It was 4:45 in the morning and Cassie sat on her bed, rubbing her eyes with her hands because she couldn’t get a wink of sleep. Why can’t I sleep in peace? She thought, passing a hand through her long, silky red hair and tucking a small strand of hair behind her ear. She went to the nightstand beside her bed and grabbed a bottle of water to drink from it.
