CHAPTER 21 Chance Encounter
Jason's POV I didn't appreciate being used as a lackey by my Father; we had omegas to do things like go into town to get supplies. They loved ensuring our pack was well catered for and enjoyed tasks like shopping. I knew, however, that my father was angry at me for my outburst at the town meeting, and if I planned to get back in his good books, I had to suck it up and do this job. Standing at the bar now, waiting for the bartender to come over, I couldn't help but thank the moon goddess for how things had turned out.   Archer had been grumbling since we saw Damien outside that dump yesterday; you'd think knowing where she was would bring a blanket of peace to him, but it seemed to agitate him further - replaying and analysing everything that had happened. He remained adamant that ripping the arms off the self-righteous prick she was with was the right thing to do! And given his disrespect last night, I was inclined to agree with him! Turning my back to the bar, I leaned against

CHAPTER 22 Good Girl
Jason's POV "I don't think there would be room in the bath for all five of us, Pumpkin," I admitted gently to Lizzy, an innocent smile spreading across my face. I watched confusion seep across both girls' faces, Lizzy counting on her finger. "Five?" "You, Abigail, me, Damien and HIS ego." I winked with a smirk. Abigail's chuckle told me she was not offended but amused. Lizzy, I knew would have questions. "What's an ego?" She asked, genuinely confused. "Why don't you ask Damien!" I winked. Luckily, I was saved from answering further by the waitress who came to take our orders. Settling on a mixed grill and a beer, I waited for Abigail to order Lizzy's pizza. Asking the waitress to make sure it didn't have fish on it with a playful wink to Lizzy. Turning my attention back to my lunch companions, I winked at Abbi playfully, seeing her cheeks slowly return to normal as she looked through the menu quickly, obviously sensing the waitress getting annoyed at her taking her time a

CHAPTER 23 The Green-eyed Beast!
Damien's POV The urge to make Red mine unsettled me endlessly; I had only just met her, nevertheless, I knew with every fibre of my being that I wanted her! I had never felt this way about anyone, yet this angel of light and dark had brought out emotions and desires that felt incredibly foreign and utterly out of character. I was used to being alone and cherished the solitude that my work afforded me. Until now, I had never minded it, enjoyed it, even! But the idea of her up and leaving this town now that I had caught sight of her, heard her sweet laugh and inhaled her beautifully unique scent was driving me insane. I couldn't understand it; how could someone I had just met have such an effect on me? I felt like I had known her my whole life, not just the last 72 hours. Not having a partner meant I had no one to run things by, no one to explain myself to or consider… besides my family. I am unsure if that's what I want from Red, for her to be someone I rely on and trust. But I do

CHAPTER 24 Can She Hear Us?
Jason's POV It wasn't long before we done eating; I had learnt a lot in the time it took for us to finish our food, and I didn't want the afternoon to end just yet; Archer and I wanted to know everything about Abbi and leave no stone unturned, but we knew that was impossible in one day. Thinking on my feet as I paid the bill thanking the staff, I held the door open for Abbi, following her out with Lizzy on my shoulders; thankfully, she had forgotten about meeting my 'furry friend'.   "Do you know the town well?" I asked, tickling Lizzy's feet as she played with my hair.   "I arrived a few days ago, and honestly, I would still be on the bench by the water fountain or in Alice's house of torture if it wasn't for Damien." She answered, pulling her hair up into a bun; the second she stepped outside, the heat unquestionably getting to her, given her flushed skin. I walked behind her, distracting myself from the mention of her male friend by admiring the slender creamy flesh of her nec

CHAPTER 25 Just a Dream
Abigail's POV I don't know what possessed me to invade Jason's mind and privacy; seeing the jealous look on his face when Lizzy mentioned Damien had surprised me. I had heard that Wolves were territorial, and my curiosity got the better of me. I wanted to know what was going on in his mind, what his wolf had to say, so I had pushed past his barriers; I was surprised at how easy it was to stay hidden in the depths of his mind. Listening to Jason and his wolf, who I knew to be called Archer, bicker like an old married couple. I may have kept hidden inside his mind, but obviously, my face had given me away on the outside because the last thing I expected was for Jason to cotton onto me and 'test' it! Seeing those erotic images of Jason and me stream through his mind caught me off guard, to say the least. Especially given his behaviour towards me yesterday- This was a completely unexpected turn of events, and honestly, I wasn't sure how I felt about it. I wasn't ashamed to admit I wa

