CHAPTER 31

NOAH POV Jax got back to the hotel after his first day at playing guidance officer at Ava’s school and he actually looked pretty damn tired. “How did it go?” I asked, as he grabbed a beer from the fridge. “You know, being a guidance officer means they send all of the troubled kids to me so I can talk to them. That wasn’t part of the deal.” Jax complained. “Yeah. I know. But it was the closest way we could get to Ava.” I said. “I know that. But it still sucked. I had to listen to kids’ problems all day and most of it was bullshit. One girl came in with a problem that her mother wouldn’t let her wear mini skirts to school.” Jax said. “Let me guess. Was that Stella?” I asked. “How did you know that?” Jax asked as he sat on the couch. “Because I’ve been doing my own research on the kids at that school. Stella seems to be the only pain in the ass that Ava has had. Her and her friends.” I said. “Yeah, well. She didn’t mention Ava but if that’s the girl that she beat up, I d

CHAPTER 32

I stood there staring at Elias on the other side of the door, glaring at him. Trying to control the growl that was about to rise up in my chest. “Oh please. Don’t start this again. Your mother told me to come here and try to make peace with you.” Elias said. “Since when do you listen to anything mom has to say? You tossed her aside the second she gave you an heir.” I said. “Yeah. But you’re not exactly the heir that I would have wanted. You always took her side and now you’re saying that you don’t want to take over the pack.” Elias said. “What the hell are you doing here?” I asked. And he pushed past me and came into the hotel room. He saw Mason and Jax standing off to the side and he looked around at where we had been living. “Well that doesn’t surprise me. I don’t recall giving you two permission to leave the pack.” Elias said. “I gave them permission. As the future Alpha.” I said, still standing behind him and still holding the door open. “What are you doing here Noah

CHAPTER 33

AVA POV The next day I went to meet Noah for lunch at a restaurant and he was already there waiting for me when I arrived. “Hi Ava. You look really nice today.” Noah said, standing up from the table when I arrived. “Thank you.” I said. He even pulled the chair out for me as I sat down. “I hope I’m not interfering too much with your busy schedule.” He said. “No. It’s fine. I’m just heading to dad’s office after this.” I said. “Oh yeah. How is all the Alpha training going?” “Well, at the moment he only has been familiarizing myself with the pack. Going through their files and all that crap. It’s pretty boring. Well, it was until late last night.” I said. “Why? What happened late last night?” I asked, curiously. “We were informed that a couple of people had gone missing. It’s a complete mystery. A young couple. They went out on a date but never came home.” I explained. “That is strange. What do you think it could mean?” He asked. “Who the hell knows? Maybe something

CHAPTER 34

When I got to school the next day Wesley was still concerned about me. I wasn’t being as talkative as usual as we walked to my locker first. But he wasn’t trying to bring it up. “Oh look. It’s the happy couple.” Someone said, walking past us. And I didn’t even put my head up to look at who said it. “Alright. Now I know that something is really wrong with you.” Wesley said. “Why would dad invite that bastard to dinner? Why would they be friends now?” I asked. “Because that was a long time ago and they have obviously put it behind them.” He said. And I turned to look at him, so my face wasn’t buried in my locker anymore. “How could you put something like that behind you? He lost his daughter that night.” I said. “I know. But a lot can happen between then and now.” He said. “None of it makes sense.” I said. I closed my locker and we started walking towards Wesley’s locker when we saw Skylar, Sarah and Stella walking towards us. “I thought you would have been expelled by

CHAPTER 35

As soon as I got to the office my dad was sitting at his desk and this time he didn’t have anyone else in there with him. I was surprised by that. “Where are the warriors who are looking for mom?” I asked as I sat down. “They checked in this morning. They don’t have any new leads. I think I might have to call them back in.” Dad said. “You’re giving up.” I said. “They can’t just keep looking aimlessly. I mean, this is a really big country to search. We need to find more concrete evidence.” Dad said. “Maybe I should go out there and look. I would probably have better luck.” I said. “Absolutely not. Not when we know that there are hunters out there. They will do anything to get their hands on an Alpha’s daughter.” He said. So I turned the computer on and I grabbed some files but instead of doing what I was meant to, I got on the dark web again. I put that photo of my mother tied to the chair on there with the caption ‘if anyone notices this location please let me know’.

