111. BAIT II

~ISSAIris coming over to my place had almost derailed the plan but we were back on track. “We need Jamal and Miles for this to work,” I told Yulia.I wished there was another way to do this but I could not think of anything else. I knew that I was putting her in harm’s way and Marianna would be rolling over in her grave if she knew what I was about to do, but I was tired of waiting in the shadows. The last time I had ignored the growing signs of the witches’ uprising it had cost me my parents; it had taken my sister and almost taken Yulia when she was just merely a toddler.I wanted blood, I wanted revenge and I needed this cult to know that they had no right to exist. Before I went over any of the plans with Yulia, we both waited for Jamal and the beta of my pack to arrive.Yulia went up the stairs to have a hot bath, while I ordered pizza for the two of us. I was not in the mood for a home-made meal, nor did I want any of the maids anywhere near the house. I heard the sound of th

112. BAIT III

~YULIAA voice in my head was telling me that this was a mistake, but I knew that it was just fear speaking. I had no idea how we were going to go about this but I was confident in Issa’s plan. It was midnight and the only sound in the room was Mile’s munching loudly on the Pizza Issa ordered.“Where are they located?” Jamal asked. “And how the hell did you get this information?” He demanded from Issa who was gazing meditatively into nothing as he slowly paced the room.He stopped pacing and turned to glare at Jamal with a piercing cold look in his eyes. “Jamal,” he began. “I am sure that in your years of being a detective, no one has ever told you or asked you how and when to do your job, please do not ask me how to be a Lycan, I find it insulting.” I covered my mouth to hide my smile. The banter between the two of them always made me laugh. “Finding information about criminals is not part of being a Lycan, that’s detective work,” Jamal retorted.“So, why did you not get the infor

~ISSAYulia’s breast was distracting as I rode through the barren road. I loved the way they vibrated against my back. I loved the way her arms wrapped around my body. I loved the way her breath felt on my neck. I should use the motorcycle more.It was pitch-black out here in the city outskirts, and we rode through it like fireflies floating through the dark. Here, the law simply did not exist, I could vividly smell the stench of death on these barren corpse-filled land as we rode on.I realized that I had forgotten to lay out the plans on what to do when we got to our destination. That was a lie, I deliberately ignored the plan because I preferred to react to whatever happened as we went. I loved to improvise because I had first-hand experience on plans not working out. Besides, we were dealing with dark magic here and there was nothing predictable about that kind of magic.I saw the lights in the darkness far ahead of the road. Death Valley loomed ahead of us. The road ahead curve

114. DEATH VALLEY

~YULIAI had never been to a place like this before. I was wracked with anxiety and excitement plus a little fear because I had no idea how tonight was going to end. I was not even scared when these big burly men approached me with hunger in their eyes. I felt revolted by the way they were leering at me with their lust filled eyes. However, I was not afraid of them, they were humans and I was not. I could even take them on even if they decided to try anything. But that was not going to be the case tonight.I looked at their jacket to see if they were part of the motorcycle gang I was looking for but they were not. “Who is blind enough to leave you all by yourself on a night like this?” The one to my left drawled. His breath stank of alcohol and I suppressed a gag. He was leaning on the wall by my left while his partner in crime was to my right.I shrugged. “I came alone, I am just looking for a good time,” I said, giving my best innocent smile.“Well, you are in the right place, d

115. MEN ON FIRE

~YULIA “I could not help but overhear you talking to those poor men about Dark Magic,” Jordan said. He looked every bit like the predator he was. Oily black hair smoothened to the back, eyes that were brown and devoid of warmth, and an arrogant gait. “You were eavesdropping,” I pouted playfully.“Guilty as charged,” He said with a playful shrug. He licked his lips and looked at me from head to toe. “What did you say your name was again, darling?” He asked and I knew that he wanted to confirm who I was.I had a feeling that he already knew who I was. “I never told you my name,” I said with a shrug. “Not until you tell me about this biker gang of yours,” I added.“Fair enough,” He said with a slight nod. “You mind joining us at the VIP section, Miss?” He asked and jerked his thumb at the upper floor of the bar. There I could see the rest of his motorcycle crew.“Depends if you are more of a gentleman than those two on the floor,” I replied.“Oh, I can assure you, Miss, we do not bi

