Chapter 21
Tristan’s POV It’s my mother? Why was I so nervous to ring her then? Sitting on the edge of the large double bed in my temporary room, I stare at my phone. I knew I needed to make the call. I had called my mother thousands of times about important things, so it was foreign to me why this time was bothering me more than the others. Stephanie Bryden was the sister to the Alpha of the Sun Valley pack; she was an imposing person. I even feared her, and I was her son. She was the kind of person you did not want to upset or get on the wrong side of. And if you did find yourself on the wrong side, you better do everything you can to get back on the right side of her quickly. “Just hurry up and get this done; you’re making it worse on yourself”, I try to coach myself. My hands shook as I slid my finger across the screen, unlocking my phone; it took me a few tries as my hands were sweaty. Once I found my mother’s number, I pressed the call bu

Chapter 22
Stacy’s POV A girl! All these hot guys, and we get stuck with a girl. I wasn’t happy. I will be talking to Mason about this. He will have to fix this for me. Otherwise, he will have to deal with me and trust me; he will not like it if I’m not happy. Plus, I saw him flirting with all the new girls. He’s lucky we aren’t mated yet. Otherwise, I would have a thing or two to say about it. “Stace, where are you” my brother called me. I knew it was just to rub it in my face that I had to move out of my room for a while. We had thought it would be a guy, so mum had already told Jaxon he was going to be uprooted from his room, but now it’s a girl; mum thought it wouldn’t be as nice for her to stay in my brother’s room and I agree! But why does it have to be my room? “What do you want, Jaxon? I am busy, you know,” I say. I had been staying in the dining room as the guest room was being decorated. It hadn’t been finished in time for Miranda to stay in, so l

Chapter 23
Ayla’s POV Finally, I could relax; I hadn’t even realised I was tense until I had all three Chase brothers surrounding me. I couldn’t stop staring at them. They were all equally gorgeous yet similar to anyone just meeting them, but the differences were huge to me. Aiden’s emerald eyes were so striking that it was hard to look away from him. His jet-black hair makes them even brighter. Then there was Archer; he was on the other end of the scale to Aiden with his silvery grey hair and sapphire eyes; it sent chills through my body. Finally, Axel was the perfect mix of his two brothers, with his black hair streaked with silver. His eyes were a stunning shade of amethyst and could captivate you in mere seconds. I couldn’t believe they were mine. It still blew my mind. Michael had been talking, but I had missed the whole thing, thanks to my inability to focus when the Chase brothers were around. “So yeah, we have a lot more research to do, but we have m

Jacob’s POV Watching Ayla being carried out of the woods by one of those Triplets really bothered me. Since they had been here, they had stuck close to her; I don’t think I have seen her once without them, not since she was last at school anyway. Goddess, I don’t even know why it bothered me so much anyway. It’s not like I even like her. We haven’t been friends for years now if you could even call us friends, to begin with. Sure, we spent some time together once, but I quickly learned it wasn’t a good idea. Lucas, my older brother, is best friends with Mason. They made my life a living hell for hanging out with Ayla, Mason hates her, so naturally, Lucas would too. I took way too many beats for it and didn’t intend on ever receiving any more, not for her anyway. She smelled amazing, though; that’s what has been worrying me. She shouldn’t smell that good to me unless we are mated. “I can’t be mated to Ayla; my life would be a living hell if I were!

Tristan’s POV My head hasn’t stopped racing since the call with my mother. I can’t believe she would automatically assume I wouldn’t be able to handle this situation myself. I guess it shows her faith in me, doesn’t it? What makes it worse is that she didn’t even make herself known to me; I was left in the dark like everyone else here. How on earth would I have pulled this off as my work to my uncle if she wasn’t planning on telling me in the first place? My time was mostly wasted here right now. Ayla was nowhere to be seen, always wrapped up with those triplets. I wondered about trying to mingle with people I had no intention of spending time with ever again. Mason invites me to join him occasionally, but I reckon it’s only because his father encourages him. The guy’s twenty-one and still needs his father to tell him what to do and when. The town here is quite nice; I guess most of its people are friendly enough; I’m just a bit lost on what I’m

