"Well, that was a massive failure," Damien stated, staring down at Jacob. He seemed pretty pissed about it, but it was hardly Jacob's fault. "Maybe Kai really has grown a conscience?" Gordon piped up. He immediately regretted it when the others stared daggers at him."Well, I will beat up Jacob, but we need Kai to beat someone up," Damien said. "And he won't fight me. Not after that time I kidnapped him."Gordon blinked and did a double take. "Huh?"From the corner of his eye, he saw Jacob shaking his head and mouthing, "Don't ask."Remembering poor Ronnie's face, he heeded the warning and closed his mouth."So it is up to you, Gordon. All you have to do is roll your eyes at him and he beats the crap out of you," Damien said.Thinking back to the last time, to the humiliation, he didn't want to volunteer."Come on," Charlene pressured. "I swear I will make it worth your while."At this, Damien and Jacob both made scoffing noises. "Charlene and Gordon? Who would have thunk it?" Damie

Jenna couldn't stop thinking about Jacob. After failing to pluck up the courage to ask him out in person, she had gone down the coward's route and texted him."Want to hang out after school?" she had asked."Sorry - I can't," was his reply. After an hour or so he had texted again, promising they would do something soon.It had been an hour of moping and crying, but everything was okay now. Now she was over the moon and nothing could bring her down. On the way to school Kai did not speak to her. He was still angry at her, but for whatever reason, he was yet to take any sort of revenge.Or so she thought. Then she spotted Jacob sitting alone by the bins."Oh my God," she muttered, making her way over to him.As she approached, their eyes met, and he looked away."D--did Kai do this?" she asked. Jacob twisted his head, avoiding her eyes. "Oh, God I'm so sorry," she cried. "This is all my fault."Her hands shook as she stormed back over to Kai. She shoved him square in the chest but he

Trigger warning - rapeCharlene didn't want to admit it, but she was afraid. She was afraid of Damien, and she'd invited him to hurt her. After watching him beat Jacob, she wished she'd taken up Jacob's offer to be the one. The one to abuse her. They were going to go to the police and accuse Kai. Jacob would do the same, and then Kai would look guilty, even though he'd done nothing to them.'He's done enough to other people over the years,' she thought, justifying it to herself. Her jaw tightened as she tried to force the guilt away. When Damien arrived, all thoughts of guilt vashinsed, replaced by cold, sick dread. It filled her stomach up to her throat, making her feel physically ill.He was scary. Much scarier than Kai."I... I don't think I want to do this anymore," she muttered, avoiding his intense gaze."Oh," Damien said. He plonked himself down next to her and turned to face her. That look in his eyes was so creepy she felt like something was stuck in her throat. She swallowe

"I can't see him again," Charlene insisted. "I just can't.""This is his place," Gordon reminded her. "Besides... if we cut him out... how long do you think we are going to survive. The guy is more of a danger to us than Kai ever was.""Please," Charlene cried. She shifted over to Jacob and grasped him, snuggling into his side. "Don't let him come here."Seeing her all over Jacob made Gordon's heart sink in his chest. But he wasn't surprised. Jacob had marked her card... and he always got his man... or woman, in this case. There really was no competing with the guy. With his perfect face and perfect body and perfect... everything. Plus... he knew how to talk to women. He knew what made them tick.It was very hard for Gordon not to hate him.Why did he have to take Charlene when he could have any girl he wanted? Any girl at all. And he just had to take the only girl Gordon had ever cared about. It made him want to cry, but for now, they had to focus on staying alive."I think we just h

Jenna tiptoed into the kitchen, hoping Kai wouldn't be there. He wasn't being mean to her lately, just ignoring her. She wasn't sure if that was worse or not but being in a room with him made her uncomfortable. Her heart sank as she saw him sitting at the table.'Just back out quietly,' she told herself, but he turned to face her before she could move an inch. After a second, his angry scowl softened."Are you seeing Jacob today?" he asked.Jenna shrank as she nodded. There was no point in lying to him."Be careful," Kai warned. "I know he can seem like a good guy, but everything he is doing is just to get at me. He doesn't care about you any more than he cared about Serena or Jess or Tammie or Delilah."'That's a lot of girls,' Jenna thought, trying not to look surprised."I'll be careful," Jenna promised. And she would. She truly believed that she wouldn't end up like those others, but she also wasn't stupid. She paused, hand on the doorhandle.“You really didn’t beat him up, did

