Isla’s POV “I need to leave. I cannot stay here another second. All my life, I have had to deal with more and more stress, and this tops it for me.” Mora huffed and started to throw things into her suitcase. My blood was boiling upon hearing such rubbish from her poisonous mouth. How dare she! I growled, and Cora immediately tried to trap me against her and the wall. She knew I was about to lose my temper with this sorry excuse of a she-wolf. “Don’t even retaliate to her, and she is not worth it,” Cora said quietly, but Mora shot her a filthy look, which only caused me to growl even louder. I didn’t even stop when I felt Max beside me. “Come on, Isla.” He tried to distract me and lead me away, but I wrenched my hand from him. he looked astonished but said nothing. I did not allow them to react quickly enough before I was in front of Mora and pinning her against the wall. She looked so pathetic with her fake tears and look of fright on her f

Miller’s POV “You’re not the father. None of you two are.” Mora said shamefully. Those words rang on my head continuously. That meant that she had been with someone else. Cora was furious for her brother’s devastation, but I noticed from the corner of my eye how she struggled to maintain her emotions. “She’s lying.” Isla shouted with a scoff of disgust and crossed her arms over her chest. “Mora, what are you doing?” I heard my beta pipe up but thought nothing of it since he was my best friend and would have always had my back no matter what. My eyes turned back to my now ex mate. She was nothing more than a Hoare. “Mora, what are you talking about? That is our baby. You are mine. My mate.” Daniel stepped to her and held her to his chest, he started to caress her cheek. She looked up at him and a tear fell from her eyes. “I am so sorry, Daniel. Please forgive me. It was just the one time, and I never meant it to happen.” She sobbed into him, and he he

Isla’s POV I just watched as Miller ran off into the distance, everything had happened to quickly that there was barely any time to process it. Max was trying to pull me away from the sight of the dead body that lay mauled just feet away from us. I turned my attention to Mora and felt my anger sizzle up because this girl had caused so much unnecessary drama in my life, and this was behind a joke now. “I can’t believe your stupid mate killed him.” She turned around and glared at me, pointing a finger. How dare she accuse me of being the one in the wrong. Also, was she stupid? Miller was not my mate. Not anymore. I felt my body start to shift as my wolf pushed forward and forced me to the back. Not even Max could prevent me from shifting. Mora’s eyes widened in fear, and she turned to run away from me, but my wolf was far too quick. Grabbing her with one swipe, she tumbled backwards banging her head on the ground and becoming as still as a statue. “

Miller’s POV Pembroke. That word just kept ringing inside my tired head. I could not go back there and face the shame that I knew would be waiting for me. I had killed my beta, my best friend and been badly betrayed. The pack would see me as weak and not strong anymore for the alpha role. I did not want to be challenged for the role that belonged to me. Was this all just my own fault for rejecting Isla in the first place. He regretted that so much. If only I could turn back the hands of time. I would have done it all so differently. Isla’s father had been the reason I had rejected her in the first place. He should die too. Perhaps if they were all out of the way then Isla would take me back and we could rule Pembroke together. I would have my luna and my rightful one. I could not help but growl at the thought of Max with his hands all over Isla. He should die too. I decided that was the only way forward if I were to return to my own pack. They neede

Isla’s POV I really did not want to leave Max alone he had no idea how happy he made me feel. Without him, I felt sick and hated to be a part. I guess that’s part of the mate bond. Mora was so mad with Daniel, and I couldn’t believe that she had a baby with Miller’s best friend. She was certainly a different kind of species. How messed up did you have to be to treat someone like that she seems to like to screw everyone over to get what she wanted and clearly got bored easily. I felt so sorry for this baby of hers. This poor hopeless defenceless child was going to grow up without a father and a crazy ass mother. Could she really put a Baby first over her own selfish greed and needs? It sucked to be stuck in this car with her, but it wasn’t like I had much of a choice since my sister was also here and I didn’t fancy walking. I told myself it wouldn’t be for long. “I know you hate me for everything, but I can’t change the past. I’m not a bad person. Everyone makes mistakes.

