Lexi’s pov“He's so old,” I balked as Nathan chuckled.“You know, Lexi, lots of women consider Darius Cartwright a panty dropper. You have to admit that he is an attractive bloodsucker,” he offered and I rolled my eyes and said, “Hell no! I'm not going to admit that. Doesn't a vampire have to taste the person's blood to know if they are their mate? That's what Lenny told me!”Nathan raised his hands in a questioning manner and said, “I have no clue, Lexi.”Pressing my hands to my swelling abdomen I sighed to my growing pup.“You don't want to have a hundred-plus-year-old mate. You will break his hip on your wedding night,” I muttered, then groaned from my dirty thoughts.Nathan was eyeing me with laughter shining in his eyes.“How does Nolan feel about it? It is his pup in question,” I inquired.Shrugging he said, “I haven't any idea but he will probably be alright with it since Darius is a council member of high standing and is the descendant of one of the original members.”Exhaling

Lexi’s povFinished with putting our clothes away I glanced at Nolan and said, “Let's go run our wolves.”“What about Nathan and your son,” he asked me sullenly.Giving him a glare I explained that I already informed him that I intended to spend the day and evening with him and him alone.“Wow, well alright then, but when we shift be sure to carry your clothes in case we need them,” he said, sparking my curiosity.“Wherever are you going to take me,” I asked teasingly.I sauntered up before him and rubbed my chest against him.“I thought I'd take you to the flower fields and waterfall,” he whispered huskily and gazed into my eyes.“Hmmm sounds like fun. Maybe we can go skinny dipping?”His mouth curled up as his eyes narrowed down at me.“So tempting,” he growled, then kissed me.Wrapping my arms around his slender waist I kissed him back hoping that he felt how much he truly meant to me.After we separated I saw that his eyes were closed and felt his heart racing like mine.“Let me m

Lexi’s povRunning outside I was hit by the faint smell of exhaust and tilted my head as I heard cars. Walking around the rundown cabin I glanced over the edge of the summit and saw an interstate. Following along the asphalt with my eyes I could see an exit sign for the Alderwood State Park.Hurrying back to Nolan I told him where we were and he looked startled.“How did we end up so far northwest? We can't be here, Lexi, this is someone else's territory,” he exclaimed and I shrugged, not concerned about the implication of another pack's area. I handed him the cell phone and suggested that he call Nathan.“Good thing we didn't start a fire that certainly would have pissed some Alpha off,” I muttered and he chuckled at me as he dialed Nathan.Covering the phone speaker he asked me if I wanted to go back or stay.I gave him a stern look and said, “That's entirely up to you, Nolan.”He got back on the phone and told Nathan where we were and that we would return in a few days. Lexi’s povAs we traveled I sensed Della falling back from the others and keeping pace with me.Feeling her eyes on me I turned to her and saw her looking at me strangely.“Can I ask you how the conversion bite didn't affect you?”Grinning, I told her that I was a princess and a dual species so vampire venom didn't do what it was intended for me.Surprised by that she gasped.“You're like that one guy, oh who was it, Deion Mitchell,” she muttered softly.“It is Devon Mitchell, he was my father but he is dead now,” I asserted. Her eyes widened as she bowed her head.“You're royalty, Oh my Goddess, I am so sorry for us trying to ransom you,” she stammered in a panic, causing me to start to laugh at her unease.“Please don't think that I am anything more than just a Luna,” I explained and she just looked at me befuddled.“But you are! You're a rare dual species,” she exclaimed.Putting my index finger on my lips I told her to hush.“I don't want it to be spread around about my genetics,”

Lexi’s povThe remainder of the day I didn't see much of my mates and just hung out with Reese and our children.Lily and a couple of other women from the pack cleaned my house as I visited with Reese. When Lily brought out refreshments I asked her to take a break.“I can clean up afterward, you don't have to clean the house,” I told her.She scrunched her face and shook her head at me.“Your Luna and also pregnant with pups. You should just rest and get plump,” she said with a smirk.Huffing I growled sourly and said that I was capable of doing the work.“Relax bestie, she was just teasing you,” Reese interjected and I closed my mouth feeling like a fool.“Sorry Lily, I think the pups have gone to my head,” I muttered.Patting my shoulder she chuckled and said, “You're fine, dear, and doing a great job. I've never seen those boys behaving so responsibly since their mother's heavy hand.”Grinning slightly I nodded and thanked her.“I am proud of them for having taken on such a tremend
