Chapter 151 ~ Blood moonELIJAH'S POV"Let's just take a picture of it. We can decipher it when we get home," I suggested, wanting to leave the place. The house had suddenly begun to give me the creeps."Sure thing." Jason brought out his phone and took pictures of the place, before turning to leave. Then I suddenly paused as a thought occurred to me."What? What is it?" Jason asked when we were just at the door."When the moon bleeds… isn’t that just a poetic way of referring to a blood moon?" I asked, and Jason considered it for a moment."Perhaps.”“And when's the next one?” I asked, suddenly having a premonition of something dark ahead.“Well, there's been talk about a blood moon on the news lately." Jason said and his eyes widened, as though he'd begun to catch on."When?""Twenty days from now," Jason said, slowly bringing his phone to look at the image. When the moon bleeds… Elijah, I think this means something crazy is going to happen on the night of the blood moon.""Yeah. I

KYLIE's povThe room was dark at first, then suddenly, it brimmed with ethereal light."oh, damn it." Elijah cursed as he blocked his eyes. I closed mine, and Jason just sighed like he'd already had enough."I was wondering when you would make an appearance, chosen one." I turned to the sound of the screeching voice, and jumped when I saw an old…very old, maybe even ancient woman sitting on a chair that resembled a throne. It seemed to be built out of gold. The woman, with white hair, and bark-like skin was looking in my direction, but her eyes were closed, and I wondered if she was blind."are.. Are you the oracle?" I asked carefully. She didn't reply quickly and a part of me was worried that she couldn't hear me, and was about to ask again, when she nodded once."Yes, I am." she said, and l turned her face away from me, "what do you want?""you help." I was quick to reply, "your guidance. Wisdom…""That's a whole lot, Chosen one. Many people know better than to ask for more than one

KYLIE's POVSince my seizure, I had been trying to take things easy. But I could only ignore the sudden surge of power I had felt since our visit to the oracle.I chose not to acknowledge it, because from the very first moment, it felt entirely foreign. But not anymore. The oracle had said I had a whole lot of power within me. It was high time I honed it.So a couple of days later, I woke up before Elijah did, and went out into the garden to practice. In the garden, I felt closer to nature, closer to the earth. There was a patch of flowers that lay dying. I crouched in front of the flower bed, and stretching my hand over it, I whispered a spell. The flowers that had fallen suddenly stood rigid, and the vibrant colors became apparent."there." I whispered, smiling to myself. I considered practicing elemental spells as I rose. I wanted to try to call forth rain, or even shoot lightning from my fingertips like I had seen Damien do through Elijah in the vision. But maybe that second part

KYLIE's POV"you're not responsible for Damien's choices, kylie." Elijah said when I recounted the words of the fallen souls of the village of ashes to him and Jason, "you didn't even know Damien existed when he nearly wiped out that town. Why are they blaming you for what you have no idea about?” He asked, truly aggravated and softened when he looked at me directly, “and why are you taking responsibility for his actions?"I sighed. I wasn’t trying to take responsibility, I didn’t even know that’s what I was doing. But when Elijah put things in perspective like that, I couldn't help but think a little bit more clearly. But then…"But I passed by that village, I saw the ruins, I saw what Damien had done. I could have done something to help."“We all saw it, ky. We were all sad. We all promised to do something about it once this whole battle with Damien was over.” Jason said gently."Exactly. I’m sorry they were dragged into a war they had nothing to do with, but that’s not your guilt t

KYLIE'S POV"So what? There might be some kind of ancient connection between Damien and the hollow king ?” I asked and Maren nodded.“But I thought they were just friends from this lifetime. But now it seems like the hollow king is an ancient deity who existed centuries ago.” I said, feeling more and more confused."they don't necessarily have to be buddies for Damien to want to release him. Especially since Damien stands to gain a lot more power from the hollow king's release. But whether or not they are friends isn't really the problem. The real problem here is how deep that connection goes." Marne explained."So what we have is the knowledge of Damien's childhood name, which seems to make him weak when uttered. But somehow, that name is also linked to the hollow king. So maybe releasing the hollow king removes the weakness?" I asked and Maren nodded thoughtfully."There's that. " Maren said, "and it's a very strong possibility as well.""so many ifs and maybes. And all because one
