41. MY PRINCIPESSA
It felt like it was the first time we would be sharing a room. The house was bubbling with chatter even as we all retired to our rooms. I felt guilty that I had not checked if Irya was good with her room but seeing Salvatore hold her hand so possessively as he walked her to her room had my heart skip so many beats. She seemed to be on her own cloud of happiness. Elio opened the door to his room which was dark and I was not surprised. It seemed younger Elio was good at expressing the darkness in him. Everything was elegant, luxurious, and black. The room seemed like the grim reaper’s tomb. There was little to no furniture and that which was present looked like something from a vampire’s lure. “Wait here, let me get something.” I quickly ran to my room. I grabbed what I needed and ran back to stop at the slightly opened door. “Where are you? Close your eyes!” I slowly pushed the door in to peak my head. Elio stood by the bed, busy with his phone while his back was to me. I bit my lo

42. WELCOME TO THE RICH LIFE
Elio did not have to try his tactics to wake me up. I had a dream of the day ahead and I couldn’t wait to live in it with my fiancé. The ring felt foreign on my finger, very heavy which I liked because there was not even a second where I forgot who I was and who I was engaged to. I couldn’t function without my music. I blustered it from my phone as we made the bed and tidied the room. I gave Elio a private show of my sick moves in the bathroom. He laughed all the way but I knew he liked my moves. Brushing my teeth while standing next to him was a dream. I couldn’t take my eyes off him. We hopped into the shower then Elio looked into my wound. He decided it was time to let it breathe so we did not replace the bandage. “Come on, we will be late, mamma will come get us herself.” “And who is to blame?” Elio questioned as I laughed out loud. “You always take the blame my love. Rule number one of marriage, the wife never does anything wrong.” I shot out as a matter of fact. He stared b

43. A DAY WITH HIM
My arm was doing the most. My whole body moved with the car, the corner felt deep to the bone as I swung with the car. I had coerced Elio to play music and, in my head, I was in a music video. I wanted to stand on my chair and throw my arms in the air but it was a fight because I also wanted to drive. “Turn left.” The navigator called, me doing just that with a frown on my face because we were in a parking lot and I had to park the car. If me and Elio had a fight, all he would have to do is let me drive his car. I was on a hundred, not able to climb off as we stepped out of the car. There were no guards, just him and I. He moved to lace our fingers then he tucked me under his wing, our hands hanging over my shoulder. I already knew where he was taking me and life couldn’t get any better. The boat was screaming old money and I guess Elio was old money rich. His family had been in the mafia business for decades and he just inherited it all with his brother. Even thinking about it was

44. SHOCKING REVELATIONS
“We will have the wedding at home, right? The estate is beautiful. It would be easier for everyone than them flying to the US. I like it here.” I said suddenly, changing the topic. “Mamma would be happy.” He said as I smiled out brightly. “I would like all our cultures to be represented too.” I added nervously. I did not know much about the culture from mother’s side but I wanted it represented too along with the Italian and American culture. Elio nodded his head in agreement and I was more than happy. “You don’t mind that your friend will be planning the wedding? I did not think to ask you about it. I am so used to just doing things on my own.” He paused. “I am sorry for not asking you.” He apologized so sweetly it had me grinning. “I am happy you picked her. I will get to spend more time with her and it will be so much fun planning the wedding with her and Mamma.” I grinned out but stopped. “Won’t she lose her internship though?” “She lost it,” “Because of me?” I stared in hor

45. COME BACK TO ME
The revelation of Elio’s departure drew us even closer. We were basically tied to each other from then. We had such an intimate lunch which was delicious. My eyes couldn’t leave Elio’s sight, feeding each other with such intense chemistry between us. I could feel it buzz like a currency. I thought it would spark into a fire with how intense it was. I was drowning in him and I did not know how I would survive the coming days. We basked on the deck, shades on, in each other’s arms as the waves crashed all around our boat. It was just nature singing to us as we drowned into each other. With so many emotions having run through me, I drifted off for an hour and woke up to Elio watching and running his fingers up and down my skin. Seeing that I was awake, he kissed me until I forgot my own name then picked me up, running through the deck to jump over the boat. I screamed so loudly, hitting the water hard before he dived back up with me still in his arms. We swam until our limbs screamed a

46. FINAL GOODBYE
The first thing that made me realize I had woken up was the warm hand gripping mine. It was the soft voice that quietly graced my ears. My brain kicked and I knew this morning was one that came with a tragic event. My eyes opened and closed, still no movement. “Forgive me my love, I will sin.” My breath caught on my throat while my heart ran a stampede. “Promises I have made to you will be broken and I will not even try to keep them. I will kill. I will kill all and I won’t even feel bad about it. Lord. Protect her for me. She is my world.” ‘Lord, please protect him instead, please father, protect him with all you have.’ I quickly prayed to contest in my mind, asking over and over. I held his hand tighter and I could not lay there anymore. I rose from the bed, the room dark with Elio knelt by the bed. I scooted over, him blending in with the darkness. It hurt even more, seeing that it was happening. I moved so fast over the sheets that tied even more around me. My arms wrapped arou

47. WEDDING PLANS
A soft knock came at the door. As much as I tried going back to sleep, I couldn’t. I just lay in bed knowing I had to get up to eat but I did not feel like it. I did not want to eat at all and I decided to fast for as long as I could until Elio came back. I could not just live life while he was out there going through who knows what. I would eat fruits only and pray for his return. I did not want company as bad as that sounded and as the door slightly opened dread fell on me. I just hoped it wasn’t Mamma. “Hi L. Are you awake?” A soft voice came and my eyes peeled open. The door closed, soft feet walking closer. “I came to check on you. Do you mind if I get in bed with you? We can cuddle and then eat ice cream later.” She tried and it was very appetizing but the problem was, I did not want anyone tainting Elio’s scent on the bed. I needed it embedded there for as long as it could. I turned around, pulling to sit up as she gave me a smile. I smiled back at her. “Hi. I was just abo

48. BROTHER
Elio Peace was all I felt. As I sat on the leather seat, staring ahead with my eyes looking yet not seeing, all I felt was enormous peace. It was not the same peace most felt. It was peace just before I turned the world upside down. It was the peace I felt every time before I went into a feast. It was the peace of knowing that when I was done with my work I wouldn’t be recognizable. The peace went along with deep hatred and anger. It was my best feelings all together, bringing me such refreshing calmness. In my head I could already see the blood that I would wear like a coat stitched together from my victims. It was going to be the biggest and bloodiest massacre since the Hamston takedown. The car door opened, air rushing in to greet and cool my boiling skin. I swung, not in control of my own body. It knew what it needed to do and I was high on what was about to happen, it taking charge. Not even the deafening noise from the jets pulled me from my peace. Not even the men running

49. BEASTLY FEAST

There was no time to do all the things I wished. I saved all the gore for their leader. Two weeks it had been and we were tying up loose ends. Word had spread about the war.
