Emily withdrew her astonished gaze, picked up a pen, and, after a while, amidst the puzzled looks of others, marked an 'S' on the evaluation card. Instructors rated performances with grades ranging from 'S,' 'A,' 'B,' 'C,' to 'D.' Achieving an 'A' was rare because Emily was typically very critical.
