way to the counter and my stomach suddenly rumbles.I flush in humiliation and Damien snickers, before reaching out and grabbing a menu from the bar, “Here. Get something to eat.”As I look through the menu, I decide to get a burger, done rare, and some water. I’m just about to place the order when I see a picture nailed to the wooden pillar next to me. It has a picture of a woman. One of the customers must have seen me looking at it, “That’s Regina Lorne, the missing woman.”“I’m sorry?” I give him a confused look. “Who?”The man is wearing a cowboy hat, “You know, that girl who went up the mountain and never returned. Her parents posted that up, thinking she’ll return. They’ll keep searching till the next one goes missing.”The next one?I must have said it out loud because the man

Damien lets out a soft growl but the old man waves his hand, “I’m not a threat to you or your lady. I’m just telling you what I know. I’ve seen a couple of hardheads think that just because they’re ‘different’, their chances out there are better than us normies. The fools never came back.”I exchange a look with Damien who seems to be suddenly amused at the term ‘normies’. “How do you know they never came back?” I ask in a low voice. “And how do you know what they were-”“He’s has witch blood in him,” Damien comments, leaning against the bar. “What?” I shoot a quick look at him, surprised. “How do you know that?”“His wrist,” Damien grabs my chin in that overly dominating way of his and turns my face in the direction of the old man’s left wrist. There are three tear shaped black mark on his inner wrist. The old man grins, “My mother was one. Left me with my old man. But she kept coming around. I don’t have her gifts but I have a sixth sense. And that sense is telling me that wh
