He woke up late the next morning when the sun was already up and bright, and he stood up and sauntered out of the room. He paused and scanned the sitting room, and was almost sighing aloud in relief that she was finally gone when he saw no sign of her, but just then, he heard some noise from one of the windows in the sitting room. He walked to the window and looked out, his hands on the ledge, and when he still saw no sign of her, he looked down, and saw her squatting just below the window, her hands stained with dirt as she smoothed a small mound of soil around a flower.
