CHAPTER 30NICHOLAS POV"NICHOLAS!" My mother yelled as I stalked out of the house. I kept walking until I was almost at my car. "If you leave, then don't bother coming back." She said, still behind me. I spun around to face her, "Really, Mum? Let me guess. You're still upset with me over my marriage with Sia?""No. I will not sit back and watch you disrespect an old friend of your father. I raised you better than this, Son!" She said through clenched teeth. I shook my head slowly, as I dug my teeth into my lower lip until the metallic taste of blood was on my tongue. "Mother, I have no issues with Ethan, or whatever the hell his name is, resurfacing. All I ask is to be left out of this bonding stuff he has going on, please.""You need him, Nicholas. I've never given you answers about the questions you've had about your missing father. Ethan is the best person to help you.""Actually, I have a lot more issues to deal with than trying to get to know Ethan better. I gotta get going!"

CHAPTER 32SIA POVSia POV"Wake up, Sleepy head!" A familiar voice chuckled and I felt a finger stroke my face. My eyes slowly tore open and settled on the man before me. Nicholas. He was bent over me, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Wh-what are you doing here?" I asked, slowly pushing myself up from the bed so I could sit. "You seem to have forgotten what you desperately wanted yesterday, Sia." He said..I let out a yawn, slapping my palm over my mouth, "Uh?""I need you to get out of bed. I'll be taking you to your mother this morning, and afterwards we shall show up at the press conference."I gasped, "I literally don't have any clothes to wear!""Exactly. That is why I shall be assigning Rhonda to you. Come in!" He said, snapping his fingers. Immediately, the bedroom door opened and a young lady walked in,clutching a large bag in one of her hands. There was a wide grin on her face as she met my stare. My mouth dropped open with disbelief. I knew her!She

CHAPTER 34 NICHOLAS POVIt was only when I walked out of that room, leaving Sia behind me that I realized how long I had been holding my breath. Shit!I was already getting tensed. Gregory was waiting for us in the hallway, and when I drew closer to him, he had a questioning stare on his face. "Where's she?" He mouthed."Coming behind me!" I said with a low voice. Then, I leaned close and asked, "How did it go? Did they find anything?" I was eager to find out any news about Ethan, the mysterious man who now claimed to be my father's bestfriend. Gregory had promised me that he would run some background check on Ethan for me. Gregory opened his mouth to talk, but shut it again as I heard light footsteps behind me. I got the cue. Sia was near. "I almost thought it would take you an entire day to join me out here!" I said with a dry chuckle, just as Rhoda showed up, clutching a small black purse. Sia walked up to my side, a small smile playing on her lips, "Oh, a woman certainly ne

Chapter 36Sia POVDamn it!I was slowly getting to the point where all I wanted was to crawl under a rock and remain there forever. I was slowly losing my mind over the idea of being watched by some people I didn't even know— my abductors. If they had set me free, then they definitely needed me alive, I reasoned. I kneaded a finger on my forehead, trying to distract myself from the small headache which was already throbbing. I shut my eyes close, leaning back on the car seat. I had no idea how long I had dozed off until the Cab driver cleared his throats noisily. Then, I squeezed a was of cash into his hands and got out of the car. Since the argument I had with Nicholas the previous day, we hadn't spoken to each other. I rolled my eyes as I recalled how he had sent several texts, especially while I was with Nathan. ~ ~ ~~~~~ As I pushed open the grand entrance of the Winthrop mansion, the soft click of the door echoed through the marble hallway, resonating off the crystal chand

Chapter 39Nicholas POVTwo weeks later:.I cruised down the highway, the warm sun casting a golden glow on the sleek dashboard of my Audi. The GPS announced my arrival in 10 minutes, and I mentally prepared for the meeting with my client, Louis Parker. Securing this contract would catapult my architectural firm to the top tier.Ever since I had gotten the previous contract with Mr Rodriguez, I had received several other offers, most of which I had turned down.Only one company stood out to me, and it was the Parker Industries. They had indicated an interest in working with my company suddenly and I couldn't help but wonder why. This morning, I had left home early enough before Sia got out of bed because I didn't want to encounter her again. I had been avoiding her lately, because I was yet to come to terms with what I felt for her. I knew that I had to put boundaries in place while I dealt with her, and over the last few days, it had gotten so damn hard for me to exercise restraint,