CHAPTER 26 Trust is Earned!
Damien's POV With her heavenly scent committed to memory, It didn't take long to track them down to some dive in the centre of town, from where I stood, spying on them. One of the perks of having demon blood run through my veins was that I was gifted with powers and abilities most could only hope to have. Matter manipulation, teleportation, telepathy and my favourite that I was incredibly grateful for now as I stood watching Red: Invisibility.   I didn't know enough about my ruby gem and her abilities. Would she be able to sense me? See through my cloak of invisibility? Not wanting to take the risk and alarm her, I kept a safe distance and watched from the other side of the street, cursing each car that whizzed by, blocking my vision momentarily. I didn't want to miss a thing. I needed to know what this mongerals' intentions towards Red were!   I didn't trust him after his outburst yesterday. His wolf had undoubtedly tried to claim she was 'his mate' If that was true, then this l

CHAPTER 27 Hidden Desires
Abigail's POV We walked through the town for the rest of the afternoon; Jason, true to his word, had taken us to the best pet shop in town. While Lizzy and I looked for the perfect tank, I found myself glancing back at Jason, who was on the phone, clearly to someone important. My stomach dropped at the thought of him having to leave. Today had been such a fun day, and I had enjoyed getting to know him and his wolf, even if it was a little more intimately than I had planned. Although I watched Lizzy carefully, I could not pull my eyes away from Jason; his eyes caught mine, our green jewels locked on each other's, neither of us breaking contact; I smiled, knowing that the dark glimmer behind his eyes meant Archer was watching me too. Knowing that a wolf was watching me like a predator stalking its prey should leave me feeling uneasy, but it didn't; I don't recall ever feeling as safe as I did right now. Instinctively I knew this man and his wolf would protect me with their lives; I

CHAPTER 28 She Hates Us
Jason's POV The adrenaline that soared through my body when I was close to this creature gave me a natural high unrivalled by anything else I had experienced. Hunting in wolf form, a successful training session even the countless other liaisons I had had over the years didn't match the thrill I got from making those ivory cheeks burn. I wasn't lying, though. I could smell her body responding to me, something had changed since we entered the store, and I planned to make the most of the situation. This creature was addictive, and I had no plans of missing out on this opportunity to get close to her.   Caging her between the till and my body, those beautiful eyes staring up at me, shocked at my teasing and forwardness. She had been stripped of all bravado and left raw, her innocence and inexperience as clear as the nose on her face. Which only fuelled the fire within me. Without removing my eyes from her deep hues, I reached into my pocket for my card, placing my hand on her hip and

CHAPTER 29 Natural Urges
Abigail's POV Hearing my name roll off his lips with such authority made my stomach flip unexpectedly. I knew I was close to being putty in his hands, but he ruined it, letting his arrogance get the better of him. Stubborn had always been a word used to describe me, so it was no surprise that I dug my heels in and pushed his buttons, wanting to provoke him. Hearing the irritated tone in his voice, I made a mental note that he was easy to wind up, something I would have to consider when teasing him. What I had not banked on was him turning the tables on me, feeling his hand brush against my hip ever so gently; even such a feather-light touch sent electric sparks through my body, causing me to tremble with anticipation. Unable to control the purr that slipped from my lips at his closeness and touch. Wanting to kick myself for how my body reacts around him. Was it time I bit the bullet and gave in to my natural urges? Perhaps then my body would behave and stop betraying me. I don'

CHAPTER 30 Miss Popular
Jason's POV "Wanna bet!" Archer's low growl filtered through my head; I could sense through our bond how much he liked her; he liked her feistiness, her sass and her stubborn streak! "You know why!" He answered flatly, aware she might still be listening and not wanting to scare her. She wasn't one of us; she wasn't a wolf, she didn't understand our ways. I thought silently, deciding not to answer.   "Not yet!" Archer added. I could hear the excitement in his voice. Which had me a little nervous; he never usually took this much notice when it came to females, so why now? "We can't let her stay here!" He added, his mood changing dramatically, watching the inebriated fool roll around the floor dramatically, pulling his knee to his waist and wailing like a child.   "Oh my god, humans are pathetic", Archer snickered. I closed my eyes and heard Ab's sharp inhale, opening them slowly to see her spinning around a face like thunder. "Buddy, will you try to behave, She. Can. Hear. Yo
