Chapter 41
I was frozen to the ground after hearing the news of Marie's death, my hands still covering my mouth."What did you just say?! What do you mean Marie's body was found?!" I heard Zayne shout from inside the school counselor's office."Mr Zayne Marshall, can you calm down please?" The male detective said, in a calm voice."Who killed her?! How--- Fucking hell!" Zayne sounded enraged."That is why we're here. And can you please mind your language?" The male detective said. There was silence again then Zayne asked, "What do you mean? Is the killer in this school?""Mr Zayne Marshall, you're not permitted to travel out of state until we conclude our investigations and you're cleared of being the prime suspect of these murder cases." The female detective announced. What?!The prime suspect?! What the hell were they talking about?!"Prime suspect?! So you suspect me of killing random people and dumping their bodies in the woods?! What the actual fuck?!" Zayne yelled, making me flinch."I sa

Zayne's POVI almost stabbed two detectives today at school with my claws, and I would have either killed or at least injured them.I am a Beta, so I still found it hard to control my wolf sometimes especially if my emotions are heightened. Like today at school, I was first shocked and terrified at the news of Marie's death and that asshole in the name of detective Grey just wouldn't stop triggering me. I was this close to completely losing it and my wolf almost came out and lunged at the detectives. And even after they left, I still could not control my emotions and my wolf was still threatening to come out until Dahlia came in, and her presence mysteriously calmed me. When she touched and comforted me, I instantly felt a satisfying sense of solace and peace. This was not the first time Dahlia's presence did something to me. It made me feel weak and strong at the same time. My wolf that was almost out was calmed and I just wanted to fall in her arms and cry out my heart. Losing some

Zayne's POV"What the hell?" Russell muttered beside me."What did you just say?" My father asked, his face bright red in fierce rage."Three people were found dead, killed by a werewolf. And all three were somehow related to me. Atlas was in the football team with me and we never got along, Martins was in my biology project team and...." I trailed off, still finding it hard to believe that Marie was actually dead. "And Marie, the owner of the coffee shop I regularly visited. And their deaths just happened at the time Garrett made that statement about how Alphas must be dreadful and all that bullshit and also at the same time, I didn't go for the pack ceremony, doesn't sound like a coincidence to me." "Are you accusing me of murder?" My father looked coldly into my eyes.I shrugged, knowing I was already getting to him."You seriously think I'd go after a bunch of high school kids like a bloody coward because Garrett said something?" My father asked again and I slowly raised my head

Dahlia's POVThe school was bustling with activities that morning because midterm exams were around the corner. It was in a week time, so students who slacked off from the beginning of the semester then suddenly woke up from their academic slumber and it was time for mid term exams.Students were running helter skelter trying to submit assignments and projects that they had ignored for weeks. My friends and I were exceptions though because we were the stereotypical nerds. Madison was a little different but she still never failed to do assignments and always studied ahead of time. But the mid term exams was not the only reason the atmosphere of the school was tensed, for me especially, another reason was that Zayne was suspended from school for three weeks.Apparently, he beat Mason Klein up so bad that he would require almost six weeks of recovery. Everybody was talking about it, every dick and harry who never liked Zayne but couldn't act on their feelings because they were scared of

Dahlia's POVI stared at Detective Grey, arching a brow wryly at him."Excuse me?""You should know a little more about Zayne, so is he usually this violent? When he rejected you, was he violent about it?" Detective Grey pressed on, not minding the obvious frown on my face."Zayne was not violent when he rejected me, he had his reasons, his valid reasons." I defended Zayne because it seemed the detective wanted to use that to pass a wrong narrative about him."He had his valid reasons to reject you or he had his valid reasons to be violent about it?" Detective Grey was determined to bring out something from me."I never said he was violent. I said he had his valid reasons to reject me!" I almost snapped at him, I was about to lose my temper on him."But he's usually violent, isn't he? His teammate who he beat up needs six weeks for recovery." I blew raspberry with my lips, "Zayne is not violent. I don't think I have the answers to your questions." I said to him and stood up, preparing

Chapter 47
I stood there in the park, the cold breeze blowing and slapping my skin harshly, as I listened to Oscar tell me that Mason approached me for a reason."I... Wh.... I--" I stuttered, stumbling over my words like a fool.Oscar looked at me with mock pity and clicked his tongue, "Oh poor you. You look a bit.... shocked. I guess I'll just leave you to process the information. Good luck Dahlia." He said and patted my shoulder, and on his way back to his car, I heard mutter under his breath, "Can't believe you really thought you found your prince charming."I don't know for how long I stood in the middle of the park, long after Oscar had drove off and left me alone. I was fixed to the ground, unmoving, still finding it difficult the process what Oscar just said to me.He could be telling lies though, it wasn't like Oscar was one hundred percent trustworthy but deep down inside me, in my head, I knew that he was most likely not lying because Oscar has no reason to lie to me about Mason. How

Surprised gasps, including mine, filled the cafe when I slapped Mason hard across his face. My palm already hit his face before I knew what I was doing. Mason placed his hand on his face, staring at me wide eyed in shock."Oh my god." I gasped shakily.Mason stood up, his tongue in his cheek, glaring coldly at me. I started to move backwards, already scared of what he would do to me. Though we were in public so I doubt he'd hit me, but I just hit him across his face, his sense of reasoning might not be functioning at the moment."You --" Mason was about to yell, and probably cuss at me, but I heard someone call out my name."Dahlia?" Still shaken, I slowly looked behind and found Zayne's friends, the twins, sitting at the table right behind Mason and I."Dahlia. What are you--" Jayson stopped when he spotted Mason in front of me, with a murderous gaze in his eyes.Immediately he stood up and his twin followed suit, they came forward and stood between Mason and I."I'm going to take

Zayne's POVThe atmosphere held a sense of tranquility as I inhaled the fresh air. Though the air reeked of grass and horse dung but it still gave me a sense of stability, away from all the ruckus and madness back at home. I definitely preferred it here. When the school authorities gave me a three week suspension, coach looked at me with a look that made my heart sink, he looked so angry and disappointed. I knew I had a bad temper and I didn't take shit from anyone but I had never engaged in physical violence like I did with Mason. Everything that happened was a blur, I just knew that I lost it completely and was seeing nothing but red while I was landing blows on Mason's face.I was angry with myself, I was angry with the entire world, I was angry with everything and everybody, I just had to get away. I couldn't take it anymore. Coach Peter will definitely bench me or I might even be kicked out of the football team after my suspension ends. I prepared myself mentally for anything com

Chapter 50
Zayne's POVMy heart rate increased rapidly and my skin became clammy, though the air conditioner was blowing air fine. My breathing became faster and shallow, with my head feeling light. I came down from the bed and started pacing around.Russell?Could Russell actually be the culprit behind those psychopathic killings? He killed Tracy, Archer, Matthew, Atlas, Martins and Marie? And even that day I got to my old house and found Mark's body on my porch.Could my cousin, one of the few good things in my life, really be the culprit intentionally killing people related to me, so I would be suspected? My legs lost strength and I had to sit back on the bed, beads of sweat already formed on my forehead.Suddenly feeling very thirsty, also feeling my wolf threatening come out, I hurriedly left the room and went to the living room. I opened the refrigerator, took out a bottle of water and gulped down the whole content at once."Boy, are you okay?" I heard Uncle Seb's voice from the dark.Wh
