Lia had already turned to return to the room when her legs stopped. Before one could say Jack she found herself beside the couch which he lay and watched him snoring quietly. Tempted to feel his beautifully knitted brows, she extended her hand but his hand grabbed it and in a blink of eye crashed onto his chest. His eye lid snapped open. “Where are you going?” he slurred smugly. Lia froze and her breath hitched. Was he awake the entire time? Did he know she was watching him? She gulped as her eyes wandered and fell on his mouth. His lips were barely an inch away and in the silence of the room she could feel the heaving of his chest. The telephone beeped and she used the opportunity to flinch away. Her face heated with embarrassment. Filled with a sense of awkwardness, she tried to amble towards the telephone stand. But he stopped her as he jumped to his feet. “I will get the phone,” he said and Lia swore she saw a smirk on his face as he strolled towards the telephone. She darted t

LIA’S POV I had just snuck back in when I heard a knock on the door. For a moment, my mind jumped and I wondered if anyone had seen me. I took off the clothings I wore, stuffed them into my wardrobe and slipped into my night dress. “Enter,” I called out as I climbed into bed. Luckily it was only Clara. “The Alpha is here to see you,” Clara announced. My body stiffened. The thought that Derrick was right behind the door to see me after he had just captured my innocent father made my inside churned. How could I face him with the way I was feeling inside? And why would he even come to see me by this time of the night. My teeth grounded in my mouth. “Should I let him in?” Clara's voice jolted me back. “When did he begin to seek permission before coming in?” I hissed before I told Clara to let him in. I put on a robe over my night dress and started out of my room. He was already in the sitting room by the time I was out. His face was beaming. Beaming for the arrest of my innocent fa

LIA “Carlos…” I mumbled, “what are you doing here?”“Lia…” he tried to touch me but I flinched back. “Why are you here?” I asked again, unable to stop my voice from trembling. It was only months ago but it felt like a year had gone past already. The guy that was the beginning of my problems was standing before me and my mouth could not find words. My legs were feeling too heavy to keep standing and a bulge had lodged comfortably in my throat. “Were you following me? Where did you start to follow me and why are you in this Pack?” Like I was supposed to ask the last question knowing it was going both ways. “Lia.” He called. His voice was hoarse and his eyes filled with something I preferred to think was guilt. Carlos Jnr still looked very much the same. His handsome features were still very much intact but he looked leaner than the last time I saw him. To think his father just betrayed my dad… my teeth clenched. “Lia, I—”“Stop! If you are going to start speaking rubbish about how y

As Derrick sat in the mini bar in his chamber, memories of that day flooded back. The very first day he’d met Lia. Who knew an intruder would be stirring him up this much, making him hunch in the bar drinking. Something he hadn't done in a long while. He'd kissed her a couple times more but none matched their first kiss. It was a kiss he gave his vigour because he wanted to impress his new bride that he did not love but was only marrying to satisfy his parents. Her boldness had taken him aback in the dungeon. When he suggested she be his bait, he never thought she'd agree to it. He was never going to harm her anyways and was only trying to scare her and find out what she knew. Then she said she was forced to put on the wedding dress. Strangely he believed her words even though he didn't voice it out. Laura may have loved and wanted him but his lack of affection towards her had pushed her to the cliff. He didn't blame her for making the decision she did. What about their second weddi

LIA I woke up the next day with my entire body feeling knackered. When I opened my eyes, it was strange–the bed I lay in was not the usual one I slept and woke up in. The scent was different. The strangest part–something heavy, like an arm, was laying across my chest. I nearly screamed if not that a memory flashed in my head instantly halting my scream. The memory came in bits and was unclear but I couldn't ignore the realness of it. O stilled and waited for it to replay. That was when I looked and saw Derrick. I froze, because that moment the bits and bits of memories started to merge, leaving the unclear zone and rearing up strongly. And very clear. I gasped, unable to believe what my brain had just revealed. How? Why? Halting the many questions floating through my head which at that moment I couldn't provide the answers, I began to detach myself from Derrick’s arm. The more I detached, the closer he snuggled towards me. Tired, I stopped and my palms held my head. “Lia, what hav
