The raised hands turned out to be people volunteering to assist the newcomers. When Alpha Amal permitted the first one to speak, Sam was already on the edge of her seat, so when the person spoke, she visibly calmed down.“Sir, will they need any help settling in?”At that, another distant hand went up, asking, “the homes they will be staying in, are they clean?”“Will they be allowed to help us with the harvest?”“Do you know if there's anything they don't eat? I would like to bake them a ‘welcome to the neighborhood’ cake.”Over and over, the questions came, and with a smile, Alpha Amal addressed their concerns. Yes, he told them, they would need help settling in. There were children who had lost their families, and they would need help settling in. No, the homes were not clean yet, and they were sending pioneers, who would be arriving the next day, would they be so kind as to help them clean up their new home?Sam beamed with pride at how the entire meeting broke up into diffe

Is That Ok?

The next few days were quite the frenzy in the Dark Orchard pack, and Sam found that she was glad to be so busy. The day after the town hall meeting, River from Weeping Willows showed up along with Eve, and Sam and Alpha Amal had gone into town to welcome them and make them comfortable. The trip to town was quite quiet that morning as Sam was not used to waking up so early - she had to wake up two hours earlier than usual, and was still feeling a brain fog from waking up so early. “Sam-” tried Alpha Amal, but she merely turned away from him in an attempt to catch a few more winks of sleep. When they got to town, she allowed him to help her out of the car and they made their way to the town hall, where River and Eve were both standing beside their luggage, wide smiles on their faces. Sam immediately saw that she and Alpha Amal were not really needed there; the pack members had been more than hospitable. They had fed the two guests, and every few minutes, one more person came over to

Alpha Amal's POV.He watched as Sam rushed to her room and wondered what was wrong. Perhaps he was imagining things, but had she not been the one in a good mood in the car before they made the drive home? She had been beaming after River had made his grand apology, and there had been a certain shine to her eyes. Now all that was gone and had been replaced with a frown and an attitude, and he had no idea what was wrong. He grabbed the bouquet of flowers he had gotten for her and climbed up the stairs, heading to his room to write the note for her. He was supposed to have done that at the florist, but the sun had popped up from behind a cloud, and he was worried that Sam would get sunburnt. The instant he finished writing the note, he was on his feet and headed towards her room. In her hurry, she had forgotten to shut the door in between their rooms, so he went through it, making a beeline for her bed, where she laid, fully dressed. He did not want to startle her, so he took steps ba

In The Spirit Of Hospitality

Sam had never felt quite as foolish as she did in that moment. The flowers were for her, and she had overreacted. Even if they were for Paisley, she realized, he had already done so much more for her than anyone else had. He had given everyone left of her clan a new home. He had gone after every whim she had, and had given her his time even when he didn't have to. He was kind and had not even treated her as a slave from the instant he got to know her. He had left her room, but she could feel a sulk coming on. She had told him to set down the flowers and a message on who to deliver it to, and she had not expected him to truly set it down, but he had. “These are for you,” he had said, and she had frozen in place because what was she supposed to say to that? She had expected them to be for someone else. She did not move while he got out a vase, put water in it and wedged the flowers into the water. When he had left her room and shut the door, she waited a few minutes to make sure that

You're A Secretary?

Sam was the one who picked up the phone on the day that Alpha Amal's mother had been discovered missing. It had been 6 shifts since her arrival at Alpha Amal's pack, and it was around the time that Alpha Amal and Paisley were supposed to get married. The entire town had not known of the date, so there were no worries there, but the members of the mansion knew, and had been passing around furtive glances at each other.Paisley's father had reached out to Alpha Amal within this time and asked him to reconsider marrying Paisley. The way he saw it, Alpha Amal and his father were the ones who stood to gain from the marriage, and he pushed for Alpha Amal and Paisley to get married.“Amal, you have known Paisley your whole life! This marriage had been in the books since your grandfather died, what are you doing changing everything? ”“Mr. Stephens, I have told you and told your daughter, I will not be going through with this marriage. I have made my decision, and I will be standing by it. I

