“Ghost!”“Ghost, where are you? Come here boy!”Gosh, does that dog ever listen...I then started walking again, looking around between the thick wood trunks, the moonlight guiding my path through the darkness, the sound of my boots ruffling through the fallen leafs disturbing the gravely silence.“Jules!” Kara’s voice echoed from not far behind me, causing me to take a halt.“What!” I yelled, turning around, squinting my eyes so I could see her through the thick darkness.“Come back, Ghost is here!” she yelled back.Great...just freaking great...I mumbled, walking back. This was our last night at the old farm, the one that used to be our home for the last two years. Pops, our boss, the one who received us in his home and gave us a decent job and a shelter, recently lost the fight with a severe illness, leaving all of us behind, in the hands of a cruel, perverted, narcisistic asshole, named Jack. His only son. As soon as his father died, Jack rushed and sold the farm for the best price

After we ate and paid for our food, we asked the waitress for directions to the famous mansion, then got back to our car and started driving, searching for the biggest house from around there, according to Mary, the waitress. It wasn’t actually hard to find it, since all the houses in DaggerStone were quite small and boring, the only one that stood out was actually at the outskirts and its huge roof could be seen from far away.We finally made it there, stopping in front of two huge iron gates, each decorated with a huge S in the middle. I stopped the engine, intending to get out and look for someone around there, but got stopped in my tracks by the sudden movement of the gates, noticing they started to slowly open for us so I sat in my place, waiting to have enough space to pass through the gates, then started the engine and moved forward.Once we got in, we looked around, realising it was actually a huge domain, spreading across miles away. There were two big gardens on each side, c

“Come on, Amethyst. Let’s take you outside.” I cooed to the beautiful dark horse in front of me, lightly caressing her jawline then gently grabbed the harness and led her outside the stables, to the closed pen.Once she got in the pen, I let her loose and she started trotting along with the other horses around the fenced area, her black short hair shining in the burning sun, standing out among the others as she was the only black horse, the rest of them being all brown.I then hopped on the fence and sat on it, watching Amethyst my favourite run around, while waiting for Kara to get back from the restroom. It’s been three days since we started our work here, but she seemed rather distracted, constantly inventing some stupid excuses to bail on me and disappear, doing god-knows-what. It was very weird and it also started to bug me, since I was left to do mostly all of the job by myself. Not that I was mad at her, but she could’ve at least told me what was going on. I was her best and on

I was already in my bed and tucked in, remembering what happened today all over again. This was way too fucked up...First, I found out that Kara was actually sneaking to hook up with someone and second, Logan tried to kiss me...no, he actually succeeded. And surprisingly, I kinda enjoyed it...and I hated myself for that.I couldn’t understand, why did he do that? Why did he kiss me, if he actually hated me? It was pretty obvious that he hated me by the way he looked at me every single time...it felt like I was his greatest enemy.Maybe that was his way of showing me that he can do whatever he wants with me, since I was nothing but a mere employee. Or maybe he was just a sick fuck who was just trying to hit on me.Either way, I was not going to give him that satisfaction. I was not going to give up on my job that easily. I was not going to show him that I was weak. Never.Kara now exited our bathroom and strode towards her bed, drawing my attention to her.I have to ask her. I have to

“Jules!” Kara’s voice whispered, drawing my attention while I was trying to read a radom book I’ve casually stumbled upon the other day around the house.“Yes...” I replied, not bothering to turn around in my bed so that I could face her.“I have an idea.” She whispered again, for no reason, I thought, since no one could hear her, besides the dog who was soundlessly sleeping on the floor anyway.“Why are you whispering? Are you afraid that Ghost will hear you and wake up?” I jokingly commented laughing then turned around to face her.“No...” She muttered, clearly annoyed, “Now, what was I saying? Oh, yeah... Come on, get up.” She spoke, then got up from her bed and strode towards mine.“Why?” I questioned, staring at her confused.“Come on, you’ll see.” She muttered, then grabbed my hand, pulling me up to my feet.I left the book on the bed and she started dragging me out of our room, walking silently on her tip-toes.“Where are we going?” I asked, while we were fastly walking down th

