Chapter 21

IMEELAMy body shivered in anticipation when Jackson slipped my panties off, leaving me completely naked. He sat back on his heels and looked over every inch of me as he was savoring each one. He always made me feel desirable when he looked like he wanted to devour me.Jackson’s hands my sides, leaving goosebumps in their wake. Need flooded through me, and I felt like I would burst into flames at any moment. He leaned down and brushed his lips over mine in a featherlight kiss. Such a tease! Then he got up to rip his shirt over his head and undid his jeans, slowly pushing them and his boxers down.My mate stood before me in all of his glory, and what glory it was indeed. His body was perfect. I could not choose which was my favorite feature between the piercing emerald eyes, his mouth that could show me both love and ecstasy, the body that looked like it was chiseled from stone, or his rock-hard cock that was standing at full attention and already had some pre-cum.I crooked my finger a

Chapter 22

IMEELAThe city was only about an hour away from the pack. I hated the idea of going to the city, but I had no choice because of a crazy bitch. All I could hope for was that tonight would work in our favor.“You ready for this, love?” he asked me as he pulled into the parking lot. “Not really, but it’s necessary. I’m not as weak as I was when I was running for my life. Plus, I have you with me. You and Zeus are all that I need.”He turned the car off and faced me, hands cupping my cheeks. I sighed at the sparks that reminded me of the bond between us. When I was very young, I used to imagine finding a beloved and what my life would be like with them. Nothing compared to what I had with my mates.“You weren’t weak at all. You were so fucking strong to have survived what you did. Now, you get to make him your bitch,” Jackson said, waggling his eyebrows.I had not thought about it like that. I was finally the hunter, and I would catch him.A chuckle broke free, and I grinned at him. This

Chapter 23

JACKSON We had to stop outside of the border to add his blood. I had to admit that Ziyah’s borders were fucking phenomenal. Brynn was waiting for us when we got back to the cells. She led us to a cell that she had retrofitted to ‘secure a whiny bitch’ as she lovingly put it. Imeela restrained him with her aura again so that I could get him secured. Brynn said that the chains were reinforced against vamp strength and had runes etched into them, making it impossible for him to move unless given permission by Imeela. The fucker paled when he heard that part. His predicament of being absolutely fucked was the only thing that was holding me back from destroying him for what he had done to my girl and what he had said in that alleyway. He would pay in time for each sin against her. For every dirty thought and every foul word. “We’ll be right back,” I told Brynn. Dustin was here as well, so I did not feel bad about leaving Brynn. Plus, she would have been completely capable of destroyin

Chapter 24

JACKSON “Let me tell you something. A powerful Fae made the serum we gave you as well as the cuffs that are on you. You’re entirely cloaked. Nobody will ever find you here, and no vampire can enter that has not been given express permission. You’re at our mercy. I’ll gladly draw nearly every drop of blood from you before letting you heal. Then I’ll do it all over again. Where is home, and who promised me to you?” His eyes looked around at us all, trying to gauge if she was being serious. The blank stares refused to give him an answer one way or another. Let him keep guessing for the entire time that we had him here. Imeela had learned to survive on barely any blood or food. Her body became accustomed to that. We would be starving him while he was in our custody. Imeela had told me that starvation was excruciating for a vampire, so it sounded like a good punishment for all of the fuckery that he had put her through. “Have you already forgotten where you come from? That’s a pity. Alt

Chapter 25

IMEELAJackson had fallen asleep a little while ago, but I could not shut my brain off for the life of me.Dexter had never been a small random vampiric fish. Nope. He was the one who helped them get inside the palace and even gathered up my siblings for the slaughter. God, he had a direct hand in ruining everything that my family had built.I had been caught off-guard with Jackson’s words about not only helping get justice for my family but also being beside me if I ever wanted to restore the Precoza coven. I had felt every ounce of his sincerity, and it left me in awe. Here was this amazing man who was willing to give up being part of his pack and being with his family just so that I could take up my birthright and bring my kind back to where it needed to be.I did not want to be Queen if I was being honest with myself. However, that did not change the fact that it was the only way for me to ensure that Andrei Moretti’s reign no longer continued. Had I not heard the name, I never wou

