SCARLETT. I opened my eyes and he was gone. I looked around expecting to see a belonging of his but it wasn't in the room either. Did he leave me without fulfilling his promise? No. He wouldn't do that to me. I quickly put on my dress and rushed out of the hotel. Then I hailed a cab which took me to the hospital. My mom was in this hospital and she was sick with cancer. Khan had promised to heal her if I slept with him. Yes, I lost my first time to a vampire because I wanted him to heal my mother with his blood. I dashed into the room and saw my mother sitting up on the bed and eating cereal. My eyes watered seeing her sit for the first time in two months. She had been in pain and wasn't able to eat through her mouth. It was such a relief seeing her like this. “Mom,” I called and rushed to her. Once she sighted me, she smiled. And then she held my hand before pulling me toward herself. I buried my head in her chest and she gently lowered her head. “Why did you make a deal wit

KHAN. “The agency sent an email.” Scott's voice pierced my ears. I was in the car, planning my next target. The blood running in the neck of humans was tasty, especially the easy ones. The ones that feared death. The ones whose eyes were as bright as a rainbow. Who had the most beautiful family and life? Those ones who did not want to die because they were enjoying life more than the others. Yes, those were my target. “I need more information,” I said, stopping in the school cafeteria. I was at the city college, there I would find some sophomores. Girls with blue eyes and perfect skin. Sweet and gentle, popular amongst their peers. Worshiped by the mere student. The ones that enjoy the bliss of life. “Its a mother and daughter,” he answered. I paused. “Perfect.” And then I found her. She was exactly what I wanted. I stopped and watched her walk like a supermodel. She carried a designer bag, and her minions walked behind her as if they were being photographed. “Emmie, you look bea

SCARLETT. “You rejected him even after all the things he did for you. You have little qualifications as a nurse yet he told his parents to promote you every year. And what about me, he had helped me a lot. Did you forget what he did for Clara?” Bianca yelled in my ears. She was the one driving since I didn't bring my car today. Liam had proposed to me and I rejected him. I told him I wasn't ready, it wasn't a lie though. However, I couldn't bring myself to say yes to him. I had never imagined being his wife and doing all of the wife duties, it wasn't something I was prepared for. “Do you need to go to a culinary school? A school where they teach women how to be wives or something? You have such a great opportunity and you are tossing it off - boom - out the window and never coming back!” Bianca did an exploding sign, being all dramatic. I looked away, watching the bushes that were around this city. I saw why it was easy for the night crawlers to eat humans. It wasn't common tho

MANYON CITY....KHAN. “You should visit your mom now that you are in the city,” Scott uttered while I placed my gun on the window for the execution of my targets. Anytime soon, my target should be walking along with her kid. I usually used guns against my target, I did not like the blood of victims. Their taste would linger on my tongue giving me some memories of them. In the same way, I did not like to research my target, Scott did them and I killed them. I paused and then looked at Scott. “If you fucking make me miss my target, I would present your rotten and shitty dead body to the agency instead. Those motherfucker wanted you dead anyway.” I smirked and he surrendered, raising his hand in the air and looking away. Bianca, a twenty-five-year-old nurse. I wondered what she did to the agency that made them want her dead. Not kidnapped or drugged or swindled or framed but fucking dead with her daughter. I poured a ton of dark gum into my mouth before tossing the empty packet out t

SCARLETT. After my afternoon shift, I went home to get dressed for the meeting with Liam. By the time I got home, Bianca was getting ready for the night shift. “How was the parents meeting?” I asked while searching for something to wear in my closet. “It was good but...” She trailed off and then turned to me. “Do you notice anything strange about Clara lately?” She asked. I stopped and turned to her. “What?” I asked. “Did her teachers say anything?” I added. Bianca shrugged. “No, nothing you should be worried about,” Bianca answered, getting ready for work. “I am going to meet Liam, we are going to talk.” I sighed. “Are you going to break up? I heard Liam has sickle cell, do you think breaking his heart would affect his health?” Bianca asked, looking at me. This was one of the reasons I accepted Liam in my life. He was as fragile as an egg, I didn't want to hurt him. I didn't answer Bianca, rather I looked in my closet for something to wear. Soon, I was done and I arrive