That was very weird. Why would he get us out of the room in order to explain that guy who we are?We were just a bunch of friggin’ maids after all.Unless he had something else in mind. Anyway, it was getting way too weird. They were all a bunch of weirdos. I’ve heard before that there were others living in the house, besides Marcus and Logan, but never actually seen them before that night. And I could tell that they were acting very weird. Why would someone be so interested in two ordinary employees? And the way they were looking at us, like we were dinner...Like they were like one of those vampires from my novels and we were human dinner.Wait, what if they really are?Gosh, Jules...don’t be so silly, there’s no such thing...I shook my head, chuckling, amused by my own childish thoughts. How could I think about that?I have to ease up on those fantasy novels.I turned off the shower and got out, drying myself up and putting on my pajama shorts and tank top, prepping to go to bed. It

Logan“She saw you? What do you mean she saw you?” Marcus’s voice boomed through the entire office, anger rising in his eyes.“Will you please lower your voice, I don’t want every single one in this house to find out about this,” I calmly pleaded.I really didn’t want anyone else besides Marcus to know about that, because I knew that if they would find out, they would kill her in an instant, considering her a threat to their existence.“Are you sure she saw you?” He then asked yet again, this time lowering his voice.“Yes, I am sure. She was right in front of me, “I calmly replied, remembering the paralyzing fear in her emerald eyes when she saw my wolf.“Then why didn’t you kill her? You know the drill, whoever sees us, doesn’t get a second chance to live,” He stared back at me, obviously confused.“I know...But I couldn’t. I can’t do it. I can’t kill her...I just can’t. Not even my wolf could do it...” I quietly muttered, lowering my gaze.I really couldn’t do it. The look in her e

LoganShe sat there and cried over and over again, until her body finally gave up, falling asleep right there on the floor, with her forehead pressed against the door.Seeing her like that made my heart twist in pain. She was afraid of me, of what I was. And she was right, that was what I was. That was what I really was to her. A monster. A cold-blooded monster...I took so many lives before and didn’t care about any single one of them, because all I really cared about was satisfying my primal urges.I thought that humans were just supposed to be our prey, nothing more. And yet, she managed to make me think otherwise, and all that just with a single look.A single look changed my entire way of thinking. The way she looked at me the first time we met made my heart melt. She looked so small and fragile, so helpless and yet, so beautiful...And now she was afraid of me...And I hated it. I didn’t want to be like that. Not anymore. I wanted to show her that I could be different, only for h

After he brought some of my clothes from my old room, I hurried to the bathroom and changed my clothes into a pair of denim shorts and a plain white tank top, still wondering what did he mean by work something out.Was he going to follow me everywhere I go around the house? Maybe. Maybe that’s what he meant. But still, I really didn’t friggin’ care, as long as I could get out of that suffocating room.I wasn’t going to try and run away either because I knew better. I was perfectly aware of what he was, and that he could’ve easily caught me. And besides that, I couldn’t just leave Kara behind, all alone with these freaks.I knew she was already crazy about Marcus and wouldn’t want to leave this place and leave him behind. And I also knew that if I would’ve tried to tell her about what I saw she will definitely laugh in my face and tell me I’m crazy. So, that left me no other choice than behave and hope I wouldn’t get hurt, or worse...killed...I got out of the bathroom and noticed he w

My palms touched the hard wooden door as I pushed it open, revealing Kara casually sitting on the couch, aimlessly gazing around and as soon as her eyes landed on me, she bolted straight towards me, pulling me in a big warm hug.Obviously, she missed me just as much as I did.I sighed in relief, burying my face in her shoulder, almost on the verge of crying, suddenly feeling extremely overwhelmed by pretty much everything that happened lately.“Oh my god, Jules...” She whimpered, hugging me even tighter, holding me close for a few moments before she slowly pulled back, worriedly looking at me.“What happened? Are you ok?” She softly asked, gently tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, her vivid green eyes roaming all over my face like searching for any type of injury.“Yeah...I’m fine...” I quietly answered, silently relishing in her familiar, soothing touch.“Apparently, I have to stay with Logan now...” I mumbled, obviously unsatisfied.“What? Why?”“He thinks that these people are
