BEN POVNolan was quick to jump to his father’s aid before he ended up committing murder in broad daylight. When the journalists didn’t respond to what Ambrose had asked, he turned to look at me, and our eyes locked in a frenzy, and my heart skipped a beat.He defended me, even though he barely knew the whole story.Nolan was trying to calm his father down, but Ambrose brushed him off and went into the building, and I remained frozen on the spot as the reporters continued to take pictures of the whole incident, and I could definitely sense a lawsuit coming in.I found myself walking past Nolan with my mind still reeling from the shock. As soon as I walked in, I could hear people murmuring about me, and I ignored them and went to the ladies' bathroom to cool off.I turned on the faucet and glanced in the mirror, staring at my reflection, and I saw a broken girl staring back at me.Tears rolled down my cheeks, and I let them fall this time because there was no one to see my vulnerable s

BEN POVOnce Ambrose and Nolan were gone, I slumped in my chair, tiredly running my fingers through my hair.I was on the verge of losing my damn mind.He saw us… and if Nolan hadn’t walked in at that moment, I am certain that Ambrose and I would have kissed, and that would have been the end of us.What would my family think of me? The whole world would label me as a slut and a homewrecker who ruined a father-son relationship.I couldn’t help but feel guilty.I sighed deeply and trusted Ambrose to handle the issue; after all, he knew Nolan better than I did.I pulled out my phone and decided to call Clay. He was the only person who could make me feel sane at this point. As usual, he picked up on the second ring.“What did you do this time?”My eyes widened in shock.I didn’t expect him to go straight to the point. I cleared my throat nervously.“Ambrose knows everything about Zane… and I had a mental breakdown, and he held me when my world was crashing down. He didn’t even care if he

**BEN POV**That same night, Ambrose had offered to make dinner while Nolan offered to help his father, but unfortunately, he kept messing up everything, so Ambrose asked him to take care of the dirty dishes in the sink.Whenever I tried to offer my assistance, both men would refuse and simply ask me to relax. It was nice of them, but I felt a little guilty. Watching Ambrose cook looked like a work of art.He caught me staring at him, and I placed the glass to my lips, pretending to drink and mind my own damn business.I could tell that he seemed amused by my behavior.“So where did you learn to cook like that?”I inhaled softly, and it smelled delicious.Ambrose looked up, meeting my gaze, and that throbbing feeling between my thighs was back again, taunting me.“My father enjoyed cooking meals for my mother, and he taught me to do the same at a very young age, especially if I wanted to make the woman I love happy. I used to cook for my wife all the time.”It was the first time he wa

BEN POVAs predicted, my mother showed up at my apartment first thing in the morning. My grandfather had given me a day off so that I could choose a wedding dress worthy of the Rebel family name, but I knew deep down that he was just sucking up to the media. He wanted our family in the headlines.I sighed deeply and let my mother in, and she looked around my apartment with distaste.“You need to get yourself to a better neighborhood, Ben, but it’s a good thing that you and Nolan are getting married. I'll find you guys the best apartment in this city.”I rolled my eyes at her.“Just make yourself comfortable. I need to take my morning shower, so it might take a while.”She nodded quietly. The last time I had a proper conversation with my mother was at the wedding, and tensions were flying high that day.I pointed to the kitchen and left.Once I was in the comfort of my room, I sighed softly and closed the door behind me.I felt like I was getting cold feet, but it was already too late

BEN POVAmbrose is quick to put out the fire before anything drastic happens, and I sigh with utter relief, but I have a strong feeling that our meal has been burnt beyond recognition. He turns around and faces me, chuckling, and my own face breaks into a contagious grin. “I have never burnt a single meal in my life, and this only happened because you kept me distracted.” I cocked a brow at him. I faked a gasp and placed my hand over my chest. “Are you saying that it’s my fault?” He shrugged carelessly. I stood up and walked towards him, wrapping my arms around his neck. “Are you here to tease me?” he asked curiously. I shook my head negatively. “Move over. I’m making us some sandwiches; besides, I have to show you my mad cooking skills.” He looked amused and made way for me. It took me twenty minutes to finish wrapping our lunch, but the kitchen was a total mess. Still, I was confident in the five-star sandwiches I had created. I placed them on the plate, and Ambrose loo