Chapter 26

JACKSON I had nervously asked Imeela to go on a date with me tonight because it would be a first for both of us, and I wanted it to be perfect for her. She said yes, so I told her that Brynn would love to help her get ready. If she wanted her to then just link her but to be ready by 7:00 P.M. There was not a Middle Eastern restaurant in this pack, but Brynn had great connections. She arranged for a private chef to come in. That cuisine was Chef Fatima Ebrahimi’s specialty. There was a beautiful garden area that was set up for private dining experiences that was rented out for occasions such as this. The owners would take care of the decorations and getting everything ready. I opened the jewelry box one last time to make sure that the charm bracelet had not disappeared. Yes, it was obsessive, but I did not care one damn bit because this was an important gift for Imeela. It was my first gift to her but also a promise as well. I just hoped that she liked it. My finger ran over the ros

Chapter 27

IMEELA Our date night had been absolutely perfect. It showed how thoughtful and romantic Jackson was. We thoroughly enjoyed the Middle Eastern food. It was so delicious. I had not eaten that cuisine since I was a child. It definitely did not disappoint. Another special part of the night was when gave me the bracelet. It was gorgeous and would end up telling our story together. I could not wait to see what other charms we would add to it over the years. I even taught him the meaning of some Arabic words. Habibi meant ‘my love’ and was used that way when speaking to males. Marhaban meant ‘welcome’, which was responded to ‘Marhaban biki’ when speaking to a female. ‘Shukran’ meant thanks. Replying ‘afwan’ meant you are welcome. Each word practice made me smile because he was learning for me. He did not have roots in that, but I did. Therefore, he wanted to learn so that he could share in this part of my life and understand my heritage. “I had an incredible time, habibi. It was a perf

Chapter 28

IMEELAToday was a big day for first impressions. I was going to a brand-new place as Jackson’s mate. These people knew him and were important to him. Therefore, I wanted to appear as a confident mate even if that was not what I felt like right now.“You look positively beautiful, love,” Jackson whispered into the shell of my ear.My body relaxed underneath his influence. The muscles that had been coiled tightly were slowly releasing their vice grip.“Thank you, habibi.” I smiled at him, leaning against his side while we walked to the conference room.He stopped us while the others continued walking. He turned us so that the wall was against my back. The love in his eyes melted me until I felt like a pile of goo.‘I want you to know that every single person that’ll be in that room is trustworthy with any information that they hear. It’s a group where our secrets can be laid bare without fear of betrayal,’ he shared with me.I let out a measured breath, feeling so much better. I had not

Chapter 29

JACKSONImeela and I were working on hand-to-hand maneuvers with training this morning. She started off at my speed and slowly increased it so that my reflexes would learn to react faster. Was I getting my ass handed to me? Yes.Were there bruises forming? Also, yes.Was I going to give up? FUCK NO.Brynn was an amazing opponent to fight against because she had an innate ability to observe, move, and countermove. It was just like how chess pros could visualize like ten moves ahead. I knew that Imeela would be able to get me as close to that point as I could be. If I could hold my own against her, then I would be able to hold my own against others. There was clapping when we ended our session. Dante stood beside Ziyah, arms crossed over his chest, and was smirking at me. I did not miss the way his eyes tallied my multiple bruises.“I have to say that I’m impressed because you kept up with her moves better than most could. She’ll have you at assassin level in no time. We were actually ho

Chapter 30

IMEELA ‘Being a leader is about more than the title. It is about seeing the silent struggles of your people and finding a way to lift some of their burdens. It is about what you are willing to sacrifice for their safety and prosperity. It is also about the lengths at which you would go in order to protect them.’ Those were words that my mother had once spoken to me when I was afraid of being Queen one day. My mother had been adamant that I would be the ruler instead of my siblings who had more of a claim to the throne than I did. She never explained why she felt that way, but she told me that I had to keep it to myself. All would be revealed in time, and I supposed that it had been. My mind was still reeling with what we learned from Dante and Ziyah yesterday. First of all, I was incredibly happy for Byron. He would be able to experience new things every full moon like holding his children on his own and playing with them. He would also be able to be with Ziyah in her natural form
