Chapter 22: It was not a dream Leilani MooreThe night was perfect even though it went overboard with a series of drinks, Joel was charming and I enjoyed his company so much more than I had expected, when I decided to go home, he offered to drive me home because I was a bit tipsy, we also exchanged numbers before he left. I waited and waved him goodbye, happy I met him again and walked towards my room feeling lightheaded. I took a quick bath when I got into my room, I felt my tensed-up muscles relaxing and finally I threw myself on the bed, but as soon as I laid on the bed I felt the fatigue from the whole day catching up on me, my eyelids grew heavy until the sudden ringing of my phone, with a groan I stretched my hand and grabbed my phone, I look at the caller’s ID and it was Jaxon.I furrowed my brows as I wondered why he was calling by this time, I swiped my phone and answered the call barely able to stifle a yawn as I lifted the phone to my ear. “Why are you calling me at this

Chapter 24: Uncertainty Leilani Moore “You’re not telling the truth, Leilani, I know you too much to guess when you’re hiding something or not. And Leilani I know will rather be at home all day than spend a minute outside except it’s necessary. What kept you so late?” she asked, her eyes narrowing slightly, the usual hint of concern in her voice. “Mom and Dad asked about you. They were getting worried.” I shook my head, forcing a smile as I slipped off my shoes and tossed my jacket onto the chair nearby as I stepped into the house, Ruth followed quietly behind me waiting for me to reply to her. “They could have texted,” I grumbled. “You wouldn’t believe what happened.” Ruth raised an eyebrow, her interest piqued. “What? I knew something happened,” she wriggled her brows at me and I laughed. “Where is mom and dad?” I asked “They have retired for the day, you know these old people sleep early,” she replied and I chuckled. I sighed as I sat down on the couch, remembering the whole

I met him outside, relaxing in his car, as soo

Chapter 28: Care For Him Leilani MooreEven though Jaxon had weight, I was able to put him inside his car and then I went inside my car driving into the compound, I killed the car engine and went inside where my parents and Ruth were watching the television, they looked happy that was back. “Thank God you are back, come join us,” my mom said but I waved dismissively“I’m sorry Mom, I have somewhere to be I will be back,” I noticed Ruth narrowed her eyes at me, I didn’t wait for them to say another thing and I walked out of the house quickly. I went back to meet Jaxon and he was already asleep in his car, I purred the car to life and drove, I gently tapped him and he opened his eyes “Your location?” I asked since I wasn’t so sure where he lived anymore. Jaxon groggily pressed a button and I saw the location of his house, I realized it was the same place he had lived when we were together, I glanced at him and I noticed his head lolling to the side, his breathing deep and steady. I noticed someone standing at my door stand, I strained my eyes and it was Leilani, her hand on the handle as though she were about to leave. My heart lurched, and for a moment, it felt like I was dreaming, what was she doing here and how did she get into my room, it felt like I wasn’t fully awake and I must be dreaming about this. “Leilani,” I croaked, my voice hoarse from sleep and the alcohol still lingering in my system. I winced at the sound of it. She froze, her hand still gripping the door handle as she turned slowly, a surprised look on her face, as though she hadn’t expected me to wake up just yet.