116. MEN ON FIRE II

~ISSAI watched everything. I was impressed by the way Yulia dispatched those two assholes and I was even more impressed by how calm she had been when our preys revealed themselves. It was hard maintaining a conversation with these random horny women but I knew I had to because I did not want to blow my cover.I watched the rapist approach Yulia and all my wolf sense heightened up so much that the women recoiled in fear as they felt my powerful aura. They could not understand what was happening but I had somehow changed before their eyes. It was the Lycan effect. One by one, they left me alone as they made up flimsy excuses about using the ladies’ room. I merely nodded as I was left alone.I saw that the rapist was leading her up the stairs and I followed, making sure to mix with the crowd to conceal myself. I spotted Miles having fun with a bunch of women who were laughing hard at one of his lame jokes and I rolled my eyes. He threw me a wink to let me know that he was aware of what

117. MEN ON FIRE III

~ISSAI could smell things no other werewolf can perceive. Emotions. I loved the smell of fear the most. These men had no idea what they were in for. I could literally see Iran smiling with the glee of death as he watched from within me.“Who is the fucker?” The rapist scoffed as he said, looking at his men in confusion.“Are you high?” Stone asked coldly. “My friend said to get the fuck out of here.” “Tell me who your friends are, and I will tell you who you are,” I quoted.“What?” The ex-cop said with a puzzled look.“Your friend rapes people Mr. Verne,” I said.A look passed among the men. I sniffed. Worry. A dark smile played across my lips.“I’d choose better friends if I were you,” I said, taking a few steps forward.“How do you know my name?” The ex-cop asked and reached into his jacket to produce a gun of his own. He pointed it at me.I could sense Miles somewhere in the shadows but I could not sense Jamal yet. I had a feeling he was around.“I know all your names,” I repl

118. MEN ON FIRE IV

~YULIA I was afraid. The violence was becoming easier. It was almost like second nature to me now. I was scared that I was going to lose myself to it if care was not taken. I was afraid that I was just going to be as ruthless as Issa. This night alone, I had injured three humans and werewolf and the truth was that they had all deserved it. Iris was in the hospital fighting for her life due to a third degree burn all over her body because she attacked my human best friend, Lana. The other three were men I had met in a place, a bar called Death Valley. They were sexist pigs who preyed on defenceless women and I felt no remorse knocking their ass out cold.“Have you always had those ropes?” I asked curiously as Miles bound a semi-conscious Stones.“I never leave home without it,” Miles said as he fully secured the ex-soldier.I felt no pity looking at Verne who had three knives in him, with one pinning his hand painfully to the ground. He was losing a lot of blood.Gaines was still u

119. THE SEED DRAMA

~YULIA The ride back home had been a silent one. Miles and Jamal went their own way, while Issa took us home. I could tell that he had been very angry about our lack of breakthrough with the people who wanted me dead.“It seems like we are back to square one,” I told him as we entered the house. I noticed that the walls have been repainted and new art works have been hung. “Not necessarily, now I know that there is a pattern,” he said as he sat down on the sofa.“What do you mean?” I asked him, curious.“This is the second time we have witnessed men burning up, it means someone is behind the scene and they have access to powerful magic,” he replied. “Powerful enough to burn men up from a very long distance.”It was strange. “The secrets they are hiding must be that bad if they are burning up the men they hire like matchsticks,” I said.“Or they are doing everything in their power to stay hidden, but I will find them.”It was one in the m

120. THE SEED DRAMA II

~YULIAHeavy and vicious blows rained down on my head and chest. One caught me clean on my chin and my head bounced on the hard grass. I almost went unconscious until another one snapped me fully alert. I brought my wrists up and guarded my head. Leia’s punches were hard as they made contacts with my raised arm. She was sitting on top of me as she released hits after hits of furious punches.“Leave her alone,” I heard Ashley yell but it was more of an echo. Leia raised her right hand up to strike me but I used that to jerk my hips up pushing her off balance. I grabbed her by her Ash blazer and pulled her sideways to the left until I successfully got her off me. I shot to my feet and