CHAPTER 36

#####TRIGGER WARNING:TORTURE SCENE####My head was pounding and I looked around to see steam coming from the front of the car. The windshield was smashed and I was having trouble seeing as I was regaining consciousness. I looked around at where we were but there were no people around at all. I thought that was a little strange, but then I managed to open the door and saw that it was an industrial area. It was really dark with the exception of a few street lights scattered around and I got out of the car. I stumbled forward to the driver’s seat and I saw that Miles was unconscious. I tried to open his door, but it was stuck where it was. I needed a little more strength, but before I had a chance to do that someone grabbed me from behind. “What the fuck.” I yelled as I started fighting against the person that had his arms around me. My vision was blurred by the blood coming down my face from my forehead, but I saw several other figures coming out of the dark wearing dark clothing a

CHAPTER 37

When I got home it was after dawn and my father was in the living room looking very disheveled and very worried and anxious about something. Sandra was also in the living room, sitting on the couch looking bored and like she was about to go to sleep. “Ava.” Dad yelled running over to me and hugging me. “Wow. I didn’t think you’d miss me this much.” I said. “Of course I would. Look at you. Are you okay?” He asked, looking me up and down because I was covered in blood. “I’ll be fine. The injuries are healed. I had to take the long way home because I didn’t know if there were any other hunters out there.” I said. “That was smart. I wish you had called.” “I couldn’t risk it. In case they heard me. I tried to mind link you, but I couldn’t get through.” I said. “I know. I’m so sorry. There were a string of kidnappings last night.” He said. “How’s Miles?” I asked. “He’s going to be fine. It was just a bad accident, but he’ll be out of the hospital today.” He said. I guess

CHAPTER 38

The following morning when I got out of bed I went for my usual jog around the pack with three guards following behind me. Which I knew I had to get used to because dad wasn’t going to call them off. When I got back to the house I had a shower and I got dressed. I sat on the bed and I texted Wesley not to come and pick me up today. I have to stay home and help dad figure out who took the kidnapped victims.I went downstairs for breakfast, like I always did. But I didn’t eat much this morning. Sandra wasn’t there, because apparently she was asleep and Leo was scoffing down his food like he had some place important to be. When I finally left the house I made sure that the guards weren’t following me because they all believed that I was being picked up by Wesley. But I wasn’t that lucky. I needed to find another way to get around them. So I went up to my room, pretending like I had forgotten something and while they were waiting outside my bedroom door, I opened the window and I cli

CHAPTER 39

It wasn’t long before someone knocked on the door so I got up and walked over to the door and opened it. “Ava. We need to talk.” Noah said. “No. Like I said, you need to go to hell.” I said. “You found out that Jax is my friend.” “Yeah. You planted him in my school to keep an eye on me.” I said. “It’s not what you think.” He said. “I don’t know what the hell to think anymore. Or who to trust.” I said. So Noah pushed the door open and he walked into my room and closed the door behind me. He turned to look at me with such intensity in his eyes. “You can trust me. I put Jax there so that he could protect you when I wasn’t there.” Noah said. “And again, why should I believe you?” I asked. “Because of this.” He said, grabbing my hand. I quickly pulled my hand back after getting the electric shock that coursed up my arm. “What the fuck?” I asked. “After we started writing to each other, I knew that there was something different about you. The first few letters were hand wr

CHAPTER 40

As soon as I had heard enough from Wesley and his parents, I left their house and I started walking around the city aimlessly. I didn’t know where I was going or what I was doing. Not until I realized that I was standing outside the hotel that Noah was staying in. I stood there staring at the building. Still not moving. Like I was in shock. “Ava.” Someone said, walking up beside me. I turned my head and Jax was there. “Hello counselor.” I said. “Noah already messaged me and told me that you know the truth. Are you alright?” He asked. “I don’t know.” I said. “Come inside.” He said. But I shook my head. “I’m not leaving you out here alone. Come on.” He said. So he took me inside the hotel and up to their penthouse suite. He opened the door and I saw another man sitting on the couch drinking a beer. But as soon as he saw me walk in, he jumped up really suddenly and started acting really weird. “Ava. This is our weirdo friend Mason. And now you see why I was asked to be yo
