[|]Lucas' POV"I've collected the results I got from your urine sample and it shows that you are pregnant, Miss Garner,"It felt like my heart stopped beating for a second the moment those words flew out of the month of the nurse in front of me. I didn't know how to feel about the report. I was mostly shocked at the news that I could barely form any words."Pregnant?"I turned my head to look at Jackie. She was visibly shocked as I was. The nurse hummed and stretched out her hand that held a paper. Jackie reluctantly took it and glanced at it."You're three weeks pregnant," the nurse said. "Also, we'll need to have you registered at the hospital here for your checkups as your pregnancy progresses. There are also other options if you feel you don't want the pregnancy, from the way you reacted.""Thank you, ma'am. Can we come back some other time, please?" Jackie asked and the nurse nodded before walking away.I kept my eyes on Jackie as she stared at the paper. Her hands were shaking

[|]Jackie's POVI felt so different now that I knew I was pregnant. I started acting carefully, scared that something was going to go wrong with the child growing in my womb. I felt conflicted within myself too, a feeling that made me feel like my whole life has changed somehow. It was a case where I had to choose options and anyone I chose would change something in the future, which is why I needed to speak to the women in my life before anything. I had met my mother and cried to her, asking her if I did something wrong by getting pregnant early. She had said I didn't and told me that a child was a blessing and that I also had the right to abort it if I wanted. After our conversation, she showed me all the baby pictures she always carried with her in her wallet. It warmed my heart. Now, I needed to hear from my best friend who was sitting on a chair, staring at me from across the room."Did you get the test done?" She asked and I exhaled."Yes and it says that I am pregnant," I rep

[|]"I can do it myself," I whined as I tried to walk into the kitchen, but Lucas blocked my path."I will take care of it myself. Go sit down and I'll cook for you," he said."You don't even know how to cook."A day after our conversation, Lucas has not let me do anything around the house. He went on about me getting rest and not overworking because I was pregnant. It was annoying because I didn't like being idle. I pleaded so many times for him to let me find a place for me to work instead of being idle but he declined. He was beginning to get on my nerves."I will watch videos of simple dishes to cook. There's no harm in trying, right?" He asked and went to the kitchen while I stood, glaring at his bare back.I hissed and turned away then went straight to the living room. I sat down and crossed my arms, fuming inside me a little. I groaned and rolled my neck, trying to lessen the knot around. When it cracked, I sighed in satisfaction and leaned forward to grab the remote on the gla

[|]"I don't fucking care where you have to go to find her! I want Ruth Hamilton found before the weekends, do you understand me?!" I jumped at the harshness of Lucas' voice as he spoke on the phone. I was still in disbelief that such a little girl would do such a thing. A girl who had also been assaulted just like me? Why would she hurt her brother with such a thing? She put the devil to shame with her plan. She was so coy that no one would even suspect her. "Are you okay?" Lucas asked and knelt before me. "I'm fine. Stop bothering yourself. I was used to hurting you," I said and he shook his head."No, you were the only one hurt. She used you, she is a woman for fuck sake and she fucking used you! I will not spare anyone who hurts you. I don't care if they are blood-related, fully or partially. They will get what's coming to them," Lucas said with so much venom in his voice that it sent a wave of fear through me."Just don't do anything that'll put you in prison, please," I plead

[|]The following day, I was coming back from the hospital when I heard my name being called. I raised an eyebrow at the familiar voice before I turned around to see who it was. I blinked at the sight of Clark, running toward me. I looked over my shoulder before walking to meet him at the start of the stairs leading to the apartment building."Hey," Clark said as he came to a stop in front of me. "Hi," I responded, feeling awkward to be in his presence, knowing he had caused my best friend some mental stress and was a jerk for denying the pregnancy Maddy had for him."You still live here, right?" He asked and waved at the building behind me. "Yeah," I replied, suspicion heavy in my voice. "Why'd you ask?"Clark scratched his head and shrugged. He looked flushed for a moment before he sighed."Okay... The thing is, I messed up. I offended someone and it caused a serious problem and I'm looking for a way to have her forgive me. I don't know what she likes so I'm here to get her an apa

