It was the reason I avoided discussing a matter over the phone. Without the comfort of touch or a hug, misunderstandings grew easier, and words alone felt risky and limiting. The absence of in-person support left nerves unsettled, making me anxious about how our conversation would unfold.

However, I then realized I had also contributed to this misunderstanding. I deliberately left Wyatt out, telling myself he might be too busy at work, even though I knew he had access to all the information. I felt a mix of guilt and apprehension, wondering why I had chosen not to tell him, especially when I knew he would learn about it with or without me.

"No. It's not like that." I defended myself from his accusation. "I was dying to tell you about this matter and share my feelings with you. But it would only steal your focus from the important thing."

"You're important." Wyatt cut me off, clarifying my words, which resulted in a smile forming on my lips.
