He woke up late the next morning when the sun was already up and bright, and he stood up and sauntered out of the room.

He paused and scanned the sitting room, and was almost sighing aloud in relief that she was finally gone when he saw no sign of her, but just then, he heard some noise from one of the windows in the sitting room.

He walked to the window and looked out, his hands on the ledge, and when he still saw no sign of her, he looked down, and saw her squatting just below the window

  • The Cast-out Half-werewolf Princess    53. Cranky and moody

Lycidas walked into the sitting room and was about going into the kitchen when he noticed the ajar door, then he walked towards it instead. He stopped on the porch and looked left, then right, and there was no one in sight. He lifted his head when he picked up Theresa's scent, and he looked towards the bridge. Theresa was crouched low on the edge, trying to fish by snatching a trout with her hand. Does she have any iota of sense at all? Really, Hands? He shook his head pitifully at her as she continued trying to catch the trout that kept smartly eluded her hands in the water. He folded his arms across his chest and watched, obviously interested in how it would end. Getting frustrated, she began to use both hands, repeatedly plunging her hands into the water whenever a trout swam too close, but they were so fast that she ended up missing all the time.Determined to succeed this time, she braced herself, with her hands up and open to catch a big one which was sl

He paused and scanned the sitting room, and was almost sighing aloud in relief that she was finally gone when he saw no sign of her, but just then, he heard some noise from one of the windows in the sitting room. He walked to the window and looked out, his hands on the ledge, and when he still saw no sign of her, he looked down, and saw her squatting just below the window, her hands stained with dirt as she smoothed a small mound of soil around a flower. He frowned now, perplexed. "What are you doing?" She was startled by his voice. She looked up and smiled at him. "Well, good morning to you too!" She said in sarcasm. "What are you doing?" He asked again, impatiently this time. "Well..." She stood up and wiped the perspiration above her lip with her wrist, careful not to stain herself with her dirty hands. "What does it look like? I'm gardening of cours

Moments later, all traces of the sun were gone from the sky and night fell and the blanket of stars began to twinkle above. He heard the sound of water in the bathroom and fisted his hand against his mouth when he realized that she was having her bath. Soon, the sound of water stopped and everything was quiet again besides the sound of her soft footsteps going about in the room.He stared down at the cold meal in front of him and his stomach growled. She had been the reason why he had been unable to hunt the stag in the forest, and now, he was hungry and the aroma of the soup that kept traveling up to his nostrils worsened his situation. With his fist still thoughtfully placed against his mouth, he stared down at the spoon which she had placed on the table beside the plate and he tore his eyes away from the food, his anger still apparently stronger than his hunger. After a long while, Theresa sat at the foot of the small bed in the small room that was bright with t

The room was dark, and she saw his blue eyes light up in the dark sitting room, fixed on her. She trembled as he slowly advanced towards her, and she pressed herself against the counter behind her. She yelped in pain when the hot pot scalded the side of her little finger, and when she turned, he was looming over her, his hands caging her in as he placed them on either side of her on the counter. His brow furrowed in anger as he glared down at her with his blue eyes and she had to bend her back backward in fear. "Don't-you..." He started menacingly in a cool voice. "Don't you...ever-shove-me-like that-again!" There was a hint of embarrassment in his voice. She stared at him without a word and watched him pull away, then he rolled his aching arm and added- "And you are paying for that chair." "But I haven't any money!" She protested. "Then I hope you do know how to use a hammer because you are making me a new one!" She frowned. "But I didn't break it! You are the one who fell

Hours later, Theresa moved gracefully around in the kitchen, trying to prepare dinner. Her bags however were still in the middle of the sitting room where Lycidas had abandoned them, and he was still yet to return from where he had gone to since his last unkind words to her. She knew that he hadn't left the house, if not she would have noticed him pass by to the front door, unless there was some back door elsewhere in the house which she didn't know about yet, and despite his assumed presence in the cottage, it felt desolate and made her feel alone. She had grown accustomed to hearing voices in the Alpha's house, and listening to the noise of several activities coming from the village, but it was absolutely different here. All she heard were the incessant chirping of crickets and other noises of other animals in the cottage she couldn't quite phantom. When she couldn't bear the eerie silence anymore, she had changed into her nightdress, although wary that he might app

"We are here!" Medea exhaled, staring at Theresa who was trying all her best to look happy. "We cannot go any further than this spot or we will be trespassing his land, and trust me when I say that he doesn't like that," she glanced at the bridge and the stream running underneath. "That stream is full of the biggest trout one can ever find because he hardly eats them...so, more than enough for your soup." Medea chuckled and Theresa only smiled feebly, the smile not reaching her eyes.Theresa scanned the quiet cottage and heaved a sigh. "Too quiet!" She said. "Boredom will probably make me lose my mind out here..." She mumbled as she took the bag from Medea, and Astrophel reluctantly gave her, his. Theresa turned to smile at both of them. "Thanks for accompanying me down here.""Anything for you, sister," Medea said and hugged Theresa.Theresa broke away from Medea who gave them some privacy by keeping her distance as Theresa turned to look at Astrophel who stepped forwar
