RUBYMy day proceeded as usual —busy at the house and store. My life was literally about juggling between those two places. Sometimes, I hung out too. But most of the time, I would be seen only at those places. Was I bored? Not really. I wasn't the type to enjoy hanging out much, especially partying. I gave up alcohol since being pregnant. Even when life was getting tough, I refused to give in. Now that I am used to living without alcohol, life is more enjoyable. I don't have to worry about morning headaches or temporary amnesia. It has saved my life in many ways."Have we sold moldy cake?" Judy asked from her place. He sat in her chair, holding her phone. There was no customer at the moment, so my staff could cheat occasionally. Only if the store is empty."Huh?" I looked at her in confusion. While Judy was stationed in her post, I used the bench to read a book. Lunch was over, and I was enjoying a break while overseeing my store."Someone gave us a one-star review and stated that we

RUBY "You've never done that." That was Helen's reaction during our call after I sent her the video link. She didn't sound only angry, but also disbelieving of the accusation. "I know you, and this is out of character for you," she continued. A smile crept onto my lips when I heard that. It touched my heart to know someone believed in me. "Thanks for your trust, Helen." "Of course. I would have been the first to beat you if you had ever done such a thing." She responded with the same spirit, causing doubt to begin forming inside me. Was she really on my side? "Wow. That's the kind of you." I grumbled. "Which one would you choose? Beaten by me or the police?" "Hey!" I protested right away. None of those choices was appealing, and I wasn't in a place to face it, either. Helen laughed, and I huffed in annoyance. The call with my best friend was supposed to ease my mind, not the other way around. "What is your plan?" She asked after a moment of joking. This time, I let out a heavy

WYATT I collapsed onto the sofa as soon as I got to my room. Today was packed with meetings, lunch, another meeting, and then one more on Zoom. After that, I had to attend an event. It was overwhelming. But who could I complain to? It's my responsibility as part of Logan and as the business leader. A heavy sigh escaped my lips as I leaned my back against the sofa and found comfort. Only if Ruby and Austin were here. It might not entirely erase the tiredness. But at least I could use the warmth to lift my mood. "I miss you, Uncle." I instantly smiled after hearing my son's message. We couldn't talk during the call due to the time difference, so I had to accept with only voice notes. Nevertheless, it was better than text or nothing. "Hm, that must be delicious. Have a sweet fun with Mommy. I miss you, too." I recorded those lines and sent them to Ruby. Then I returned to my previous position while staring at the ceiling. Ruby and Austin's faces were there, looking back at me with

RUBYIt was the reason I avoided discussing a matter over the phone. Without the comfort of touch or a hug, misunderstandings grew easier, and words alone felt risky and limiting. The absence of in-person support left nerves unsettled, making me anxious about how our conversation would unfold. However, I then realized I had also contributed to this misunderstanding. I deliberately left Wyatt out, telling myself he might be too busy at work, even though I knew he had access to all the information. I felt a mix of guilt and apprehension, wondering why I had chosen not to tell him, especially when I knew he would learn about it with or without me."No. It's not like that." I defended myself from his accusation. "I was dying to tell you about this matter and share my feelings with you. But it would only steal your focus from the important thing.""You're important." Wyatt cut me off, clarifying my words, which resulted in a smile forming on my lips."Yes. I know that." And I acknowledged

WYATT"It looks nice to sleep between you and Uncle Wyatt."I couldn't help but let my heart swell with happiness at the thought of that. Yes. I was up since my son rustled into his spot between us. However, I purposely pretended to be asleep just to eavesdrop on their conversation. And it was always worthy."Really?""Hm." He hummed to answer her."Then, sleep, baby. Breakfast is still two hours ahead.""Will Uncle Wyatt be here when I wake up?""Of course," Ruby replied immediately. "It's the weekend, remember? He will stay for the weekend." Her voice was as calm as usual, especially in the serenity of the morning."Ah, weekend. We can play together." In contrast, Austin responded in excitement."Yes. You can play with him later. Now, let's sleep. Look, Uncle Wyatt is sleeping, too. Let him rest a bit longer.""Okay. Let's sleep together, Mommy."There was silence for the next minutes and only her hand movement, patting our son to sleep, was heard. And it slowly drifted away as her