Miller’s POV “What are you talking about? What is going on?” I growled as Max shoved a glass of something in my face. It burnt like hell and caused me to fall helplessly to the ground. The next thing that I knew, I was being forced into a chair and bound by a heavy rope. My body was weak and shaky. What was happening to me? I looked across to Daniel for an answer, but he ignored any eye contact with me and instead held a smug look. I realised that he had tricked me. How could he do that to me? Why would he want to do that to me? It was not my fault that Mora had lied to the pair of us. Should we not be working together instead of against each other? As for Max, he was mad and wanted revenge for me, planning to kick him out of the picture. If Daniel had not opened his mouth, then none of this would have happened, and I would be in top form. Max would not have stood a chance if he had not been given the heads-up. I growled at Daniel, which only caused him to snap

Isla’s POV Cora was not moving. Her eyes closed, it just looked like she was asleep. My heart felt like it stopped. My knees felt weak and wobbly like jelly on a plate. “Is she dead?” Mora gasped bringing me back out of my own head. She suddenly clasped a hand over her mouth. I snapped my eyes back to Cora, willing her to wake up. She’s going to be okay she had to be. My sister couldn’t die. I pray to the moon goddess that she will be alright, and then I feel Mora place her hand on my shoulder, trying to comfort me, that’s when the tears that I’ve been trying to hold back, started to fall. But I did not care about that all I could think about was my poor sister and that this was all my fault. I should never have come here with them. Mora, well she should’ve left on her own. Why did Max make me get in the car? All of this could’ve been avoided and now I was going to spend the rest of my life regretting this moment. All this stupid arguing

Miller’s POV I must’ve been out cold for quite a while because when I finally came back round, it was extremely quiet. I could not hear a sound. Not sure where I was. It was dark. And it smelt ridiculously awful. Max must have really put a number on me and now he’s probably far away somewhere with Isla. I suppose I should be grateful since he had not killed me. Well, not yet anyway. He might be somewhere around ready to pounce, attack. Whatever he had planned to finish the job. Either way, I knew that I was not about to get away with this grudge he had against me. Not that I could blame him, I mean he was only trying to protect his mate from being stolen. A huge thud sounded outside causing me to feel hopeful I was going to be spared and freed from this hell hole. “Let me out of here!” I started to shout out. Whoever was out there would hear me I could not move since I was shackled to the wall by chains. My body was weak, exhausted, and fed up.

Isla’s POV She doesn’t remember me. What happened to her? “Cora it’s me your sister don’t you remember?” I gasped holding her shoulders and looking into her eyes. There was nothing. She had no recognition of me. My own sister. Eric placed a hand on my shoulder and smiled sympathetically. “How can she not know who I am, but she recognised you as her mate? That doesn’t make any sense to me.” I complained as their pack doctor approached me with a glum look on his face. He scratched the top of his greying hair and let out a heavy sigh. “Miss Cora has had a nasty hit to the head and make her lose her memory. Unfortunately, we don’t know if it will come back or if it does how soon. It would seem the accident has caused her wolf to retreat.” His words rang in my head, and I wanted to burst into tears, but I couldn’t. Nothing came out. I was in far too much shock. If me and Mora had not been arguing, then perhaps none of this would have happened. “I need to see Max.

Miller’s POV I woke up to find myself in the back of the truck, my arms tied together with a rag in my mouth to prevent me from talking or making any sound. I felt sick and dizzy, and my mind was blank with whatever had happened to me. I remembered Ed talking to me, then nothing. I could hear voices outside, and I instantly knew who it was. Max and Ed. I listened carefully to their conversation, trying to work out whatever they were up to. It was like a riddle. I had no clue. “He needs to stay the hell out of it.” I heard Max say to Ed, who sighed and grunted in response. “You owe me big time, Ed and I want that girl for myself. If you want your dirty little secret to be kept and not exposed, I suggest you convince your daughter to take it.” Max was starting to growl. “Remember who you are talking to; she is already yours. It's down to you to mark and mate with her to finish that mate bond, but I assure you she will take Pembroke.” Ed sa
