I open the door to the outside to get some air and light."There is no record of Smith having cultivated the wolfbane but since we have the place confiscated and the roots dung out, he will get back at us."Monaco is right, the New Orleans pack have had their peace and never intruded in any shitty stuff. But it's about the people.I shut my door and we started to walk to the pack house.I'm fierce, Monaco is calm and present, and we're both a good pair. Most of the time he steps in to control my fits. I just wished he was not there that night, I wouldn't have wasted my time going to the cultivation."Loworth, feisty as ever, Smith can hide his scheme but not forever. His pack don't support him.""That fucking bastard doesn't care what they support." Emerson POV, Alpha Loworth reaches out and grabs the edge of my lounge chair. In one swift movement and with very minimal effort, he drags my chair closer to him until it bumps his. My whole body stiffens. He’s so close now, I can feel the warmth of his breath cutting through the cold air. If I were to look at him, his face would be mere inches from mine. I refuse to look at him because he would probably kiss me and I know absolutely nothing about this guy, other than a couple of naked truths– enough to twist my stomach. But that doesn’t weigh on my conscience at all when he rests a heavy hand on my stomach. “How far would you go, Emerson?” His voice is decadent, smooth. It travels straight to my toes. “I don’t know,” I whisper. His fingers begin to crawl toward the hem of my shirt. He begins to slowly inch it upward until a slither of my stomach is showing, my throat is dry, fisting my hand by my side yet I'm powerless. Desirable chills shoot through my back feeling the warmth fr

Loworth POV, "You and I are going to have a very long conversation, Loworth." His words hang in the air as he drops the bottle and shifts back resting his head behind his seat. The desire to hear what he has to say doesn't subside but lingers. An unwelcome companion of ghosts follows me."Smith thought he would leave some souvenirs his way." He says carelessly. Like all this is shit to him.My hand fist by my side, suppressing the feeling at that moment."Snitching up on me?""No, it's business, Loworth. Even Your worst enemy can be your best alliance when it comes to business, " Smith offered and I couldn't resist."I let out between gritted teeth. "So you're telling me, you're loyal to Smith now?"Initially, this suit had felt like my sanctuary. It served as my office the moment I entered it. It is a realm of calculated designs. With each tap on the seat. But today the space feels different, the room is thick with tension a cock tails of focus and anticipation with a tint of laxity

Loworth POV, It was already after seven before I could get home. Domenico called an hour ago and I could sense the willingness in his tone. The yard separation was a success, but he insisted Monaco stay at the hospital overnight to make sure there aren’t complications with his mate, he trusts me less but a snitch like him will have his tongue roasted by Smith if he finds out. He's Domenico, sledging his way. I walk in through the door to my quiet apartment. I change into my quiet pyjamas when I hear a sound coming from downstairs in a whisper. Emerson. She was talking to someone on the cell phone, her gaze darting around like some fucking owl. Wendy. It slipped through her mouth before she realized, I bet I was shocked when she asked the time then she lowered her voice telling the person on the call about her request earlier.I had been growing suspicious, way before she even led me inside to ask for her freedom to be going out. Digging up and making inquiries from Domenico about her

Emerson POV, I turn to face him, my face digging into his chest. His cologne wafts to me, so plush, dark and masculine. My knight in shining armour. I haven't seen him since yesterday, but his popping up made my heart flush. I stare at Smith, exuding a different form of confidence.A fleeting smile appears across his mouth and disappears just as quickly as if he remembered what happened, his lips turn up. "I'm sure there aren't many you'd risk this moment for, Emerson is catchy and I want her the more now that you have showed up, old friend."Loworth refuses to return his smile, he swats his hand away from me. "Don't you dare touch her?" He commands.“You look terrible," I say because he doesn’t look terrible. Loworth never does, and he knows it.Loworth heads for the counter lined with pastries, bottles of water, coffee carafe and small chops, perfect for a birthday. He grabs a water and squeezes it open then heads to his seat opposite from me.Smith disappeared into the crowd bef
