1- The Queen's secret
"She's lovely, isn't she?" Alethea crooned as she caressed the baby's cheek with her knuckles. King Adolph nodded trying to mask his wariness. Not that he was not pleased that he finally had a child and an heir to his empire, but he was just not really pleased that it had to be a girl. The kingdom was cruel and would eat her alive. He doubted that a female ruler would command as much respect as a male would and he was worried for the future of his daughter. As he stared down at the girl with bright brown eyes flecked with gold and features that had a promising beauty in the near future, he sighed and assured himself that he would be here to stand by her side and show her the ropes. He would even teach her how to use a sword and defend herself. He would make a beautiful warrior queen out of her. Alethea, his concubine nymph, placed a hand on his knee. "What worries you so?" She asked in concern, her lovely eyes searching his face. He always felt relief wash over him, anytime he look

2 - The death of the king's concubine
“What? The dire wolves got your tongue?! How dare you walk into my chambers like you own the place?! You came to spy on me, didn’t you?!" the queen hissed. "You good for nothing scheming whore! You have had my husband and now, you would have my throne?!" Alethea quickly shook her head in fear, still moving back. "No, no, I swear to the gods, my queen, I didn't come to spy on you! I swear!" "Then why have you come here?!" The queen snapped, obviously enraged. Alethea moved backward into the lounge since the queen kept on moving towards her in a slow but steady menacing way. "I have only come to inform you that I have been delivered of my child." The queen snorted in displeasure. "So, the whore finally puts to bed, uh?" She stopped now and crossed her arms underneath her naked firm bosom. "So, I figure that you have finally pleased my desperate husband well by giving him what he most desires, haven’t you?" She asked tersely. Alethea hesitated. "It's a girl." She swallowed hard, hop

3 - The princess-servant
"Just look at her blossom like a flower in spring." The queen in distaste said as she watched Theresa from one of her windows. She was walking out of the castle with a gathering basket on her arm. “I hate to admit that with the physical attributes of Adolph and that nymph, she turned out to be the fairest in the kingdom… but she still comes second place to me.” She finished haughtily. Lucas who was scribbling something down on a scroll, looked up for a moment. "She's seen eighteen winters, Ursula, what do you expect?" The queen turned away from the window and stared at him. "Eighteen winters and yet she finds no mate." Her voice was laced with mockery. Lucas sighed and put down his quill. "Yeah, and thanks to you influence, no lycan will woo her because of you. They all avoid her as if she is the very plague." Ursula snorted and poured herself a drink, then sat down on the furry-long, one-arm couch in the lounge. "I believe my subjects fear and respect me and so do they towards my

5 - A mermaid in the rocks
Theresa walked along the bush path and down towards the stream where the wood nymphs had their daily bath. She saw two barely-clad nymphs being wooed by a muscular satyr holding a flute and she called out in a cheerful greeting, "Morning, forest nymphs."The nymphs were beautiful creatures who lived in the forest. They were rather renowned for their melodious voices which inevitable pulled lustful satyrs to them. Unlike their distant cousins who inhabited other parts such as the water, caves etc., the forest nymphs were frequently seen more than their sisters. They enjoyed being great teases to the satyrs who enjoyed coming after the nymphs to woo and seduce them. The satyrs were known to be good flute players and couldn't resist the voices of the beautiful nymphs when they sang. Although being almost half human and half goats from the waist down, they still were magically pulled to nymphs who were of a different species. The nymphs turned to look at Theresa and one of them whispered

6 - Saving a Mermaid
Theresa stared at the mermaid in awe. She had heard of the creatures that lived in the unknown utopia of the depths of the sea but no one had really seen much of them, unlike their distant cousins who lurked in the rocky parts of the sea and lured sailors to their watery death with their alluring voices and personal hallucinations. This mermaid before her had a beautiful tail that looked so soft and glimmered as if the light of the sky reflected off it. The end of the tail moved like it had its own mind. It was as if she could run the thin and transparent end of the powerful tail on her face and her skin would not be bruised in any way. It was so resplendent; no wonder the mer-people always never revealed themselves at all to others, except of course when no one was there. This helpless mermaid had long hair which was adorned with different types of gems, very rare shells and beautiful bones of dead sea creatures that were yet to be discovered. Her breasts were covered by a thin film

7- Berry
Theresa placed the basket on the floor and went on her knees to look under the bed. Fortunately, the creature was still where she had left it. She could not exactly see its features because the room was dark neither could she hear it because the wind howled crazily outside, some of it slipping through the cracks in the wooden window into the small room to seldom flicker the flame of the candle which she had put on a moment ago after peeling off her wet clothes and donning a new dry one.She could however tell that the creature was still there due to his fluctuating dull light coming from its berry-like head which was almost twice the size of its body. The dimming light indicated the state of the creature that it was sick and she was willing to help it out.She stretched her hand under the bed and pulled out the fur she had wrapped it in. On her knees, the creature only reached her stomach which meant that she would be like a giant compared to its incredibly small size. Its eyes opened

8- The Queen's News
Theresa's eyes slowly widened in shock and apprehension. She had heard all about the scary tales of Pragoth and how it was the territory of the Lycans Guild who protected the realm against evil creatures slipping in through the weakening veil. The Queen saw her worried look and smirked. She had intentionally decided to take the wench there hoping that one of the creatures slipping through the veil could at least save her some trouble and kill her… but she also had something else in mind."I'm sure you wouldn't mind since no one will miss you here. You, unfortunately, have no friends here so no one will even notice that you are gone," the queen continued, "and since you have grown useless here and no man seems to want you for a wife, you might be lucky enough to find your miserable self a mate in Pragoth."Theresa listened without a word. The Queen continued. "But if no lycan or any other creature refuses to mate you, you are to serve the house of Darius as a servant, I'm sure the Alph

9 - Friends
"Hi," she said, her green tail swishing in the water behind her.Theresa sighed in relief when she saw Maris, "I thought you'd never come."Maris folded her arms over each other on the grassy shore and placed her chin on it. "I always keep to my promise. Sorry, I'm late, I had to rescue a baby porpoise from the tentacles of a nuisance giant squid."Theresa's eyes brightened. "A giant squid? And you went unscathed?""Yea," Maris smiled proudly, "I'm pretty used to it. So did you save that friend of yours?"Theresa smiled and said, "Actually, I brought it along with me," she nudged Berry out from behind the rock who had hidden when Maris's head had appeared from the sea.Berry tentatively stood closer to Theresa blinking its big eyes as it tilted its head from one side to the other to curiously observe Maris.Maris's expression was a mixture of a frown and a smile. "It sure has a large head for its size."Berry hissed and scurried back to hide behind the rock, mumbling its displeasure.

10 - Moon's Call
Blood sprayed wildly and gushed out of the gullet. More blood sprayed down on the wolves as the beast bellowed weakly, crazily moving around in circles as more blood pumped out of its shredded gullet. It swayed and collapsed on its belly in the stream with a heavy thud with the water washing its gushing blood downstream before it went so still, succumbing to its fatal injuries. The other wolves stepped back and watched the lone wolf who had intercepted the beast. The lone wolf with blue eyes remained perched on the beast's back, after sniffing the beast with its bloody muzzle to make sure that the beast was truly dead, thus confirming its death, he raised his head and stared at the other wolves with his piercing blue eyes that could make just about any wolf cower in fear. Understanding the unspoken language, the wolves looked up at the moon and howled in separate unison, paying homage to the lunar prowess of the moon and announcing their triumph. As one wolf was ending the howling, th