[|]Lucas' POV"I can't believe Ruth could do such a thing. When you called and told me about it, I wanted to argue that it isn't true," Axel said from his spot on the floor. "Ruth was the only one I cared about before you and I reconciled. She cared about me too and we always had each other's back. Yes, she threatened to make my life a living hell if I don't stop smoking, beating people up, and walking with criminals. But, it's just sad that the people close to us can do such a thing," I said, rubbing my face in agony.Ruth was someone I would kill for before Jackie came into my life. Even before she was raped by one of my adoptive father's business friends, I had always cared for and protected her but now, I wanted to hate her, to despise her for going low. It was disgusting that she did such a thing to another woman, in the same manner. "What are you going to do now?" Axel asked."I already called a friend of mine. He's going to get more information about her before this week com

[|]Jackie's POVI looked from one person to the other, trying to understand what I had just seen. They had been hugging each other when I stepped in, making me confused because they were not too touchy with one another. They barely had any conversations, so it was suspicious the way they had been hugging themselves."You're back," Maddy said, getting off the stool. She pulled down her dress and I eyed the motion.I could trust them but I was still human and felt jealous or suspicious. Lucas and Maddy had a past, which made me easily feel uncomfortable about what I had seen."Lucas and I were just talking about our families. Since we used to kinda know each other before," Maddy said and walked over to the couch in the living room. "I got you the dress for the event."I pushed away every feeling I had and smiled. "Really? What dress?" I asked as I approached her. Maddy raised the bag and handed it to me."You can try it out later. Right now, I want you to tell me all about the plans y

[|]"Mom?!" I flinched at the angry voice of Maddy who grabbed her mother's arm and tugged her back. "What, Maddy?" She asked in a tone that was heavy with humor."Stop this. You're always embarrassing me. Stop disrespecting my friends. How many times do I have to tell you that Lucas and I are just friends? Stop trying to play matchmaker with every guy that I fucking know! Also, mind your words. I came here because you and dad forced me here and I will not tolerate it if you insult my friends, especially Jackie. Do you understand?"I felt relief at Maddy's defense and then smiled at her mother when she glared at me with hatred in her eyes. The woman has always hated me because of my friendship with her daughter and has accused me of a lot of things that I was not guilty of all because I am poor and not in their status."Very well then but I will be keeping my eyes on her. I don't want anything going wrong," she said and walked away, nose in the air.Lucas wrapped his arm around my s

Slight Matured Scene. [|]"I can explain," I said with speed and Maddy blinked. "Explain what?" She asked, tilting her head with a raised eyebrow. "Because what I just saw was the most fantastic comeback ever! Give me a high five!"Maddy raised her right hand in front of my face and I only stared in utter shock as I tried to grasp what had just happened."Um." That was the only word I could speak.Maddy looked past me and moved me aside. She sighed heavily and shook her head at her mother who was looking more shocked than before."Now, dear mother. How did it feel when someone insulted you for a change? It felt bad, right? Listen, I will be the one to put you in your place if you ever attack Jackie again. Also, Jackie isn't the reason why I have a sex life. Who I fuck isn't anyone's doing but mine. It's not hers or my fault dad can't service you down there anymore."I covered my mouth so I would not laugh at her words. It was hilarious and savage. I had to look away to pretend like

[|]"Your sister writes love letters to you?" I was stunned to hear this. How was it so possible that she did such without anyone knowing. "None of her letters came to me... Wait, I remember one time in Redside High. I had just finished practicing when I found a love note in my locker. I didn't even bother reading it because I tore it up and tossed it into a trashcan. That means, she has been writing this for a long and Axel's hired guy had broken into our house to find them."I stepped back and started to imagine why someone would feel attracted to their brother. It was disgusting to me. "Why would she do that when she knows we are related in some way?" Lucas asked, running his fingers through his hair in distress."Maybe she knows that you're her half-brother," I replied and he stared at me with an incredulous look."We are still related by blood, Jackie. We share the same mother. Nah, something doesn't feel right about this. It's just... It's crazy and disturbing that she would t
