Chapter Sixty One
Logan’s POV I sat on the chair by my private swimming pool in my hotel, just staring at the calmness and pureness of the blue water of the pool.If I was having a good day, I would be in the pool right now, stark naked and swimming the day’s stress away. One way I like easing the day’s work and just getting my bones and nerves to relax is swimming in the pool. But not today. And I have not swum in this pool since I arrived here. Everything seems to be crumbling to the ground. Ethan had promised that it would blow over, and that all we needed was for another interesting story to come up in the internet, and mine will be stale and forgotten, but here I am, days after and I am still trending like the first day.Is it that the world has become sane overnight that no one else wants to stir up a scandal? I wanted to scream, but then again, I do not even want people to know that I am hiding here. Ethan says the press and paparazzi are looking all over the place for me like a vampire loo

Chapter Sixty Two
I was surfing the internet when I discovered that one could actually have college classes online. Excited about this, I immediately registered for my course online, which means I have to be on my phone for four hours every day, and if I successfully achieve that, then I am a full college student just as every girl or boy who attends classes physically.I am also happy because it will take my mind off things, and I also decided that I would keep it away from Logan and everyone else…except Tia, of course. Let the world think that they have succeeded in stopping me from being a college graduate. Let my classmates feel that they have succeeded in pushing me away from school, but I will throw them all into a state of shock when all of this is over.I took my notepad and started to write about my routine for the day. I would go for a run every morning, have coffee when I get back, shut myself in for four hours and attend my class, have food, take a nap, read a book, watch a show online-one

“It is not in my place to say, plus, you are doing so well in this new found routine of yours, and I would not want to have it spoilt.” She said.Immediately, my heart began to thump in anxiousness. “Tia, if you did not want to tell me, then you should have pretended that all is well when you came in here,” I scolded her.“I am sorry,” she apologized and I groaned in frustration.“There’s nothing to apologize for, Tia. You have already disrupted my peace. The least you can do now is tell me what the hell is going on,” I said.“I really should have pretended that all is well,” Tia said.“Don’t forget that you don’t pretend very well,” I said and smiled, intending to light up the atmosphere, but Tia’s face still remained gloomy. “Is it me?” I prodded.“No, of course not,” she quickly said.“Then what is it?” I asked stamping my feet on the ground because I am tired of prodding her, and I really just want to get on with my daily activity-that is if whatever the matter might be is not gra

Riley applied some sunscreen lotion and lay bare on her patio as she sipped on a glass of cocktail. It has been an interesting week for her, and she could not be happier.Logan has opened his arms to her in desperate need of a reliable shoulder to lie on, and her friendship with Leah is taking a different turn now. She sighed and smiled.Things are really looking good now. She has always been a fighter for what she truly wants. Resilience and persistency have been her driving force over the years, and she is glad that she also demonstrated that zeal with Logan and his intolerable sister, which of course, is gradually paying off for her.Her only concern now is how to get invited to the Secretary-elect’s party which is just in a couple of days. They did not uninvited Alice, and she wonders why considering the girl is a bloody peasant with no poise and class, and an absolute disgrace to the society. She had tried to get an invite, but then, if you did not get an invitation when it was

“What do we do?” Ethan asked Leah. They had met up at a café in Leah’s hotel because Ethan called and said he needed to talk to her about Logan and it was very important.Leah wanted to turn him down, because she is still very mad at Logan for pushing her aside just like that, but then, things are beginning to look good with her plans with Riley, and as long as she can sort out this mess all by herself, she was good.“We do nothing,” Leah answered indifferently.Ethan is shocked at that response. “You can’t say that, Leah. Logan is your brother, and he is fast galloping into ruins! No one will have him,” Ethan cried desperately, beads of sweat gathering on his forehead and the bridge of his nose. “We have to do something to rectify all of this,” he finished.“You are his manager, Ethan, not me,” Leah said.“I cannot believe this,” Ethan grumbled and got up. He placed his hands in his pockets and removed them almost immediately, and then repeated the whole exercise. “You are being pett