KHAN. “Goodness, I can't believe you killed him!” Scott paced the living room while I tried to sleep. However, I could help but recollect how fantastic his blood tasted. What was his name again? James. Yeah, James. I drained every single blood in his body, and I left no room for a spill. I had always eaten clean. “The agency is gonna be mad and guess who they are going to blame?” He stopped and looked at me. “You of course, who else could they blame? Me?” I glanced at him and then he scoffed. “Have you gotten everything I need on the little girl?” I asked. I needed to know why she stopped me from doing my work. What was special about her? “Anyway, remember that girl from five years ago? Scarlett, the one whom you killed her mother.” He threw a document in front of me and I quickly took it. It was the first time I was going through a file on someone, Scott mostly told me what I needed to know. “She has a child. However, I would have thought that you owned the baby since you sexe

SCARLETT. The letter was from Khan. Khan sent me this stupid letter through my daughter. He knows where I am. He knows where we are. My heart banged loudly in my chest, it felt like it was going to burst open and announce to me that the demon was here. I dropped the letter, my hand was shaky hence it dropped with the flower. Then I grabbed Clara. “Go and pack your bags, pack everything. We are leaving.” I half yelled and pushed her toward the door before going to my closet. He would get me and kill me. Khan was a monster, he didn't care about anyone. He killed whenever he wished just the way he killed my mother. I grabbed a box and started to pack my clothes. I did this randomly, my entire body was throbbing and my head was steaming, I didn't have time to select clothes. The next moment, I heard Clara come into my room. “Have you packed your bags? Don't worry, I will find a better school. Kiara and Bianca would be fine without us.” My voice trembled. I would explain to Bianca o

SCARLETT. I walked in front, and he walked behind me. I hated that he could view my ass. “Maybe because you are insecure about your flat ass.” My subconscious screamed at me and I almost yanked her out and threw her in a bush. I had always hated my flat ass but that was not the point. I hated that Khan could look at my body the way he wanted. “Where is your car?” I squeaked, stopping to look around the garage. And just then a car moved past me swiftly, which made the water from last night's rain spatter. However, before I could dodge, Khan had stood in front of me, preventing the water from touching me. My eyes went wide when the huge man stood in front of me. He was bigger and taller than me, it was easier for him to be my shield. For a moment, I paused, a gasp falling from my mouth. I didn't expect him to stay in front of me like this. “What is this?” I raised my head and met his eyes. They were the same green, cruel, and dark eyes. They had nothing in them. There was no iota

SCARLETT. Khan returned me to the hospital and I got out of his car. I was too perplexed to speak to him. What he said to me was way too shocking for me to comprehend. I almost got into my locker room when Mirabel walked toward me with a frown on her face. She was Liam’s mom. I was sure he had told her about the breakup. I dropped my gaze, looking at the white marble floor. “You know what you did right?” She asked. I did not give a response. “I suggested that we fire you but he insisted that he wants you to stay here. Liam really cares about you, you must be stupid to have let him go. He would do anything for you.” She shook her head before walking away, exuding disappointment. I closed my eyes and sighed. How am I supposed to explain to her that I did this because of him? I broke up because he was a good guy and he deserved better. My heart was in a mess. I got in the shower room and bathed before leaving work. When I got home, Paula was taking care of the kids. Clara was

KHAN.“I told you to watch over her, not fuck her.” I groaned after listening to Scott’s story. The bastard fucked Bianca in his car. “She wanted it and she was damn sexy. She is going to die anyway.” He rolled his eyes, taking his tab off the center table. “You had sex with her in the fucking car, the one you drive me with? Fuck you, Scott!” I groaned. He laughed, touching his tablet. “Your deadline is tomorrow, Khan. You have to kill Bianca, the agency has been on my neck.” He sighed. “What did she do?” I asked, looking into space. Scott looked at me very quickly. “How? You have never asked about prey. Never!” he said. He was right, I had never been interested in what the victim did. This time I needed to know. She was Scarlett’s best friend. “They never stated it. All I know is it's an important task and this is the reason they gave it to you. But isn't it strange that they want her and her daughter dead? Anyway, you are getting rid of them tomorrow right?” He asked, looking
