VidaNew York City, Planet Earth"Uhm, hello? Earth to Vida?" Tessa waved her hand in front of Vida in an attempt to pull her back from reality.Vida looked up from the page she was reading and pulled her glasses that were slipping off of her nose. “Sorry, you were saying something?”Tessa let out a huff and dramatically sat down beside her best friend. “You never seem to listen to me! You always have your head behind that book.” She took the book from Vida’s hand and playfully kept it out of her reach.“Hey!” Vida giggled. “Stop it, Tessa. You’ll get my page messed up.”Tessa would not actually lose Vida’s progress in the book. She still sensibly kept her finger where Vida was reading and turned to take a look at the cover. “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief,” Tessa rolled her eyes. “Ugh, again? How many times have you read this book?”Vida looked up and actually thought about it. Fantasy books have always enthralled her. There is something about these stories that make her fall

CHAPTER 3: The Duel Between Them

ColterVikalyn, Kingdom of HowardColter was being watched. There was something about what his brother mentioned yesterday that dawned on him. "Colter, haven’t you learned by now that I always have eyes and ears on everything? The moment you stepped out of the palace doors, I already knew where you’re going."That bastard, he thought. Gian seems to get off on Colter's mishaps. Ever since he got back from the forest yesterday, Colter could not shake the feeling that unseen eyes seemed to follow him wherever he went.He was in the forest once again, but this time he was in Vikalyn, a lush, green forest located in the eastern part of the Kingdom. After accidentally running into The Queen in the gardens, he locked himself in his room and spent the night reading books about the unexplored areas in the Kingdom. He had made it a hobby to research on those uncharted regions and mark them on an old map he found in the Palace's grand library. Colter found it strange that his father, a stickler

CHAPTER 4: Havocc, The Underworld Kingdom

KING MALIKThe King's Study, Kingdom of HowardBack at the Palace, King Malik was still perplexed at what he had witnessed. How could Colter, who barely attended his training, beat Gian? Given that they have both used elemental powers to each of their advantage, Gian clearly was more experienced in combat. But the way Colter retaliated with precise blows and exceptional speed and form, left Gian in the dust. And what really left King Malik in awe was when Colter unleashed the power of Fotiá. It was as beautiful as he had imagined. As King Malik gazed through the window, he saw birds circling atop the treelines in the distance. He wondered what would have happened if he had not intervened. “Colter does not realize how powerful he can be." The King mused to himself. "If he only knew what his full potential was, he'd be the most powerful king Howard will ever have."His contemplation was cut short when a loud knock rang through the room."Enter," King Malik said. The tall double doors op

CHAPTER 5: Immediate Danger

GianGian's private quarters, Kingdom of Howard"What's on your mind?" The girl sitting in front of Gian asked. It was sometime around midnight and Gian was enjoying a nightcap with the alluring Duchess Eloisa. She was a girl descended from one of the minor royal families in the Kingdom and Gian's conquest for the night. It was an open secret that Gian had the eye for the Duchess. He would meet Eloisa out in public and they would go on horse rides and attend galas together. But they were not officially a couple. At least, not yet.Being in a committed relationship was not high on Gian's to-do list. Besides, Gian would not allow himself to be tied down to one, unless he was sure of his feelings for Eloisa."This and that," Gian said as he leaned back on the chair. They were both sitting by the fire in the large sitting room adjacent to private quarters.Eloisa gathered her hair to one side and leaned forward. "Care to share them with me?"Gian smiled warmly at her and replied. "Nothing

CHAPTER 6: Who Is That Girl I Saw In My Dream?

