“What are you talking about?” Steffan asked, stopping in his tracks.Racheal cursed herself, she should have just left the damn bags and go bathe as he said. Now they would have to talk about this. She was not sure she was ready to revisit those days in that hellish room.“Don’t freeze up on me now. You started saying something. Finish it.” She looked at him, not sure where to begin. Not sure if she wanted to begin.“Speak for fuck sake.” Steffan yelled.“You have no right to demand anything of me.” She screamed back. “You abandoned me Steffan. You took me to a party, I never asked you to. You took me there to the place where I got framed by your crazy ex, and you disappeared when I needed you the most. You looked me in the eye and said I should ask Delbert to help me. You turned your back and let me spend three days in that horrible place.” She said breathlessly.“Do you have an idea how much I suffered there?”Steffan said nothing, just continued looking at her.“You wanted me t

Racheal did not know how to bring up the issue that she needed to get on birth control. She worried that Steffan may misinterpret it as her not wanting a child with him.But that was not it at all. She just did not want to have a baby with him under their current circumstances. At least not yet.She may have been a virgin, but she knew once was enough to make a baby. And the thought that a baby might just be cooking in her belly at this moment frightened her.But it did not frighten her enough to refuse Steffan the next morning, when he woke up to see her watching him .“If I did not know you well, I would have said you were just now thinking of all possible ways to murder me.” Steffan smiled up at her.Racheal laughed. “You already had a shower.” He said, moving close to sniff her hair. “You smell delicious.” She wove her hand around his neck, and hugged him close to herself,“How are you, in pain?’Racheal shook her head. “Just a little sore.” “Sure?” “Yes.” “You know what c

Steffan helped Racheal out of her chair, and the couple went to stand at the edge of the balcony. She placed her hand on the balustrade, and looked out at the resort below. Steffan stood behind her.“It’s so high up.” She said, as she looked down.“Mhmm hmm.” Steffan responded, kissing her neck. She smiled, and moved her hand back to caress his hair.“When did you buy this place?’ She asked.“When I turned twenty-four.” He replied, lifting his head up from her neck.He wrapped his hand around her waist, and held her close against his chest.“You should be one of your father’s biggest competitors in the hospitality business.” She felt him smile. “We serve different customers.“How?” “This place is best for getaways. No one would drive hours to come have a serious business meeting here.” Steffan said. She nodded and continued to watch the main road far off. She knew he admired his father. It was evident in how he decided to invest in the same businesses his father did, and now she

Steffan placed the big dress box in the trunk of the car, as Racheal got in the passenger seat. Usually, one of their guards would have done that. It was nice to experience life as normal people. She put on her seatbelt, as Steffan climbed into the car. “How are you feeling?” He glanced at her.“Fine.” She responded, wondering why he would suddenly ask that. You have not taken your medication today.” He said, pulling the car out of the building.“I took them earlier this morning while you were still asleep.” “Oh.” He nodded. She watched him drive quietly, a thousand thoughts swimming in her head. “When you said I was embarrassed of you, after we returned from the stadium. Why did you say that?”She saw his jaw begin to grind, and he gripped the wheels more tightly. She held her breath watching him. If she knew this would upset him so much, she would not have said anything. She waited quietly, deciding that if he did not respond now, she would never ask him again. She could li

“You do?” Racheal asked, looking up at Steffan. How did they know each other?“Yes.” Steffan said, returning his hand to his pocket. He and Alvaro stared at each other, doing what men often did, sizing themselves up. “You look lovely.” Jade said, ignoring the men to hug her.“As do you.” Racheal smiled, hugging her friend. She did not miss the fact that Jade carefully avoided her injured arm. She was impressed that the woman remembered what arm had been injured even with the concealing makeup.“Not nearly as good as you.” Jade said gently, pulling away. “Everyone is talking about you.”“Who is everyone?”“Those women at the back are just one of many.” Jade said, gesturing behind.Racheal glanced behind her, but could not see more than a few metres off. The room was hazy with false smoke. She turned her attention back to Jade, not without noticing Alvaro and Steffan were whispering quietly between themselves.“Your friend is here, I saw him out back with your assistant and some o
