HERMESA DARK THREAT has shrouded and it's striking from the shadows. The death of Bennie caught me completely unguarded. Though I wanted to investigate the case alone, a helping hand would definitely be needed since I could not decipher the scent as any of our neighboring enemies, and I wouldn't want to drag my pack members into a personal feud. The death of one was enough.Bennie's murder bothered me, but not as much as the current situation with my present mate. I'd need to attain a perfect equilibrium between my mate and the pack. Somehow, most of them felt she was connected with Bennie's death which was impossible. There had been no suspicious activities or feeling that caught my nostrils since her arrival. As I found solace in the soft mattress situated at the centre of my room, I heard the tapping and dropping of water emanating from the bathroom.Layla was in there, taking a night shower. Should I join her? I asked myself, but quickly answered. It wasn't the time for such. Our

HERMESTHE SCENT OF Layla's arousal still lingered in my room after a hour passed by. I couldn't tell If it provoked or excited me. I was mad at myself for the inability to exercise control. For a moment I had totally lost it when her red cherry lips jammed mine. Resistance seemed impossible, and my wolf gave in to her. With her strong sexual appeal, my wolf was starting to doubt I'd be able to pull through the investigation without sleeping with her, but I was determined to not make it happen.Bennie's murder was not the only reason I was restraining myself sexually from her. The guilt of Sarah's death was very much present in my heart no matter how hard I tried to brush it off."I shouldn't allow this to weigh me down," I whispered to myself, heading towards my wardrobe.I put on a flannel to accompany the black jean that fitted my waist, down to my ankle. The plan I had today with Layla was strictly training, and nothing would prevent that, irrespective of the lack of control displ

HERMESMY EYES WERE fixed on Layla in shock that she always looked more prettier, whenever she recovered from attacks. Her creamy skin would glow like silver, and cherry red lips would be so full and lush like a fruit needed to be plucked and eaten."Are you sure there's enough energy to speak?" I inquired for affirmation. My wolf didn't feel she needed it, but I was trying to be careful. The same mistake shouldn't be repeated again. My conscience was giving me a lecture on how I had failed Sarah, and was about to blow it with Layla by constantly putting her in dangerous situations. Obviously, she is inexperienced."Yes, that forest. It...it is.." she stuttered, not being able to find the right words. My stomach rumbled and I wrapped her hands in mine before whispering."It's okay. You are alright, I shouldn't have involved you."Her mood changed suddenly. I felt a surge of energy push through her as the statement escaped my mouth. She flinched, and withdrew her hands from my warm gri

HERMESWE HAD NOT even gotten to Riley's Meal when Greg caught up with us. Although, we had made a quick stop at the house to change the Escalade SUV to a more undercover vehicle like mine. I had ceased the opportunity to grab my phone that I carelessly left inside my room before leaving the house earlier.Twelve missed calls from the highschool kid, James Woods. Oh! Sixteen text messages? What could be wrong? My right hand shoved the device into the thigh pocket of my Jean, before I dashed out of the house.Gregory was driving while Layla was giving directions. There was no much of directions to give, It was pretty much a straight road."So, we are gonna get used to receiving directions from you?" Gregory asked Layla who was seated beside him on the front seat next to the driver's seat. She didn't seem to take it as a question. As Gregory parked the car in front of a triangular shaped duplex with a smoking chimney, she hopped out of the car like an upbeat cricket. The house was proba

HERMESI WAS COMPLETELY thrown off my feet when I saw Hunt, but I managed to keep my composure, acting like I wasn't bothered by his resurrection. All I wanted was to get James back. If he refused to hand him over, I wouldn't mind killing him again. I would ensure his head came off this time around."I also heard you lost your mate to another pack of your kind, very pathetic," Hunt scoffed. "It's even more pathetic that you are responsible for a family member of your mate's murderer." As Hunt spoke, his eyes drifted to behind me, probably trying to fish out which one of the wolves was Layla. That was it! I couldn't take it anymore. The little patience I harboured had been exhausted, I gave in to my killer instincts.Swiftly, I swung my hand, and gripped Hunt's neck. I wanted to rip out his throat with my protruding claws at that instant, but the sound of corking guns restrained me. I wouldn't want to loose any pack member over a petty beef with a mediocre hunter. It was very important
