Back in Lisa’s apartment, Susan, after checking up on Lisa in her bedroom, decided to prepare some food and tidy up the kitchen and living room to beat time since she had nothing to do but sit idly around feeling bored. After about an hour and a half, Susan was done with cleaning. She proceeded to the kitchen to begin cooking. She started by chopping the vegetables, then blended some onions, garlic, ginger, and tomatoes, then placed the saucepan on the stove and poured some oil. Just when she was about to add the blended onions, garlic, and ginger, the doorbell rang. She turned the knob on the stove off, but since she was in a hurry, she turned the knob downwards instead. She went to the door to check who it was. “Hello, how may I help you?” Susan asked the delivery man standing outside the door, holding a bouquet of white lilies. “Is this Miss Lynn’s apartment?” The delivery guy asked, and Susan nodded. “Okay, please sign here.” The delivery man said, handing the bouquet to h

Previously: “Hello?” Lisa said on answering the call. "Lisa, my love,” she froze at the familiar voice. ‘How is it possible? Huh-huh, no! There’s no way he'll call her, right?' Lisa doubted it. “Trey…?” She muttered dejectedly. But instead of hearing a response from Trey, what she heard was the clearing of a throat. After a while, the response finally came. “Miss Lynn, hi, it’s me, Don Antonio Agrilla,” he said. “How are you doing?” “Don Antonio…?” Lisa asked, perplexed; she could swear it was Trey's voice she heard earlier. “Yes, Melissa (Lisa)? Were you expecting someone else?” Don Antonio asked, but the tone of his voice didn’t sit well with Lisa; it was as if he was aware of what he was doing. Lisa thought. “No, umm... I was just wondering how you got my contact,” Lisa said, trying to get rid of any thoughts regarding Trey. She was starting to overthink things again. “I have my ways,” Don Antonio answered teasingly, making Lisa roll her eyes as she imagined the kind of expr

Country B: ~~~ Meanwhile, in Don Antonio's office, he has been busy working on the piles of files lodged on his desk that require his signature. He stared at the small photo frame on his desk—a photo of him and his parents together with little Martina and her parents—a photo that was taken on the day he got engaged to her, the happiest day of his life, a dream come true, but all that changed when she and her family traveled to country A. "Country A!" He growled angrily. After resuming his role as a mafia boss, he investigated the cause of the accident and found out it wasn’t just an accident but murder. And the previous mafia lord, Trey’s grandfather, had an involvement in it; he may have instigated the accident because all the clues point to him, and the only way to have contact with him is through Trey. Antonio's plan was simple: Lisa for Trey and Trey for his grandfather. He initially decided to terminate his plan to use Lisa and her unborn child as pawns to bait Trey into

But the person laughing—Lisa could never forget that voice. “Valerie…?” “Yes, cousin,” she said in a taunting voice. “How have you been? It has been a while since I heard from you.” “Valerie, where is Trey? I need to speak to him; can you please pass him the phone?” Valerie made weird faces, twisting her lips as she listened to Lisa speak. Does Lisa think she is stupid? Why would she give the phone to Trey? She wouldn't do that, even if he was in front of her, not to mention he wasn't here. “Ohh, I'm sorry, Lisa, but Trey can't answer the phone right now; he's in the shower,” Valerie said, her voice sounding concerned. “If he is taking a shower, why are you there?” Lisa asked in a shaking voice. If he was showering and Valerie was with him, it only meant one thing: they were together right now and inside the same room. How could Trey do that to her? “Don't be silly, Lisa; you know Trey divorced you so he could be with me. What do you think I'm doing with him right now?” She a

“Dad and Mum?” Lisa uttered in surprise. As she stared at the photo in her hand, she began to recall a memory from 15 years ago. She was very little at that time, but since her father had taught her to understand the world, as little as she was then, she understood what was happening at that time. ~~~ “My beautiful Martina, you know Daddy loves you very much, right?” Don Luis asked as he tickled Martina, who was seated on his lap. She could not answer her dad because she was so immersed in the sensation of being tickled; she laughed uncontrollably. She managed to speak to her dad with some difficulties. “I love you too, Daddy,” she said. Just then, her mom strolled into the living room and said, “La miel (honey), she’s going to pee herself if you don’t stop,” Martina called out to her mom to come to her rescue. “Mom, help meeee,” she said through giggles. Her mom walked over to them and then helped to release her daughter from her husband’s clutches. “La Miel, I want to spea