Chapter 26
Jacob’s POV The hours dragged by as I waited for my so-called girlfriend to turn up. She hadn’t sounded impressed when I had called her earlier. I told her it was an emergency and she needed to come over immediately. Annoyingly she had fobbed me off, saying she had some jobs to do with Miranda and she needed to pop over to the pack house to help the Luna out. I knew it was a massive lie. The Luna never asked us for help, well, hardly ever. And I knew she wouldn’t ask Stacy if she knew she was helping one of the representatives out. Jaxon had even bailed on me after an hour or so. Apparently, my mood was bringing him down, and he didn’t want to be around when his sister got here. He knew all too well what her temper was like, and even though we were best mates, he didn’t want to be on the receiving end of it. I had no idea what I would say to her; I was just going to wing it. There was no way I would let her use me and take me for a fool. She’s no

Chapter 27
Stacy’s POV How could he do this to me? Now I had to make sure Mason was my mate; what would I do if I’m unmated and boyfriend-less at my party! Things couldn’t get any worse right now. “Stacy! There you are,” Miranda called, waving at me from across the street. “I spoke too soon”, I inwardly cry. “Hi, Miranda, where to next” I moan. “Oh, well, I think I’m okay now. If you want to go do your own thing, you can; I’m heading to the pack house; is there anywhere you need to go I could drop you there” she offered; she was borrowing my dad’s car today, so really, she had to drive me wherever I wanted to go. “I’m going there too, thanks; a lift would be great” I climb into the passenger seat and let my mind drift. “How on earth had he found out about Mason and me?” I wrack my brain. “Jaxon!” it didn’t take long for me to work out. It must have been my brother. “I’m going to kill him”, I swear. The dr

Chapter 28
Ayla’s POV We made it home just in time to get changed for Laura’s planned meal. Unlike the other night, it was only for the visiting packs and their hosts. I knew Laura would kill me if I didn’t attend, especially as I had spent the whole day up and about. Archer drove us back while I slept the whole way on Aiden’s shoulder. Hopefully, it will be just enough to get me through this evening. Then I can finally sleep in my bed. Right now, I didn’t have time to dream of sleep; I had to throw something on that looked like I gave a damn and made at least a small effort to look presentable. Aiden had insisted; one of his brothers ran to their rooms and grabbed their clothes. He was making them change in my room. He didn’t want me to be alone for even a second. It was kind of sweet. This time though, I will not be looking at them change and getting dirty thoughts; I just don’t have the time! Less than fifteen minutes later, we were stood at

Chapter 29
Austin’s POV Three days ago, our daughter should have turned eighteen. It was one of the most challenging days for us yet. My wife Amy refused to come out of the bedroom. This year was the reason we had to lose our daughter in the first place. Five other couples like us had to lose their daughters that night as well; none of us spoke about it; we actively tried to avoid each other if we could, but no one wanted to talk about it. That night had been hard enough, and it never got any easier every year. I worked in the same office as Stephanie Bryden, mother to Tristan, the Alpha’s nephew. He was currently away on pack business, representing the pack in the Winter Moon packs territory. Every day was the same; I’d say goodbye to my almost silent wife, kiss her on the cheek and drive to the office. But yesterday morning wasn’t the same as it always was. Sitting at my desk, I could hear Stephanie having a very heated conversation with her son; the door to her office was not fully closed

Chapter 30
Aleena’s POV Something changed, something I have never felt before, and I don’t know what it means. My world is different to that of the shifters—all shifters, not just the werewolves. Most races live ignorant lives. Unaware of anything around them that doesn’t directly impact their lives. This is why I am seen as a myth or a legend if you prefer. Magic is an everyday thing to me; it’s as natural as breathing. Sadly, most want to exploit it, so my race is much smaller now than it once was. We never used to hide away. We were once one of the most respected and dominant races this earth had ever seen. Then some became greedy and wanted our power for themselves. They soon learnt it’s not something that can just be taken. It is our whole being, our life source. Take our power; you take our life, meaning the power dies too! When the world shook earlier today, I knew something big had happened; I just didn’t know what. So, I wasn’t overly surprised whe