Logan’s POVThe waitress has just left my room after serving me lunch when the door opened again and Ethan and Leah strolled in. I thought it was Riley, and I already had the perfect excuse as to why I cannot spend time with her this evening already; she has been visiting me awfully too much, and I am becoming bored of her presence.“The queen finally decides to pay a wrecked man a visit,” I jested, flashing a fake grin at Leah. “And the tireless Ethan,” I said to Ethan.“You look a mess, Logan,” Leah said pitifully, then she turned to Ethan and said, “Does he take his bath?”“I don’t know. I think I should stay here with him so that I can tie him up and take him to the bathroom for a good wash every day,” Ethan responded without any humor.Leah did not bother to apologize. “What have you been doing with yourself?” she asked me.“Spending the whole day by my pool and getting roasted by the sun,” I responded and flashed yet another grin.“You look ridiculous exposing your teeth like th

I drove down to the house; a place I have not been to in weeks dressed in black suit and pants, and a tuxedo. Ethan made sure that I got the best even though it was in a rush, and then mounted cameras in secret places so that Alice will not know.I waited outside as the ticking sound of my wristwatch filled my ears, and my heart drummed for fear of something going wrong. What if Alice comes out and she is unhappy to see me? A message had been sent to her prior this day that she would be getting picked up for the party, although we all agreed to keep the full details a secret from her. Now, I feel deep in my soul that we might have made a grave mistake by not involving Alice in this play acting thing. What if the silly girl comes out dressed in baggy jeans and oversized Mickey-mouse t-shirt? I know I sent her money weeks before to get her dress ready, but Alice is a bosom friend to scandal, and I am not sure she knows the kind of party she will be attending, and so there is every ten

I did not know what exactly to expect at the Secretary-elect of the country success party, but it certainly is not so much class and affluence and elegance stuffed in one event. The flashing lights from bloggers are blinding quite alright, but I could still catch sight of prominent people. In fact, Tia did not lie when she said it was the party of the year, only that she did not express well enough. All of Tia’s descriptions and words and gestures cannot capture the enormity of the sight before me.“Relax, you are just as important as everyone else here,” Logan whispered into my ears, his breath sending warmth into my being. “And learn to smile. The camera’s are all over us,” he added.I opened my shaking lips and forced a smile which I am very sure that if the fucking press paid close attention, they would notice. While we awaited people who came before us taking their stand and snaps on the red carpet, I felt Logan’s hand slide around my waist and rested on the lower part of my wai

“The D’Nores!” the cheerleader of the party, a bulky but handsome and neatly dressed looking man stood on the podium, a microphone in his hand as he yelled our name in announcement of our entrance. The doorman collected my cloak and Logan’s jackets and handed us our bulletin for the event, flashing us a graceful and warm smile which put me at ease immediately. I bowed in appreciation to him, and Logan gazed at me with both a look of shock and admiration in his eyes.Inside the party is indeed, a magnificent sight. The lights shined brightly, and up on the stage, colored lights danced up and down. I saw lights, chandeliers, flowers, the bar stood lit by the corner of the room.People stood in twos and threes in their suits and tuxedos and attires and flowing dresses, talking in low tones and giggling with glasses of wine in their hands…some others entering after us with the announcement of their names. All the faces I am able to catch are people I have only seen in the television or r

Logan held my hand gently yet firmly as he led me to the dance floor. Other couples also joined in the dance as the soft and slow music started to play.“I haven’t danced before,” I told Logan. I had to tell him. The look of admiration in his eyes is just too intense, and since the evening has started out wonderfully well, I would really hate to ruin it.“Not to worry, Alice. Just follow my steps,” Logan said and I nodded.Closing my eyes, I allowed my feet follow Logan’s sway diligently. He locked eyes with mine, and it was as though there is no one else in the entire room safe for both of us. It was like a Cindarella story, only that I am the lucky princess in this story.Or unlucky…But now is not the time to feel unlucky, and so I closed my eyes to enjoy the moment. The music stopped after a while, and I smiled happily.“Do you want to sit down?” Logan asked with so much concern in his eyes.“No,” I said, my heart almost bursting out with joy. “I am doing alright,” I assured him.