Elder Caleb

Sam and Alpha Amal turned around to go to his father's room. She tapped his shoulder and he went over to his father while she left the room for them. She did not want the anger of Alpha Amal's father directed at her that morning, and since his wife was god knows where, she knew that he would run unchecked and she did not think she had the strength for that. Outside of the room, she could still hear the strong hard taps that Alpha Amal sent to his father's shoulder, and Sam pitied the man a little bit. When he did not wake up and Alpha Amal came back out, she went in with him and went into the bathroom to grab a glass of water. From that glass, she sprinkled some water over his face, and the man sputtered awake, a look of shock and then irritation coloring his face.“Who let you in here? Are you insane? You splashed water on my face?” he turned his focus to her and frowned. “And you, Omega slave, you are in my room, holding the water that was splashed on my face. Are you insane? ”Sa

A Promise

Chapter 57.Alpha Amal's POV.Looking around the table at all the concerned faces, his reality finally hits him and he gets it. His mother has truly been kidnapped. He knows that it was not done by Mr. Stephens, because he was not even in town, but he knew that he would have to search the Stephens' property.Sam had just asked him what the plan was, and for lack of a better one, he announced to everyone seated at the table that they were going to be searching the Stephens' Property.Across the wide wooden table, he took notes of the looks of shock and disbelief and tried to explain his logic to them. “Do you recall that I was supposed to get married to Paisley around this time? The wedding had been scheduled and everything, and all I had to do to set off preparation was announce our engagement at the festival we had in the fall. Things were going as planned, but I came across some new information that made me rethink the decision. ” Intentionally, he looked over at Sam who had a

Blue Dress

Sam and Alpha Amal made their way over to the mansion and as soon as she got down from the vehicle, she went to the kitchen to grab a tray. Neither of them had eaten that morning, and she knew that an apple pie had been baked. She was not really up to talking right then, but she knew that in Alpha Amal's company, she would end up talking. His room was locked so she used the intermediate doors to get in and went over to his verandah. He was lying face down onto his pillow, and usually she would walk over to him and kiss him, but enthusiasm did not seem to be the order of the day. She turned to leave and then on second thought, went over to him and gave him a pack on his cheeks. After that, she went out of her room and began the stressful walk over to the servants' quarters. On a normal day, she would let well enough slide, but that day she just needed her best friend and a hug, and since Charity was within reach, she could see no reason to deprive herself of what she needed. She went

Suspect Much

The next day, everyone in the mansion tried to go on with activities as usual. Alpha Amal had asked everyone to be on high alert, and the entire mansion was buzzing. Throughout the day, random acts of kindness were being done to Sam, and she was truly confused. One of her favorite things to eat with pancakes was bacon, and that morning, she was giving a breakfast of bacon and pancakes with eggs. Aside that, she was also given everything she asked for without so much as a single question. The pack members seemed to be giving her the best treatment possible, and she was confused. Alpha Amal would not notice, because he was in his room, entirely focused on the phone lines, but even he was getting treats; the chef had sent someone up with a bowl of chocolate covered strawberries, and his glass or orange juice had not run out even once. He had an extra phone brought into the room for his convenience, and over a call, he and the Elder Caleb spoke about strategies they would use to catch th

Did You Dream Of Me?

After their meeting with Alpha Amal's grandmother, she and Alpha Amal went over to the kitchen, to get a midnight snack. They had watched about 4 James Bond movies, and she had fallen asleep against Alpha Amal's shoulder. When she woke up a few hours past midnight, a blanket had been thrown over her shoulder, and Alpha Amal's grandmother was nowhere to be seen. A note had been propped under the half-empty popcorn bowl, and she pulled it out to read. In her loopy script, she had written: “When you wake up, please take the popcorn bowland empty the contents into the waste bin. Also,I know that Amal will not wake up on time, sowhen you're up Sam, be a doll and wake him too.PS: I do not trust his father as far as I canthrow him, and as you know, I am a frail old lady.Look into him, okay?Signed, G’ma.”Sam had let out a soft chuckle when she read the letter, and she had done what the note said so Alpha Amal could have a few minutes more to sleep. She had gone to her kitchen, put