Kai smiled to himself as the door clicked open. Jenna was home and she'd only been gone for an hour. Things with Jacob were clearly not going so well. And this was good for everybody involved.Jenna entered the room, stared at Kai and pulled the strangest face. She didn't say anything for a moment, but Kai didn't want to push. After a second, her nose wrinkled up and she asked quietly, "Did you know Jacob is obsessed with you?"Kai laughed and nodded. "He's hated me ever since I met him. I never even did anything--I swear. I only started picking on him because he came after me," he explained. It was the truth."I'm so sorry I didn't listen to you," she said. "Really, I'm so freaking sorry."Kai smiled at her and shrugged. "You figured out what he's up to. That's a first. The other girls I liked still try to get with him now."He said the words before he realised he'd slipped up, and wondered if she'd notice he had just admitted to liking her.Her face gave nothing away."Honestly...

Gordon shifted nervously as he waited for the others to arrive. He watched as Charlene plumped her lips in the mirror, adding layer after layer of cherry gloss. It was obvious who she was doing it for because she never bothered wearing makeup when it was just the two of them.He noted the way her eyes kept checking the clock as if counting down the minutes until Jacob's arrival.'He doesn't even like you!' he wanted to scream at the girl. But that would only make him sound jealous. Besides, she would figure it out on her own once Jacob showed his true intentions and crushed her heart into oblivion. When Tom and Jacob knocked at the door, Gordon was horrified to see Damien with them.He pulled Jacob inside first, whispering, "Why on Earth is that lunatic here?""Love you too, Gordon," Damien shouted in a flat voice. When Gordon looked over, Damien blew him a kiss.'Damn, that freak has good hearing,' Gordon realised, turning red with shame."Turns out none of us regular people know ho

Gordon knelt in the bushes beside Charlene, waiting for Damien. From the description Damien had given, he had been picturing an open field. One where they would be able to hide and keep an eye on Damien as he did his part.It wasn't an open field, but more of a copse. The bushes were so overgrown it was difficult to see anything in the dark, and the paths through the underbrush were like a maze. Damien had left them in a nook that looked like either a homeless person's ex-hideout or a den for drug users. The muddy floor was dotted with sun-bleached litter, and one crusty old blanket lined a hollow tree stump. It wasn't quite big enough for four people to crouch in, so they were squeezed in like sardines. As he was standing next to Charlene he didn't mind the lack of space too much. After ten minutes or so, they collectively started to worry. "What if Damien gets hurt?" Tom whispered. They deliberated over what to do for another minute or two before a "Boo!" from behind made them a

Jenna and Kai were walking the dog later than usual—specifically to avoid Jacob. But there he was."For fuck’s sake," Kai hissed under his breath. "It's like he knows when we are leaving the house.""Maybe he does," Jenna muttered in return. "It wouldn't surprise me if he planted a bug in your bedroom."Jenna was half joking. The guy was clearly a little bit disturbed and completely obsessed. People like that did crazy things.Kai was obviously thinking the same thing. His face screwed up as he muttered, "It's just too often to be a coincidence."Today, Jacob did not have his mother's pair of dogs in tow. He wasn't even pretending to be out there for a particular reason. That, coupled with the fact he was staring them down, made Jenna nervous. Even though Kai was a lot bigger, stronger and faster. Even though there were two of them and one of him. Something about the line of his lips and the steely cold in his eyes made Jenna nervous. Eyes that she once found irresistibly gorgeous

Kai woke in a dark, groggy state. It took him a moment to realise it was daytime and that his eyes were covered. Tiny slants of light became visible as his eyes focused. His headache intensified as he concentrated on them."What the heck?" he mumbled, recognising the familiar situation he'd found himself in.He'd been tied up here before, many years ago. That was before he'd started working out on a daily basis. Before he'd learned self-defence. Before he'd been a 6 foot 4 guy with an eight-pack and virtually zero body fat. 'And yet... here I am again,' he thought, pulling at the knots around his hands."Damien?" he asked, hearing the shuffle of a footstep. "I promised I'd leave you alone and I did, right?"He sighed, hearing only silence. "I never touched you. I never spoke to you. Hell... I never even looked at you," he argued. "So why?"He felt a blinding flash of pain as the blindfold ripped away from his face. Squinting in the sunlight, it took him a moment to make them out.
