Clarence’s POV. I stood at the entrance of the noodle shop surprised at how quiet and empty it was. I could see the driver’s wife in the back, her shoulders slumped and her eyes downcast. My heart sank at the sight of her, and for a moment, I wondered what had happened to the noodle shop that was booming back then when her husband had brought me. I walked inside and greeted her, a small smile forming despite the discomfort I felt. She looked up and blinked. “Are you here for noodles?” she asked, her voice soft. I nodded. “Yes, I’ve been here before.” She furrowed her brows, her eyes scanning me as if trying to place my face. “I don’t remember you.” She paused, her lips pursing thoughtfully. “I usually remember everyone who’s come by twice.” I introduced myself, and as soon as the name left my lips, I saw her shock.
