Davis's POVAlexandra's dad ran towards me like his daughter's life depended on how fast he ran. "Where's she?" he asked, his face etched with worry. I pointed towards the ICU, he wasted no time as he walked-jogged towards the ICU room. I'd thought he'd ask me how it all happened or accuse me of almost killing his daughter, but he didn't do any of that. Unlike my mom who followed right behind him. She stared at me with disappointment or rather, sadness in her eyes. I didn't know what she felt but I knew one thing. She hates to have a son like me.I tried to ignore the way she stared at me and she made it easier by walking away, following Alexandra's dad behind. My back was leaning against the wall and I watched Drake as he was interrogated by the police. They had my statements first and now they were checking if my story would match with that of Drake's. I wasn't scared of getting into trouble because I knew Drake wouldn't tell the whole truth, at least not the part where I gambled

Alexandra’s POV "Hey, wait up," I called out to Davis, taking the stairs two at a time to catch up with him. As expected, he ignored me completely, his long strides carrying him down the hallway toward his bedroom."Can you at least stop and listen to what I have to say?" I called out once more, my voice a bit toned up from frustration. He paused and turned to look at me. His blue eyes are all gloomy and detached- like he couldn't care less about what I had to say. Fine, I'd make this quick. "I just wanted to say thank you." His brows drew together, "For what?"You know damn well for what, asshole, I thought. “For defending me at school,” I said aloud, in case his selective memory had kicked in.“I wasn’t trying to defend you,” he replied flatly.I blinked, caught off guard. Had I misread everything that happened today, or was he just being a jerk?“If you haven’t noticed,” he went on, “I’m doing everything I can to stay out of your business. I was only keeping Chloe away from you.

Davis’s POV My mum would have done something rash after she learnt I bailed out of my business lessons again. But the rage on her face slowly melted away like a cloudy sky after a storm when she found me lying down like I was about to die.“Why didn't you call the doctor?”Mum asked. I had no clue if she was directing the question to me or Alexandra. Then she sat by my side, caressing my head. And I couldn't help but think back to the past, when she was always so gentle to me as a kid. When Dad was still alive.“I was…confused.” Alexandra replied, “I didn't know what to do at that moment when I came into his room and found him burning up.” She lied, and I gave her the accolades for being so good at acting and lying.“Oh, no. I shouldn't have left you kids in the house. Knowing fully well George and Zoe are not around.”“It's fine mum.” I assured her, coughing in between words to make feeling sick look more believable. “I'm doing okay now.” I said, turning to Alexandra. “All thanks t