VidaNew York City, Planet EarthVida could not believe she forgot to bring her umbrella. She just finished her shift at Burn's and was currently waiting for the bus ride home. Unfortunately, Tessa was on her day off, so she had to go solo for tonight's shift. She didn't really mind since she was used to being alone. She also felt guilty that sometimes she just tunes out Tessa's ramblings like white noise. What she's saying is that, she will be alright since she had her book with her.Normally, it does not rain this hard in the city. They mostly experience scatters of rain showers or drizzle. So, to experience this much rain is a wonder to her.Vida fished her phone out of her pocket to check the time. It was 10:50 PM.She sighed. 10 minutes more of waiting. It was kind of funny how she clocks out the same time the bus arrives at this stop. She even tried to catch the 10:40 PM ride one time, but the bus had already left. It was super inconvenient for her and Tessa. They even asked Pet

CHAPTER 7: Just Let Me Go

VidaSomewhere in Downtown, New York City"Please! Let me go! I'll give you all my money, just let me go!" Vida cried."What makes you think I want your money?" the man roared.Vida's blood ran cold. Nope, this would not happen to me tonight or ever.Taking advantage of the slickness of the rain, Vida twisted her arm to loosen the clasp of the man's hand. She flailed her legs trying to reach the man's jewels in order to cause some amount of pain to enable her to run away. However, this man can easily take on her strength. Her efforts were like annoying flies to him, something he could swat away so effortlessly.Vida resorted to the one thing she found really gross but essential in this kind of situation: she took a bite out of the man's hand.Psycho-Dimples yelled in pain. His grip on Vida loosened and she took the chance to escape. But this man must be built with steel because he just shook off the bite and immediately caught Vida by the waist and sucker punched her.It knocked the w

CHAPTER 8: The Silence that Could Kill

ColterKingdom of Howard, UnknownWith a final glance at the sketch, Colter decided to wrap it up. Carefully rolling it up, he placed the piece of art inside an open chest and sealed it with a dull thud. He stared at the closed chest before shaking his head and turning away from it. The silence of the room was eerie, and he decided to get away from it before it drove him mad. “Look, if I were given a chance, I’ll be more than happy to see you.” A brief pause as he realized he was talking to himself, “Oh great. Now I’m talking to myself. That amber eyed brunette surely got me in a lull here.” The flickering thoughts of the girl flashed in his thoughts, which worsened his dour mood. With a sigh, he opened the door and stepped out of his room.“It’d be better if I can see her somewhere that isn’t in my dreams, but then that’d be quite a journey.” Colter muttered to himself as he closed the door behind him. “Who’s to say that she even exists, she might be a figment of my imagination.”

CHAPTER 9: Entering The Forbidden Portal

ColterForests of Howard, Kingdom of Howard Laughter spread throughout the trees; it was a boisterous, powerful laughter. Prince Colter Howard was traversing the forest once more. The adrenaline he feels, the way his blood races when he is trekking through the unknown brings a sense of thrill that he was almost addicted to. He jumped over trees, forced himself through undergrowth after undergrowth, his face was speckled with leaves and dirt. Exhaling loudly, he leapt from one tree into another, plucked an apple in one fluid motion then slid down the trunk and rested on a great tree’s roots. “The fruit here tastes the best.” The young prince muttered, wiping the apple on his clothes, and taking a giant chunk out of it with one bite. As he chewed on this little piece of heaven, his thoughts were suddenly invaded once more by that brown-haired woman in his dreams. Her beauty almost enthralled him, making him feel things he never felt before. His heart practically marked

CHAPTER 10: Curiosity Could Kill, Right?

ColterTraining Grounds, Kingdom of HowardThe sun was up, a new day is in progress, Colter was surrounded by a small mob of Ecanus, some younger than him, some were almost as old as him. It was due to him being one of the best Fotiá-ecanus types. He may come off as a lazy, irresponsible person but many of the citizens still looked up to him for his skills and even his devil may care kind of attitude. There were some who envied his prowess, as he was born with latent powers that made him easily control the flames and his other powers. “It may sound hard but look at this.” He said casually, he snapped his fingers and a flame lit itself up on the tip of his fingertips. The trainees around him gasped at how easily he can manipulate the energy within himself to conjure these flames. Another snap of his fingers and the flame disappeared, “It’s all about focusing your thoughts as you try to summon the flames.” The trainees gasped and laughed, wanting to learn as much from him.“Alright, a
