KENZIEI had been seeing a lot of Axel recently and he was taking me out again tonight. We had agreed on going to a local club. He said he missed music and was tired of the businessman lifestyle.I purchased a new dress for the occasion, something completely opposite from what I would usually wear.I wore a very short black dress teamed with high heels. When I met him at the entrance I was surprised when he pulled me against him, his lips meeting mine as we kissed. It was the first time he had kissed me, and he tasted like alcohol."Sorry. You look amazing."We made our way into the club with its loud music and many gyrating bodies. We got some drinks to start off the night, and my heart nearly stopped when I looked across the bar and found a familiar pair of blue eyes staring at me.It was Wyatt. He had a redhead on his arm who couldn't have been older than twenty-one, maybe twenty-two.He held my gaze before I turned away wondering what the hell he was doing here. This didn't look l

×KENZIE×Monday morning swung around and I sat in Wyatt's office taking calls and filing in his diary with appointments.Today was a very busy day for him, so I barely saw him which I was thankful for.I still felt embarrassed by what happened between us at the club.Of course, it didn't even come close to what happened between us on the night of my twenty-first birthday party, but that was yet another memory I would have preferred to forget.I was just walking out of the office for my lunch date with Axel when Wyatt passed me looking annoyed.A part of me wanted to ask him what was wrong, but I thought better of it. We had a strictly professional relationship now, I had to keep it that way."Kenzie, where are you going?" He called out from the door of his office.I paused letting out an annoyed sigh before turning to glare at him, "I am taking my break, Mr. Grimes."He nodded, an amused look playing on his face, "With that country boy who's out here trying to be a businessman?" There

×KENZIE×I was moody as hell.Axel and I weren't on the best of terms for the past week due to Wyatt's meddling ways.Axel wanted to join me as my date to the charity event but Wyatt made sure to forbid it.Now, thanks to Wyatt, I was bored and my feet hurt from the heels on my feet.At least I had a glass of booze in my hand."Smile. At least pretend to be happy that you're here." Wyatt hissed in my ear.I grimaced, "Is that better?"He rolled his eyes, "Kenzie, come on. Look around you," he waved his arm about, "You're here with all of these rich jet setters. And for once, we all have the same goal, to make the world a better place.""I know, but we both know that I am not needed here. You could have brought anyone along with you, there is no need for you to have your assistant here.""You're right, you're not here because I need you here. You are because I want you here."I was speechless at his sudden and blunt honesty.I looked away, feeling shy again. Wyatt seemed to have a way

×KENZIE×I sat on the jet feeling somewhat uncomfortable. I was scared of flying, I always had been.I wasn't sure what started the fear, but I was scared to fly for as long as I could remember.Wyatt was sitting opposite me, staring at me."What?" I asked."Why do you look so uncomfortable?""Probably because I am? I don't like flying. You know this."{PAST}I toyed with the hem of my white blouse."Baby, is that what you're wearing?" Caleb asked me.I looked down at my attire; a white button-up shirt and a pair of blue jeans teamed with high-heeled ankle boots."What's wrong with what I'm wearing?""We're supposed to fly out to Paris."I blinked at him in confusion, "Yeah? And? What's wrong with what I'm wearing?"Caleb sighed heavily, "Baby, we're going with a lot of influential people. Can you maybe wear something a little more fitting?""I told you I'm not going.""Caleb-" Wyatt paused as he walked in, "Am I interrupting?"I crossed my arms over my chest, "No. Caleb forgot that I

×KENZIE×I walked out of the meeting room with an arm full of papers and files. The meeting had gone well and Wyatt now had a new business teaming with Grimes Enterprises."That went well, and much quicker than expected."I nodded, "Yeah," I shifted the papers from one arm to the other, "Can we get back to the room so I can put these down?""Yeah, sure. Lunch after?""I guess we can do lunch after." I walked over to the elevator and Wyatt pressed the button."Do you want me to take those?" He motioned to the papers with his head."No, I'm fine." The elevator doors opened and I stepped in."How are you finding the job?" He asked as he stepped into the elevator."It's fine," I shifted the papers again, "I'm enjoying it.""Even working with the tyrant?"I laughed, "Yes, even working with you. Although, some days you get a little much."The lift jumped and I yelped, dropping the papers, "What was that?""I don't know." He pushed at a few buttons and I noticed the elevator wasn't moving."
