RUNE POV So why did Mother and Father give me that look? I wasn't done with my food but at this point, I was more than ready to abandon it and walk back to my room. With a smile I didn't know how it looked, plastered on my face, I looked at my parents once more. “Is there any problem?” They looked at each other before looking at me again. “Why do you ask, son? Did we say there was a problem?” He looked at his wife and back at me. “We were only looking at you. Does that make a problem exist?” A sigh. A scoff. What did these people want from me? This was the reason why I couldn't tell them about my love for Raven. How could I, when they warned me so much from the onset? “Alright,” I chewed on a chunk of meat and gave a nod. “I hear you, Mother and Father.” Mother cleared her throat. “We just hope you're not planning to bring another woman into this pack, Rune,” she said with a smile I considered fake. “I'm sure you know we've had enough of your saga with the other gender. I mig

RAVEN POV Lunchtime. Taking out the food from the bag I came with, I knew I needed to take a break. There was more than a lot going through my head at this point, but what could I do? I simply relaxed my back on the chair and opened the plate of food. And it was at this moment that I noticed something strange happening to the meal. Not the meal, but the office in total. What was I thinking? A piece of paper fell off the plate packaging, catching my attention. What could I do or say? I looked at the floor, wanting to be certain that I wasn't imagining things. There was a piece of paper. Confirming this, I looked around as though it wasn't my office anymore. And now I bent low so that my hand could reach it, snatching it from the ground and meeting the gaze of whatever was in the piece. “I know I haven't done well for myself or even you, Raven. But I look forward to the day we get to spend time with each other again. And I promise I'll treat you right, and not the wrong way I

RUNE POV I walked past the gate leading into the camp when my gaze caught someone's. It's been over two weeks of training the wolves and I had yet to say a word to a man I have tagged an enemy. What would he have me say to him? “Good morning, Mr. Rune.” It was a student who called. She had a smile on her face and my lips widened, the grimace leaving my countenance. “Good morning, dearest wolf. How are you doing today?” I walked and she was by my side, offering to take my bag but there was me who shook my head. “I can handle it, you have nothing at all to worry about.” In moments, she was out of my side and there was me who led my way past the space with many wolves in it. They offered more greetings while I just walked away, heading to the general office for trainers like myself who had arrived. “Good morning,” I greeted the man from two weeks ago. “I have arrived.” Sarcastically, I mouthed and kept walking. “Where are the others?” Stopping in my tracks, I turned to look at the

RAVEN POV “Isn't it late at night to be here?” Opening the door, there was Aella in my apartment. “Come on in. I'm sure you're cold.” I mouthed as I opened the door even wider, watching her walk into the space with a smile that was evergreen on her face. “Good evening, my lady.” I shut the door. Turned around and caught up with the couch she was seated on. “Not so fast. Is everything okay over there at the pack? Why are you here? You keep scaring me so much and I don't think I like it.” “My lady,” she looked at me. “There is nothing wrong if you must know. I just came to spend some time with you. I haven't done that since the operation for all that I can recall. How are you doing?” Relieved, I heaved a sigh. And just then, her eyes reached my stomach. “My goodness. It's bigger than I thought it'd be!” Crying, she adjusted on the chair, dropping her purse on the floor. “You look good on it too. You are still as beautiful as always if you know what I mean.” “I don't feel bet

RavenThe kitchens smelled of bread and smoke, the kind of warmth that clung to your skin long after you left.Logan hadn’t been exaggerating. It was steady work. People here didn’t pause to glare at me like they had the night before when I walked through the settlement. They were too busy kneading dough, chopping herbs, and carrying trays. Still, I felt their eyes slide over me when they thought I wasn’t looking.Aella had insisted on coming with me. She perched on a stool in the corner, pretending to mend a torn apron, though I knew she was only there to make sure I didn’t crumble under the weight of all the staring.“Raven, hand me that bowl,” one of the older women called.I was finally up for this. Maybe this was the price to pay for my freedom but how sustainable was it? I could be caught anytime from now.I passed it quickly, murmuring, “Here.”She gave me a short nod, nothing more. It was better than outright hostility, I supposed.Logan appeared midway through the morning, duc
